This was our 17th year staying at Kingfisher next door and Herondale we come quite a long way (from Sheffield) so a long drive however the location, properties are work it, many happy memories with my family including our dogs over the years, Lovely place to relax, hopefully back next year, thank you. We arrived at the property in the evening and it looked lovely with its beautiful garden and lake. When we went inside there was a strong, deeply unpleasant smell throughout the property, partially masked by the smell of very strong chemical cleaners. It had not been cleaned well either with dirty windows, large number of cobwebs, mud on the floor, and one toilet was visibly dirty. The sofas smelled so badly that nobody would sit on them and we did not want to unpack our bags. We tried to air the property by opening doors and windows but after a couple of hours we realised that the smell was not going to go. We could not stay there even for a night so with no other options we drove back home. Neither the cottage company or the owner have acknowledged there was a problem with the smell and did not offer any refund or alternative accommodation. Having stayed in many holiday cottages in the past, this is by far the worst experience we have ever had.

Lovely house, well equipped, v clean and comfortable. Would have appreciated cushions for the outside chairs and the grass/nettle growth around the lake made it v difficult to walk - and in places impassible- especially for children. Appreciated the welcome pack.

Herondale is in an amazing location with a lovely big garden and neighbouring lake to use. House is big with everything you need for a week away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Good property in a great location for exploring the surrounding areas. Dave the host was exceptional
Great location, both for the private lake and the Marloes peninsula, in very quiet area. Property was comfortable but a little tired in some parts, good rear garden overlooking the lake with wooden seating for eating outside but bbq was very rusty. Ensuite shower room was very small. Didn't manage to spot the otter despite some dawn and sunset visits, but there are some large fish in the lake. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay with good exploration around the peninsula.
We have stayed at Herondale several times now. It is comfortable, clean and warm. The situation is great with lovely views of the lake especially in the sun. The location is perfect for coastal path walks. It is quiet and peaceful with a fully enclosed garden for our dog. We would certainly recommend and look forward to our next visit.
Have stayed in Herondale a few times and will definitely be returning. Good to stay any time of the year. Finally saw an otter in the fishing lake - a real treat!
Herondale is situated in the most lovely position, it has a beautiful long lawn for the dog with the lakes to the side, very peaceful. thank you for a lovely stay, we had a good relaxing week, in this comfortable cottage, my only comment on cleanliness was the windows was very dirty.
Lovely cottage, would definitely recommend. Cosy and comfortable. Lovely garden, wish there had been a lawn mower, we would have mown the grass.
