To everyone who owns a cat or dog..do your vet homework first and check out vets who offer emergency cover and what they charge. We got directed to Park vets -Glenfield via our vets out of hour service. We thought we would give them a try as our dog had a deep cut to her inside back leg. On phoning we were told the consultation would cost £200 for a Saturday afternoon visit. To say my other half took a deep intake of breath was an understatement. When we got there it was quiet but got busier. Eventually we got called in for our consultation to tell me what I already knew. They would have to have her in to clean and stitch wound. Asked how much it would cost.......sharp in take of breath. Other half nearly on the floor when a total of between £800 to £1200 for a clean and a few stitches! Op due to be done about 5pm. Well we left her there..it needed to be done. I got some earache in the car home. I rang about 6.30-op not been done they will ring me when it is. 9pm rang again as not heard..op not done. At this I decided to go and fetch the dog home. Lady I saw very apologetic and the op would be done by morning should I wish to change my mind.Had a few emergencies in. I left paying about £235 ish as dog had been given some jabs. When we got home dog was in serious need of toilet facilities in both departments so not sure if she was given opportunity to go whilst there 7 hours.Lack of communication left us twiddling our thumbs all evening. If they had said the surgery delayed we could have got other farm jobs done and gone to bed. However as it was we left and went elsewhere the next morning. Bill next day from different vet just over half of what we paid Park. Price was for visit, consultation and antibiotics. Not been stitched up either way dog or us, as would now need old skin cut off. Wound is healing nicely. I think the pricing is over the top and would not recommend this vet practice. They are relying on the fact you need a vet and at any price.Would be interesting to know if registered clients get a better deal?
