Unethical practices

Bought a number of items from CherryDeals, including some £1 jars and a free item. Received a notice from the company claiming the items were 'damaged in transit' and granting me a store credit with no offer of refund or replacement. Clearly this is a ploy, offering products at a special price and then forcing the customer to use their payment for full-priced products. NOTE: It is illegal under UK law to restrict customers’ rights or to mislead them about their rights, for example by stating on your website that you only offer store credit for items damaged or lost in transit. Under UK Consumer Law, consumers are entitled to a full refund for goods not received within 30 days of purchase,

No technical support

Dav 4 of no WiFi service. Daily calls to Hyperoptic, being told there's a 'provisioning problem' - no indication of what action is being taken or how long it will take to restore my service. I need my WiFi to work from home and in the meantime I'm unable to attend virtual meetings or access online accounts. Landline is also unavailable, which I use to stay in touch with my 94 year old mother. Hyperoptic shows no interest in resolving the issue.

Efficient and friendly

Lost a filling and was experiencing some sensitivity. The friendly practice receptionist gave me a next day appointment with the capable Virginia, who had me on the mend in no time. I highly recommend Together Dental Whitechapel.

Dreadful food, never again

Stopped for a pre-flight brunch at Gordon Ramsay's, Heathrow Terminal 5. Ordered eggs Benedict, which arrived with the poached eggs served on (no exaggeration) 2-inch thick discs of dry bread, instead of the crispy chewy English muffins I was expecting. The bread was so thick and dry, it soaked up the first egg yolk like a gooey sponge. Even after splitting the width of the bread mounds, the meal was completely unappetising. Gordon Ramsay should take a leaf out of his own book. At £17.50 a plate, it's a pity I can't use his favourite vocabulary on this website to describe his eggs Benedict.

Great so far

After hearing excellent reviews, I ordered Cellexia's Collagen Hair Renewal Serum. It's early days, but my hair felt great after the first use and I've had compliments on its renewed bounce. Looking forward to trying out more of Cellexia's products.

Appalling customer service

Zooplus was great until it suffered a data breach earlier this year. At that time my account was closed and my email address disabled WITHOUT NOTICE after being compromised.
Then in July when I tried to place an order with payment by PayPal (same as usual), the only option available was to pay by bank transfer. The message indicated that any other method than Bank Transfer is "not eligible for Zooplus Repeat". I was not ordering any items on Zooplus Repeat.
When I contacted Zooplus and explained the issue, I was given a ‘cut and paste’ response: “The payment methods shown during checkout are the only ones currently available for your order.”
I have subsequently been able to set up another account with a different email address and place EXACTLY THE SAME ORDER. Same items, same cost, same delivery address, same delivery method - and no issue with payment methods.
There has been no attempt by Zooplus to resolve the issue with my account. Instead, they just send the same unhelpful 'cut and paste' response.

Negligent

Not long after a full service, the car’s exclamation warning light came on. Amy at Hills advised that this meant an issue with tyre pressure so to be on the safe side I drove the 16 mile round trip to Hills of Woodford and waited an hour for my car's tyres to be checked. The next morning the warning light was back on, so I booked the car in for another check. Before that visit could take place, the reason for the warning light soon became apparent – there was a nail in one of the tyres, now completely flat, and easily found when I had to call roadside assistance. Hills had failed to check for the cause of the issue when I’d taken the car in specifically for that purpose. Complete negligence; and not even an apology for the inconvenience or for endangering my life.

Seller Protection is non-existent

ebay accepted the buyer's return request on the basis that the watch was not working. I have received the return and THE WATCH IS WORKING, just as it was when I sent it. Nothing about my listing was incorrect. ebay has taken the buyer's word without any evidence, penalising me when I have provided evidence on every count.

Unsatisfactory

Despite clear instruction for the heavy box to be delivered to my door, and that I would be at at home, it was instead dumped downstairs in a public walkway with no supervision. And despite downloading the app and giving my mobile number, I received no delivery notification.

Car Insurance No Claims Bonus halved for no reason

If you have more than 9 years no claims bonus for car insurance, Direct Line will dispose of those years for you. I had 15 years NCB when I took out my policy with Direct Line, plus 2 years protected NCB with them, and they would still only give me a letter for 9 years when I moved to a new insurer - effectively wiping away 8 years NCB. Thanks Direct Line.
Update: in reply to Direct Line's response - I have phoned several times, emailed, and had an online chat, all asking to be sent a letter with the correct NCB years. All I've been sent is a letter saying I have 9 years.

Tenant bias in disputes

I used the MyDeposits adjudication service when the previous tenants disputed withheld monies to pay for damages and cleaning. Despite me providing 43 pieces of evidence in support of my claim, including check-in and check-out reports, quotes, photos and emails proving tenant's liability; and despite the fact that I had already reduced my claim to allow for fair wear and tear; and despite the adjudicator agreeing that my claims were valid, I was still only granted less than half of my claim. So in addition to having an empty property for 5 months during lockdown, I was faced with huge bills to repair, redecorate and clean the property. You must always assume that there will be bias in favour of the tenant, and MyDeposits is no different in this respect.
EDIT following response by MyDeposits. The email I received from MyDeposits to inform me of its decision stated: "You should be aware that the decision is binding and the payments made are in full and final settlement of this matter. We regret we cannot enter into any dialogue or correspondence regarding any aspect of the decision." Clearly this gives no indication that a complaint can be raised regarding the decision. It's a bit late when the disputed balance of deposit has already been returned to the tenant.

Impressive customer service

My thanks to James Smith at London Power, who went above and beyond to resolve issues with a previous supplier when an incorrect meter reading was given at handover. I can highly recommend London Power, both for its green credentials and for the efficient and professional service provided by James!
