Deliberately misled

Yes, I needed to do some shelving at my new house and bumped into this company. I never compared them and they were good following me up to acquire from them - even sending me a link of what I wanted and payment link.
However, this was where it went wrong: as soon as I paid, they stopped every correspondence. I received the woods and found out that they were mostly bent. I made contact and not until I submitted my review did I get a response - and without an apology.
I’ve used more glue than normal to close some gaps, but in all wasted more money and some shelves collapsed with damages to my plasterboard wall.
Having spent close half a grand, I wasn’t expecting an ill relationship. I had to buy a replacement set elsewhere to make up my losses. For me, I feel being sold bad woods and communication avoided with me.

From their latter email communication, it was suggested to have sent me an email to address my concern, but got none - never had a reply or request for pictures for my experience - and I’ve asked for any such reply to be shared here. The set-up instruction was also to solely use wood glue on plasterboard, not with fixings.

They have persuaded me through an email to take the review down, because they are a small business. They’ve also accused me of having it installed and claiming free money. Additionally, they feel it’s what I do to other businesses. Anyway, I spent close £500 without asking for help. I’ve received emails on this matter more than I did when I was purchasing and none when I needed help.

There was nothing personal, just a review. I know there is an integrity to protect, but would have worked best when I needed help.

If Trustpilot wants to see the full email communication between us and why they are claiming defamation, kindly ask. I guess the changes are to hide some of the causes and facts, or integrity recovery.

You emailed on 7th August & asked me to send you a bespoke order link, I did this, you asked for a delivery date, I gave you a date 2 working days later, you were sent an email with tracking information and the shelves were delivered on the date given. Two weeks later you contacted us to say 'your woods were bent' I wasn't sure what this meant and asked for pictures, that was nearly a week ago and I have received no pictures.
This morning you left the review and I contacted you by email again requesting pictures to show the bent wood, I have not received any images from you but after our communication I now understand that you attempted to install the wall battens using only glue and not the screws or wall plugs provided by us, even though the instructions we provide direct you to use the screws. The shelves are made from wood and are too heavy to be only supported by glue, this will be why they keep falling off and that will be what is damaging your plasterboard. Our instructions are actually on the shelf product page and I do feel they are clear enough.

I believe I stated that I feel your review is unfair and damaging to a small business, due to the fact that you have not followed our advice or instructions and are consequently blaming us for the issues that have followed for lack of doing so. I appreciate that you spent almost £500 with us, but as I explained in my emails that if you install the battens as directed in the instructions then there is no issue to be had, even if the wall battens are bent as you say, screwing them into the wall would pull them in straight.

Also, we have been operating for a couple of years now and in this time we have had orders damaged in transit and one of the first things customers tend to do is send images of the damage, and as you can see from our lack of negative reviews we always manage to resolve these issues. I reached a point in our communications where I could no longer believe that there was an issue with 'bent wood' due to your inability to evidence this, you instead defaulted to asking me to provide screenshots of previous emails and our instructions, and finally suggested 'I can come to your house and inspect, if I'm brave enough' hence why I have ended the email thread with you.

As part of the Tulo energy avoid at all cost. I had service with them and after I left they confirmed that I had credit - few days later, they came back with close £500 debt and arrogant about it with all sorts of threat. Contacts have been made for reasoning, but it’s obvious that some heartless and incompetent persons are behind their efforts. Please, go to big companies that know what they are doing and can support you if you struggle

Contacts have been made for reasoning, but it’s obvious that some heartless and incompetent persons are behind their efforts. Please, go to big companies that know what they are doing and can support you if you struggle

You guys need to learn from other…

You guys need to learn from other companies; your instruction for DIY is a big problem. While trying to manoeuvre, not having identification numbers on the frames and accessories are a bigger worry. Outside those, your wardrobes are rigid.

Too disappointed

Honestly, it’s hard to express how I feel about Homebase.
I once had an experience with them about large plastic containers (broken) and I thought it was a one-off and probably on a lazy day for a worker. However, I’ve just bought a bicycle storage shed and had my worst nightmare.
The fact that they left my deliveries outside without any notification was one. Delivering the goods without any notice and in separate boxes and days apart didn’t help.
I started putting them together, enjoying the extreme number of nuts, and then came across the worst that any should be aware of and stay away:
- the panels don’t match; especially, the top one.
- gloves provided, but you need Kevlar- my hands are full of cuts. I don’t know how it passed health and safety review. This product shouldn’t be in the market and who approved it should be sacked.
- no base - if you don’t have a tiled floor, it’ll have to be on bare sand
- the supporting bars for the top also don’t match
- you dare not try a screw twice or you’ll have no grip.
- many holes on the top panels weren’t used and basically useless.
- 30% of the panels were either bent or scratched -will lead to quick environmental effects.
- the supporting bars, bolt and latch don’t match at all, not even close.
- images and instructions are horrible.
It’s just hard to stop listing, but the fact is that I’ve gone too far to return them. I’ll either bin it or try to use strong adhesive to see if I can recover a bit form it.
Surely, my experience means no more with Homebase, and no one should waste money buying this shed from them or any other thing.

Having come across some solicitors

Having come across some solicitors, even when contracts fell through, I've never had any dealings like I've had with Cavendish - no single conveyance advice, poor communication with deceitful undertone, no attention to detail, hidden costs from misleading information, no engagement with my documents received (not even aware of the content), fraudulent attempt with assumptive statements, no transparency, but only good with email response.
In line with my quotation and not receiving any supportive advice throughout my conveyance, it shocked me to learn that they are claiming more money for what they can't prove. It's a company none should attempt to use - the after-pain will be a high loss of time that you'll never recover in life.

I bought a set of sofas from these guys and just over a year they have peeled off like bread soaked in water. On reaching out to them, they insisted that they can't offer me any support, because I was out of 12 months warranty. I insisted and then they came back with a £660 to repair the peeled areas. Let's not forget that there is no guarantee that other areas won't peel off soon.
Even if they had offered it to me free, I can clearly state that a set of sofas close £1k doesn't need to be this poor in quality and degraded in a year. It's, therefore, fair to advise the wider public to know where to buy a better sofa - definitely not here. Sofa shop is just milking people for cheap products. Stay away and save you pride &money elsewhere!

I am so pissed off that I actually paid for next day delivery, stayed at home with 2 bells outside my house and all your driver could do was to give to my neighbour. The neighbour claimed to have been given isn't even at home, so what's my gain for the urgency? You are worse than Evri.

Deceit

On the 15th of January I bought 5 of the Extra Large 145L Storage Trunk. On the day of delivery, I saw one without the yellow handle and I complained to your driver, but he was quick to tell me that it was inside the container. I actually checked and there it was. However, I have eventually come to use them today only to see that the actual handle was snapped; hence, it was thrown inside. It's really unfortunate that Homebase could be selling damaged things to people and even add deceit/lies to it.
Honestly, I'm disappointed and I really have no trust left, if that's how Homebase makes its money from people. When we talk of fraud, there is no better way to describe it here.

I bought an item worth £13 on their…

I bought an item worth £13 on their website without any information on subscription and never added the cost to my basket. However, after a few days, they went and collected money from my account. Though still ignorant of it, on the second month they did just same. It was after the latter that I noticed and since then they've failed to acknowledge their deceit, answer my questions and refund me.
It's worth noting that these guys are scammers, nothing about them is straight. With their deceit, I spent £13 and then lost £17.89 for an unknown subscription. Honestly, someone/government needs to close that company, they are ripping people off of their hard earned cash - without any form of knowledge/awareness. Luxplus is an internet scammer, thief and full of deceit, since they can't make their membership obvious for people to be aware of.
