Not Mac compatible

The controllers are false advertised as Mac compatible but I have found they do not work with any of the games. Very deceptive. What is the point of a controller that pairs if it can't be used in the games.

2 attempts, 2 terrible experiences

I bought two 8bitdo controllers.
First one was the first version of the Ultimate, full of connectivity issues (aka random disconnect). I ended up getting a refund even after the legal window from amazon after fighting for days for nothing with the infamous Jimmy via e-mails, trying to get a replacement or literally any help.
Some years later, I bought the new Ultimate 2 controller thinking it would have been improved. What a mistake. The controller lasted two days. Same connectivity issues. RT trigger just gave up.
They somehow made it worse with this one. Incredible.

contacted support for a broken R2 Trigger

contacted support for a broken R2 trigger on my controller and had the worst experience ever.
Jimmyi was the guy I talked to,
he promised me a dock, cable and a transmiter for free + my Trigger.
got the wrong button and never seen the dock, cable and transmiter.
during our conversations he legit lied to me about things he said, never said sorry about the wrong button they sent me and even tried to make me believe it was indeed the right trigger I got, even after showing him a picture of my old R2 trigger and the one I got.

i asked to file a complaint and talk to a supervisor and he refused and stoped answering my emails.

this is such a bad customer service.

Not fully steam support

Dear 8BitDo Support Team,

I wanted to share some feedback regarding my experience with the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller. I have to say I am quite disappointed that nowhere on your product page or packaging does it mention that the controller does not work properly out of the box — unlike, for example, an Xbox controller.

I have now tested it with several games — Human: Fall Flat and New Super Lucky’s Tale — where the controller was completely unusable. In F1 2025, I also experienced trigger issues. I even received a replacement unit from the Danish retailer Proshop, since we initially thought the controller was defective.

It turns out that in order for the controller to work even partially in Steam, I had to manually enable “Enable Steam Input for generic controllers” in Steam’s settings. This is something I only discovered after a lot of research and troubleshooting.

I really like your products overall, but I was very close to giving up on this one because of how unclear this requirement was. I would strongly suggest making this much more visible on your product page or in the quick start guide — it would save a lot of frustration for new users.

My 8BitDo Limited Edition Controller Was Shipped to the Wrong Country — No Response from the Company

I recently placed an order directly from 8BitDo’s official store for the 8BitDo x Honkai Impact 3rd Elysia Special Edition Controller.
This was meant as a special gift for my wife — she’s a huge fan of Honkai and had been looking forward to it since its announcement.

However, the experience has been a complete disaster.
Despite providing the correct shipping address in Malaysia, my order was somehow sent to France, addressed to a completely different person with their full name, phone number, and French address printed on the label — yet my Malaysian address was still visible underneath the package sticker.

The tracking number (*****) clearly shows that the parcel reached France instead of Malaysia.
When I contacted YunExpress, Gofo Express, and 8BitDo, I received no helpful response from any of them. The French shipping company even confirmed they currently have the parcel but said it was not addressed to me, which makes this situation both confusing and frustrating.

This is a serious shipping and data-handling mistake — not only did they send my limited-edition item to the wrong country, but someone else received my personal shipping details attached to the box. That’s a huge breach of privacy and trust.

To make things worse, 8BitDo has not replied to my support emails or provided any explanation.
I had no choice but to purchase the same controller again from a different retailer in Malaysia, paying extra, just to make sure my wife gets her gift before it’s gone forever.

As a long-time 8BitDo customer, I am extremely disappointed.
I expected at least a confirmation or an apology, but I got silence.
This is unacceptable customer service, especially for a brand that sells premium, limited-edition products.

I’m sharing this publicly to warn others:
Even if you order directly from the official store, your item might get shipped to a random person in another country, and you might never hear back from support.

Controller gehen sehr schnell kaputt

Ich habe mir einen Controller geholt für 60€ da ging Dan nach 2 Wochen der USB Anschluss kaputt Dan hat mich der Kunden Support die ganze Zeit abgewimmelt .Dan hab ich einen Sonderrabatt bekommen mehr aber auch nicht für das das ich nichts dafür konte das der Controller kaputt ging.
Damit ich mir den gleichen Controller für 30€ kaufen mußte.2tage sppäter ging der Controller auch kaputt da er sich nicht mehr verbinden wollte ich habe den Support kontaktiert aber die wollten das ich mir nochmal einen Controller kaufe für 30€ oder das ich ihn auf meine Kosten zurück schicke.Die haben Dan lange mit mir gesprochen locker 3wochen wo sie mir nicht helfen wollten Dan wollte ich mein Geld zurück aber das tun sie auch nicht obwohl der Controller nach 2 Tagen kaputt ging .
Bestelt da bloß nichts !!

Bon fabricant de gamepad. Quelques problèmes de reconnaissance en bluetooth ou de compatibilité avec les applications comme GFN. Dépend beaucoup du logiciel, de l'OS et du pad utilisés.

Die Controller sind an sich Super ABER...

Die Controller sind an sich Super, man kann sie aber nicht einstellen oder Updaten, weil die Website ständig offline ist, man muss mal glück haben, wenn man sie für 5min erreicht, dann aber dauert der Download mehrere stunden, bricht dann irgendwann ab, weil der Server wieder nicht erreichbar ist.
So bringt das ganze leider nichts.

The controllers themselves are great, but you can't configure or update them because the website is constantly offline. You have to get lucky if you can access it for five minutes, but then the download takes several hours and eventually crashes because the server is down again.
Unfortunately, it's pointless.

I can not reccomend anyone to make a…

I can not recommend anyone to make a order from this company,
I order 4 controllers months ago i got track id but they delivery guy gave my products to someone else i have not sign anything or done anything wrong and 8bitdo know that i did not recive anything and they only offer me HALF refund when i did not recive anything so at the moment THEY SCAMED ME

The funny thing is they say the have proof of delivery and yes someone else signes it witout id or anything not even the right apartment they went to,
And their proof of id is a PDF with password they dont even tell me the password

Having contact with them is like talking to a total idiot we are not geting forward they just hope i will be tired and let them scam me but i will never give up these idoiots need to give me what i paid for or 100% refund

To all who think about order direct from them do not do it its not worth the headeach if you want their products i recommend buing them in store from a third party even if the price is higher they wont scam you like 8bitdo

Its one those products that look good and steal your attention . But are horrible once u get your hands on them . If one button gets broken , which will happen . Goodluck finding a replacement for it . And you wanna get in touch with the parts people? Also goodluck with that. Please add a few dollars and save urself from this nightmare

No warranty

I’ve purchased an 8bitDo controller a few years ago, and because that controller works fine I’ve decided buying two roughly 50 days ago.
This time around one of them came defective ( battery issue it seems, since I’ve used it one day, then on the next day it wouldn’t turn on, I’ve tried charging at first on its usual charger, as it wouldn’t even turn the charging light on I tried a few others, and it wouldn’t turn on nor charge), so I’ve decided contacting 8bitDo customer support, and they told me to update the controller which I did as requested and yet it wouldn’t work.
So I reported back to the customer service, who asked for the receipt, which I provided, and then was told to contact Amazon who had already told me beforehand to contact 8bitDo, so I told the customer support about that, as they insisted on telling me to contact Amazon, so I got back to Amazon a second time and had the same response, so reported back to 8bitDo customer support which told me to try again with Amazon, so I sent them a screenshot of Amazon's response, and yet…the customer service insisted on telling me to contact Amazon ( apparently to don’t be responsible for dealing with their warranty).
After quite a bit of time, I managed to have 8bitDo accountable for the warranty they have to provide, as they replied me that I would have to pay to sent the controller back to either USA or China, and they would either try repairing or change the controller…
Bear in mind, I would have to ship an actual box to USA or China, so it would cost me as much as a new controller…
Or they offered my an “incredible” deal of 50% off in another controller ( which is just a regular deal that anyone gets), which means they not only won’t bother with the warranty that was meant to be, but also they wanted to make it look like they were offering me a solution that was actually just an offer that anyone gets anyway…
So I DO NOT recommend 8bitDo, I did in the past, and will never do it again, I won’t recommend it to anybody else I know, and won’t buy again from.
Those few extra bucks we pay on other controllers mean we’re getting an actual warranty, so essentially buying from 8bitDo is gambling…if you buy a controller for less, and it works fine, good for you, otherwise you’ll have to toss it and buy a new one.

Only good things to say

I own 3 different controllers from 8bitdo and have been happy with them all. I bought the last one directly from the manufacturer's own store and the delivery was fast. The manufacturer sells many spare parts for the controllers and that is definitely a big plus. Thanks, 8bitdo team!

Poor quality controllers not built to…

Poor quality controllers not built to last. Just outside of warranty one of the triggers on a 2.4g ultimate stopped reading at 100%

Their customer support were unhelpful and told me to basically "buy replacement parts and fix it yourself" - it went in the bin and I bought a controller from another brand instead

Quick search found multiple Reddit threads with people who had the same problem - the membrane inside the right trigger is prone to break. Even those within warranty were reporting that 8bitdo support were not being helpful with the issue.

Avoid at all costs.

Australian customers beware!

My first and very likely last experience with the 8BitDo store was incredibly disappointing. The experience on the website wasn't bad, and the time to prepare the order and get it shipped internationally was very respectable. If the story ended there, I would be leaving a 5 star review. Unfortunately, 8BitDo and their international shipping partners use Aramex Australia for the last-mile shipping. Which was a complete nightmare, with many failed delivery attempts and sheer incompetence (the couriers don't even read delivery instructions). That's not necessarily the fault of 8BitDo, if they learn their lesson to not use the worst couriers available. However, what was really disappointing was how the 8BitDo support staff handled the situation. They were not helpful at all, trying to pass the buck and not taking any responsibility at all. Their support amounted to parroting what the tracking information said, and continuously asking me to contact the courier. Even after I clearly told them that every avenue to contact the courier had been pursued and exhausted. I even had to raise a case with PayPal in order to put some pressure on them. All in all, it took 2 months for my order to arrive.

The 8BitDo products themselves are great, and I don't have any problems with them. But I recommend avoiding the store on the 8BitDo website until the business makes the necessary changes to improve delivery times and customer service. You're much better off buying their products from Amazon Australia.
