She answered all of our questions and arranged all the paperwork so we could phone later and order without going back to the store. Her customer service was definitely above and beyond.

Ableworld in Congleton are very helpful.
Linda Laycock, was very supportive, friendly and considerate, Linda made me feel welcome and helpped me to talk about my needs. ( as I find this a difficult conversation to have)- I found that she was easy to talk to and time was not an issue. she did not pressure me in to getting anything and let me take my time to find the right aid for me.
Linda listern to what i needed help with and what my conditions are etc. Linda guided me through the different options they had and let me find out what was and was not quite right for me in my on time.
I would recommend Ableworld in Congleton.

This review is on behalf of my disabled elderly mother.
I live with a severe spinal disability (lumbar scoliosis), which affects my balance and mobility. I visited the Congleton store in June 2025 with my daughter and son-in-law, hoping to find a mobility scooter that would give me a bit of independence – something I could safely use around town, to the GP, park, library, and local shops.
The salesperson, Pete, introduced himself as a visiting area manager and seemed confident and reassuring. I explained clearly what I needed and that I would be using it on pavements in Congleton, which are often uneven. He recommended the Jiffy 4 Auto-Folding Boot Scooter, saying it would be ideal. He only allowed me to test it inside the shop on a flat carpet, never outside on real pavement where its problems would have been obvious.
Pete also told me I’d have 14 days to raise any issues, so I trusted his advice and went ahead with the purchase. What I didn’t know was that he later put the sale under another employee’s name, which feels deeply misleading.
Once I tried using the scooter at home, I realised it was completely unsuitable. Every small bump was painful, it struggled with kerbs, and I felt unsafe and shaken after only a short distance. I even had to get off while my husband lifted it over kerbs – humiliating and dangerous.
When we returned to the store to explain and ask for help, staff were dismissive. They said the “14-day return” didn’t apply because it was bought in store, and then informed us that the scooter was actually designed for indoor use only – shopping centres, cinemas, etc. That was never once mentioned during the sale.
I later discovered that the salesperson had filled out a “Demonstration Checklist” and marked that he’d explained the scooter’s limitations, but he never showed me this document or went through it with me. I was simply asked to sign several times on a screen without being told what I was agreeing to.
We made a formal written complaint under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, explaining that the product was mis-sold and unsuitable for my medical needs. The company took weeks to reply and then brushed everything aside, hiding behind small print and store policy instead of acknowledging their failure in duty of care.
This entire experience has left me distressed, out of pocket, and without the mobility support I desperately needed. I had trusted Ableworld to act ethically and responsibly, especially as they market themselves as specialists for older and disabled people. Instead, I was treated like a sale, not a person.
Please, if you are considering buying a scooter from Ableworld, don’t make the same mistake I did. Make sure you test it outside, get all assurances in writing, and be very cautious about trusting verbal promises.
What should have been a step towards independence has been nothing but pain, frustration, and disappointment.

Excellent service - Linda at the Congleton branch was extremely professional and super helpful when looking at wheelchair options for my father recently. Very knowledgeable and patient, offering advice and tips to think about. We purchased a lightweight model and a cushion for comfort. High recommend to anyone.

Ableworld Congleton have been very supportive in helping re-establish my mother back into her home fallowing a fall down the stairs. They responded incredibly quickly to our wish to install a stairlift whilst my mother was in a fortnight's respite. Both the assessment and installation was done by Mark from their stairlift team during that 2-week timeframe which was excellent. Alison and Mark from Congleton were also able to demonstrate and install a rise and recliner very quickly once mum was back home to aid her comfort and movement.

The engineer, Glyn, was competent and efficient, ensuring a smooth installation of the stair lift. He was very patient with my elderly mother, who is very hard-of-hearing and he explained to her very clearly how to operate the stair lift and observed her while she practised a couple of times to ensure that she was comfortable using the lift.
The installation was professional and disruption was kept to a minimum. Glyn also left the staircase clean and tidy.

I have had a really helpful experience in Congleton Ableworld. I purchased a lamp a week ago . When I got it home and assembled it it didn't work . I phone the shop spoke to Linda who listened to the problem,accessed one from another shop for me to be able to exchange it on the afternoon that was convenient for me . She was efficient, helpful and fulfilled the task with a smile . Thankyou .

I have dealt with Ableworld in Congleton since I purchased my first mobility scooter and have had excellent service. The staff are very friendly and know their products and are happy to give you the time you need to make your decisions. This week, July 3rd 2024, I had my scooter serviced and it was collected on a Wednesday and returned on Friday within the time frame stated. A lady and gentleman collected and returned it, I'm afraid I didn't get their names but the Trustpilot card said I was served by Richard. I wouldn't use any other mobility store and have recommended Ableworld to all my friends.

Having recently taken my brother to the Ableworld store in Congleton, to assess the best option for a wheelchair for him and meeting Linda, my faith in good service and advice has been restored.
No pressure to sell, good advice with a large selection of wheelchairs and mobility scooters to view and try, made his selection of the best one for him very easy.
I was amazed at the amount and variety of items on view and have no hesitation in recommending Ableworld.
We could have taken the chair away at the time, but Linda advised that it be delivered to make doubly sure that it was suitable for his home with relation to access and storage. Delivered the next day. Excellent.

What amazing service from the two ladies Linda and Paula in Congleton . They were amazing and so patient with my father and nothing was too much trouble .They were also very knowledgeable about the products in the shop. They had empathy, a sense of humour and a great understanding of helping people with reduced mobility.

We purchased the Calverley adjustable bed with pocket sprung mattress.
We can not fault the initial service and delivery from the Congleton store.
However, once we hit a problem then our problems began.
The mattress for some inexplicable reason has hard plastic in the middle of all of the pocket springs ( as opposed to material covered buttons)
The mattress is 6 months old and my mother kept complaining about ‘something sharp’ sticking in her.
We had purchased a mattress protector and even with this in situ, on inspection I realised it was the plastic pieces causing the issue.
Ableworld sent an engineer and a report with pictures were sent to the company who manufactured the mattress.
Their response is ‘it’s a comfort issue’
Their solution is to purchase another mattress and send the original one for them to look at.
For them to come and look at the mattress we’d have to cover costs if £113.
So here we are, with a mattress with hard plastic all over it, not fit for purpose and my 80year old mum is worse off than she was when she had her old mattress if over 10years old.
Shameful response from the company and I feel Ableworld are hiding behind them.
The reason we went to able world is I believed they’d have tried and tested the products to provide the best goods for persons with mobility issues.
So you’ve been warned. Take a long hard look under the plastic when trying the mattress In store. Those plastic pieces are uncomfortable and a pressure sore hazard. Once you e purchased it, there’s no resolution.
I’m dumbfounded and disgusted by the responses and solutions offered and currently pursuing further advice vi trading standards and which?

We called in to the Congleton branch to make enquiries about car boot mobility scooters.
Were met by Julie and Linda and explained having borrowed one, we had decided to purchase one.
We were looking for something fairly basic as it will not be in constant use, but as soon as I mentioned that I had some spinal problems, I was strongly advised that a scooter with suspension would suit me best.
I tried out 2, one with and one without suspension and concluded that the advice was sound.
Consequently, we bought the scooter there and then, which we had not initially intended to.
Excellent friendly service, knowledgeable advice.
I would definitely recommend.
