I've been subscribed to acorn TV for… 18 months
I've been subscribed to acorn TV for over a year when suddenly I'm no longer able to watch anything and get the following error code "THE VIDEO YOU ARE TRYING TO WATCH IS ENCRYPTED AND WE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DECRYPT IT".
After repeated attempts to have this fixed I still get the same form email from them and nothing has been resolved. I'm trying to cancel now.
Always experience connection problems
Always experience connection problems. Support is good but the streaming service sucks. All of my other streaming services work fine ....acorn never loads successful.

I cancelled my account on 25/10/22 but was stilled charged the annual fee on 1/11/22. I have

Paid for one year - no REFUND/ refund received in Nov.
After paying for a year's subscription, I have had many problems with the AcornTV streaming. It would not let me watch 'next episodes' of a show or it would completely lock me out of any show. The customer service is terrible. It replies with generic responses that do not apply to my problems. I have cancelled my subscription, and now Acorn says it will not reimburse me. This is really terrible. IF YOU WANT TO WATCH ACORN SHOWS, SUBSCRIBE THROUGH ANOTHER SOURCE - SUCH AS AMAZON PRIME. ** I was informed through an Acorn email, that I will receive a refund, but not for a while.*# I wanted to add that I did receive my refund from Acorn.#
What a scam
What a scam. Took nearly £50 from my account and I never signed up. Refused to refund as it is outside the refund window. Luckily as I paid with Amex I get a refund from them. Acorn are bad, bad people.
Don't Waste your Time
I am in the UK although this is showing that I am in the US for some reason. I had a free trial of Acorn TV and really enjoyed it so took out a subscription. However after a few months, it transpired that they had never been able to take a payment from my card. This seemed to be because they use Stripe and oddly have no other payment method. I remember years ago having an issue with Stripe payments but can't remember what for. Acorn's customer service people were unable to help despite trying very hard and I wasted a considerable amount of time and effort working with them on the problem. It would seem my bank's policy is against using Stripe and I do not have any other kind of card or payment method. They suggested I get the subscription through Google. I did this only to find it was an 'android only' subscription which meant it would not play through my Samsung TV. So although I really wanted an Acorn subscription, they could not sort it for me. Having said that, when I did have it, it regularly kicked me out when my Freeview box started recording a programme and there were some programmes which just froze when I tried to get into them. Customer Services assured me they had escalated my complaint to their Senior Management Team about all of these issues but nobody had the courtesy to get back to me. In the end I cancelled the subscription. My advice? Don't bother with this channel, no matter how good it looks to the outside.
A total delight
I adore Acorn TV. It is the best! Amazing shows, reasonable pricing. Great customer service. So pleased with our subscriptions. Lots of delightful comedies, mysteries, historical stuff, tons of binge worthy fare. Highly recommend! My only regret is that I only discovered them a few years ago through a 1week trial. It's all PBS quality programming, and a lot of times, things form Acorn make their way to PBS. It's a billion times better than any of the other services.

Please help £4.99 has come out of my bank account I don't have an account with acorn tv ?! I have never signed up for this. Acorn tv is on prime I also clicked on it and I can't even watch anything it says I need to sign up (NOT THAT I WANT TO WATCH ANYTHING) I also checked amazon account and nothing on there for purchases all abit weird. How do I get a refund?
Sharp practice, Acorn
Suddenly found on Friday I had been debited £49.99 by Acorn. I Immediately raised a ticket and asked for a refund, since I had no warning this was going to happen.
I rceived a reply saying my ticket had been sent to their accounts department for review and a reply.
Since then, nothing.
This is not a great advert for their services.

Acorn is really great! Enjoying my subscription and when I had a glitch with my subscription, it was dealt with promptly and efficiently.
Very poor technical support.
I have had a streaming problem with Acorn TV for the last 8-10 weeks. After sending me a generic 'fix-it' email, I did everything they suggested and it didn't help. It has now been 6 weeks since my return email to say it still isn't streaming properly. As well, it does not allow 'pause', 'fast forward' or 'reverse'. Nothing has been done so I won't be renewing my subscription. I enjoy the programs but overall, very poor technical support. Not a streaming service I would recommend.

Both my mother and I signed up for week trials, both cards charged $74.99 (years subscription); no luck with 'customer services', now desperately seeking a phone number.

I never even signed up to them in there first place they they got details through Amozan Prime so disappointed in Amazon. They take money without even telling you and don't even have a customer service number to ring bunch of crooks so wrong
Had problems but they did fix them
I signed up for the trial and everything was great, then the upgrade to their android app made it useless on android. It will only do downloads on android (not web) so I could not download any shows.
Then.... when my trial was up they charged my credit card for the annual plan which I wanted because I had settled on just watching through a web browser.
Then..they took my money and now the entire site will not play any videos (just trailers). It wants me to subscribe even though I am already subscribed. It has been a week since I have tried to get this fixed.
They finally got my account fixed today after 2 weeks and I am now able to play videos through the web only. I do love their shows but they still need to get their app fixed because it is the only way you can download a show. I gave them 4 stars because their customer service rep was extremely friendly and helpful.
Why can't I cancel
I took up their offer of free trial in Nov 21, then discovered I couldn't use it on my tv/phone etc so went to cancel. Can't cancel & haven't been able to even after emails,bank,fb but they take out subscription every month, didn't even get the month free trial before they took first payment.Absolute rip off.

Yea wont be paying after free trial. Casting from desktop often freezes streams so have to use mobile. With 64mb download speed and perfect netflix etc i should easily be able to stream without problems. Terrible service from a company in this day and age!

I totally agree with the remarks below, I received 3 different emails from Acorn TV, regarding why I cannot download app to my new Samsung Tv. I can download app to my Samsung phone.
I been told I can join via Amazon prime to watch Acorn TV, that mean I have to pay for 2 service. 1 Amazon prime service 2 Acorn TV service,

Somehow, while trying to create a Disney+ account, Acorn have injected themselves into the mix and taken my bank details. This is a disgusting scam.
