Beware: do not fulfill its duties

We hired AEGIS to move our belongings from Georgia to North Carolina. The team was initially helpful and adaptable, and the delivery itself went smoothly. However, after unpacking, we discovered that three guitars, a laptop, and an amplifier were missing.

I contacted Frank, who seemed surprised and said he would search his storage. After that conversation, I received no updates. A week has passed with no response to my calls, voicemails, or texts. At this point, I have no indication that the missing items will be returned or that the $20K insurance included in the contract will be honored.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend AEGIS for any moving services.

Beware

Booked through American National Movers for an interstate move from Miami, FL, to Denver, CO in May 2026.

The company I booked through was American National Movers, but the actual carrier handling my belongings was Aegis Interstate Transport, also known as Aegis Moving And Storage. This was not something that was clearly disclosed to me when I booked the move.

The delivery was significantly delayed, and communicating with Aegis was extremely difficult. My emails and phone calls were not answered, and at one point we were genuinely concerned that we had lost our belongings.

When the shipment finally arrived, our furniture was damaged throughout the move. Based on the condition of the furniture and how it had been stacked and packed on the truck, it appeared that the way our belongings were loaded contributed to the damage.

Two of our bicycles were also missing from the delivery.

Frank, who we understood to be the owner of Aegis, initially told us that the bicycles had been dispatched on another truck and that they would be sent to us on the next truck going to the West Coast. We were told to wait for the next available shipment. Despite repeated follow-ups, that never happened.

Aegis later confirmed that the bicycles were still in its possession in Florida. Despite repeated attempts to get an update, Aegis has now stopped responding to our emails and calls. We still do not have our bicycles, a delivery date, or a clear plan for getting them back.

We also requested a copy of our bill of lading numerous times. Frank told us he was working on it, but Aegis never provided it. When we contacted the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), we were informed that the carrier should have provided the bill of lading at both pickup and delivery.

The broker we worked with, American National Movers, has also told us that they have had similar communication issues with Aegis involving other customers and that they have stopped working with Aegis.

I have filed a complaint with the FMCSA and am pursuing additional formal remedies.
If you are considering using this company, read the customer reviews carefully before trusting Aegis with your belongings. I wish I had done so. Based on the reviews I read and now our own experience, I would never have trusted this company with our furniture and personal property.

Delayed delivery, damaged furniture, missing property, failure to provide requested documentation, and virtually no communication. I strongly recommend staying away from Aegis Interstate Transport.

As of today, our two bicycles remain undelivered.

The contractSold by one company, moved by another, three items never showed up, and then he stopped answering

The contract. Signed May 26, 2026 with American National Movers LLC for a small shared load from Stuart, Florida to San Diego, California. Around $3,600. First available delivery date of June 15. No maximum delivery date anywhere in the document. I did not catch that at the time. Check for it.

The pickup. June 2. The crew and truck were not American National Movers. They were Aegis Moving and Storage out of Dade City, Florida. Nobody mentioned a second company at any point during booking or signing. On loading day I was told to send $1,820 by Venmo to a personal account in a name I'd never seen. That payment method and that payee appear nowhere in my contract.

The public record on both companies:
- American National Movers LLC, USDOT 4206216, registered March 2024 out of an apartment at 739 W 186th St Apt 6B in Manhattan. Zero power units. Operating authority NOT AUTHORIZED.
- Aegis Interstate Transport Inc, DBA Aegis Moving and Storage, USDOT 4447996, 14821 10th Street, Dade City FL. Operating authority NOT AUTHORIZED, no MC number, one truck, two drivers, and household goods listed as cargo carried. Same address as a previous Aegis entity, USDOT 3925523, which was 100 percent out of service with cancelled insurance.

Both of those are free to look up on the FMCSA SAFER site. I checked both again on August 22, 2026 and the status has not changed.

The delivery. Four dates promised, four dates missed: June 15, June 21 to 23, June 29, and July 8. Long stretches of no reply in between. My things eventually arrived in California in early July, about a month past the first available date.

The missing items. Three things never came off the truck: a 50 inch TV, a mid century armchair, and a large area rug.

Frank at Aegis answered at first, and he was clear about it. In writing:
"I definitely know we have those they were mixed, not separated, and I seen them on the floor. We will get those shipped out on the next truck to California."
"I'm pretty sure the chair and the two rugs we have, but I will have them look for the TV. The items are not lost. They're in the warehouse and whatever is missing we will ship out on another truck."

He asked me for a list. I sent a written list and photos on July 10. Then I followed up on July 14, July 15, July 17, and July 20. On the 20th he wrote: "The chair and rug are secured I was told."

I told him not to worry about the TV, I'd bought a replacement, and that the rug and chair would be great to get whenever.

That is the last time Frank replied to me. On August 18 I asked how he intended to handle compensation if he wasn't going to deliver. Nothing. On August 21 I sent one word, "Frank?" Delivered, no reply.

Where it stands. I have filed with FMCSA (complaint 00286449), the New York Attorney General (intake 1-1293035072), the DOT Office of Inspector General, and the BBB (complaint 24996906).

What I'd do differently. Ask, in writing, before you sign: are you the carrier, or are you brokering this to someone else, and what is their USDOT number.

Beware!

LOST ITEMS, AND THREATS OF ADDITIONAL CHARGES. We did not choose to do business with Aegis and would not have, but unfortunately our move was subcontracted out to them by the company we contracted with, which was Allegiance Van Lines. Read the other reviews for Aegis. Aegis never contacted us or returned calls unless they wanted more money. Frank, the owner of Aegis, contacted us and said that he had been paid nothing by Allegiance and that we needed to pay him directly that same day or he would take our furniture out of the truck and put it in storage and charge us an additional $1500 per day. Fortunately we were able to get the money to him in time to avoid the threatened storage fees. He contacted us again for the final payment, again demanding that it reach him that day. Due to the time zone difference (their company is based in Florida and we are in Arizona,) this was not sufficient notice to allow us to get to the bank before their cut off for wire transfers. Frank then demanded that we send him the same payment via Pay Pal so it would reach him immediately. We found a way to get him the additional $1650 via Pay Pal. Unfortunately, the bank transfer also went through the next business day, and he accepted the duplicate payment. We have yet to be able to speak to Frank regarding a refund of the second transfer. We have been contacting Allegiance customer service for assistance with this, but they have been no help. Apparently they neither have control over nor take any responsibility for any customer interactions with Aegis after they dump you. We have tried contacting Aegis directly, but have had no response. We will pursue this with a lawyer. Aegis picked up our furniture on June 10th and finally delivered on July 26th, only after we threatened to call police.
