It doesn't matter which Kindle device. I lost mine while moving. I was using Kindle for PC. Why is it worthless? In a clear presentation of the Peter Principle - one of Amazon's lesser lights, decided that Kindle must have complete control over libraries. Thus, when I opened Kindle, I noticed that the many books I had downloaded from Project Gutenberg, were showing as blank pages. When I opened my "Collections,"all Gutenberg books had been removed and could not be restored to their respective collections. Amazon may whine - that the books could be sent to Kindle - and given official scrutiny before being "approved." I have hundreds. There are other books available on PDF, that can be converted through Calibre. Same thing happened to them. I searched for alternatives and found that there was no such nonsense - books were permitted in Collections, no covers were blanked. The free version is limited. I bought the pro version and now have 11 hundred books, including those stored in "My Kindle Content."
What has happened to Kindle, is an example of middle managers - with bright ideas to impress the boss - but whose eagerness to show off their brainstorms leads to unforeseen consequences. I no longer use Kindle for PC, and see no point in owning a Kindle device. While I had to pay for the upgrade to Ice Cream Reader Pro - I am free of Amazon's dithering with Kindle and am able to enjoy my books again.

This company scammed me out of money and now they have completely ghosted me. The phone numbers they contacted me on do not work anymore. I haven’t gotten any email responses in months. I am a very small business owner and I cannot afford for things like this to happen. I paid for a service I never received. Each time I mentioned that this didn’t feel 100% and I wanted a refund I was gaslighted and transferred to another person who “assured” me they were working on my project. Now they are gone and I am out of a lot of money. I am a mom of 3 and I literally cannot afford what is happening.

Now the individual has completely ghosted me.

Phil Mayer at Amazon Kindle PRO Inc. charged me $10,700 for marketing my books. After I had worked with him for a few months, he asked for another $5350. Because he had not done any meaningful work up until then, I refused. He then stopped even the pretense of work and refused to return any money.
Prior to my initial investment, Phil made the plausible argument that all Amazon KDP companies must have fully satisfied customers. If they don’t, Amazon will revoke their rights to use the Amazon KDP name. That is garbage. Amazon had no interest in helping me get my money back or in punishing this particular franchise.
Normally, my credit card company would be able to get my money back because the company had not provided any goods or services. However, that was not the case because my payment went through Payoneer., I have since learned that the only job of Payoneer is to transfer money outside the US, which they did. Since Payoneer has no responsibility to perform services for me, my credit card company could not touch them.

I contracted with this outfit in February 2023 for publication of a book I had written and placement of the final product on Amazon.com. After many months of back and forth during the formatting process, I made the last corrections to a copy of the text and was told that the publishing process would begin immediately. Two weeks passed, so I e-mailed the guy (Zack) with whom I had been working to ask where the process stood. I never received a reply to that e-mail. Sometime later, a person who knows me and knew that I was having a book published said that she saw my book on Amazon.com ! I couldn't believe it, so I contacted Amazon and was told that my e-mail address did not match the e-mail address of the person who set up the account ! I knew then that I had been scammed by the outfit billing itself as amazonkindleprosinc.com ! My book is selling, but the royalties are going to someone else ! So, I'm writing this complaint to warn other authors to AVOID amazonkindleprosinc.com !!
