My assessment increased from $422,700 last year to $517,800 this year (to go into effect for the 2027 tax season). I submitted your company’s documentation along with the tailored cover letter. I also asked for the appraiser’s documentation. About 10 days is so later the county assessor called me and agreed my assessment was too high. We agreed on the median of the listed properties vs the lowest 25th percentile the rounded it down to an even $432,000. In other words the assessment was reduced by $85,800. I live in rural New Mexico which is a non-disclosure state and pretty difficult to build a protest. So I love the idea of appeal desk getting the comparables in minutes versus me trying to find them at realtor offices. But a pill dust refunded my $49 because they couldn't find enough comparables to support my protest. But the silver lining is the assessor didn't have the comparables either. So the valuation increases I was experiencing from the assessor's office we're totally without foundation and simply arbitrary.
So I emailed a pill dusk and told them I'd be willing to pay the $49 even for one or two comparables that were weak just to have something to present. But incredibly they would not take my money and they still gave me some wonderful input and data that I would never have found anywhere else.
In this day and age where companies are just so money hungry and greedy I can't tell you how refreshing it is to find a company with honesty and integrity that bent over backwards to make sure I went into my protest fully equipped. My hearing was on August 21st so I still don't have a determination. But if it wasn't for appeal desk input it would have been a much harder mountain to climb on my own. My interactions with Travis was nothing short of incredible. My wife said that he is the salt of the earth in this day and age where greed and corruption are so prevalent, to find an individual that is truly concerned about their customers and their success in appealing their valuations with the property tax division, is truly remarkable.
