Left after one night – unsafe, filthy, and distressing
Bayview Sunset Resort is the worst place I’ve ever stayed.
We had no contact from the resort after messaging them multiple times before arrival. The path to our room had exposed pipes, uneven ground, and a small hole patched with broken wood from derelict buildings still on site. These abandoned structures were surrounded by rubbish and flies.
The room smelled strange, and the towels had an odd, unpleasant scent. We tried to go to the beach, but a barge was docked on the sand while a JCB loaded rubbish onto it. The beach was covered in broken glass my partner cut her foot.
That night, we came back to find the bathroom floor full of millipedes. After cleaning them up, I discovered cockroaches in my wash bag and rodent droppings on it. I had to throw away all my toiletries.
My partner called reception. The owner told her we wouldn’t get a refund and could leave if we didn’t like it. A staff member laughed and said cockroaches are in every room.
We were forced to switch rooms, which also had millipedes and dangerous exposed screws in the wet room. The entire resort was falling apart.
In the morning, we saw animal waste outside reception swarming with flies. A kitten near reception had an elastic band tightly around its face. Staff admitted someone had put it there “for no reason.” We later found this is a cruel act known as “banding.”
We left after just one night, losing money to get away. This place is not fit for guests
