I've tried other ways to learn Spanish, and I have found Berges to be the best. I need to have the external accountability of a class at a certain time, and others that are counting on me to be there. The instructors have varied methods for teaching that allow you to find the right fit, while still following the same syllabus so you can make up classes as needed. Receiving immediate feedback from native speakers helps me feel much more confident!

I've tried several in person and online language programs to improve my Spanish. The program with Berges has been a great experience. The pacing and material is well-organized. My co-students are engaged and fun to see every week. Our teacher, Monica, is phenomenal. She is engaging, organized and seems to truly enjoy spending time with us.

The course tutor was very good at encouraging the whole group. Due to unforeseen travel plans, I missed the last class but intend going over the course again to embed it in my aged brain.

Our instructor Juan Carlos was great! He made learning easy and fun. I liked how he didn't always stick to the book which made the learning more relevant, I think.

Also, he would discern between what's said in Latin America versus what's said in Spain. That's helpful.

I liked, too, that he would make sure we all practiced even if we weren't always comfortable speaking. He was always encouraging.

As far as the program itself, it was really good IF you practice and do the homework. They also make it super easy to find another class if you can't make a class this particular week.

Overall, it was a great way to learn and practice Spanish. I'd definitely recommend.

I’m currently in Level 3, and this program has been a great fit for me. I started at Level 2 with some prior Spanish experience, but also plenty of gaps in my learning, and the structure of the classes has really helped fill those in.

Yuli, my teacher, is excellent. She shares her screen to incorporate images and write out words or phrases as we go, which makes it much easier to follow and retain new material. She creates a supportive learning environment—patient, encouraging, and never intimidating. Her corrections are both gentle and consistent, which has helped me improve without feeling self-conscious.

I feel more confident speaking and understanding Spanish, and I’d highly recommend this class to anyone looking to strengthen their skills in a comfortable, engaging setting. I also appreciate the ease with which we can reschedule a class or even watch an online video if we miss a session.

I can’t recommend Gloria Alveal enough as a Spanish teacher. She is incredibly patient, supportive, and genuinely makes every class enjoyable. In just a few months, I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my Spanish, especially in my confidence speaking.

The Berges program itself has been a great experience. The website is easy to navigate, scheduling is flexible, and it’s simple to adjust classes as needed. The instructors do a great job of keeping you challenged while still making the learning process feel approachable and rewarding. I appreciate the email reminders from Berges as well!

I grew up speaking "Spanglish" but never learned proper conjugation or spelling. This was a great beginner's class and Gaston was a great teacher. I like the smaller class sizes too. Very convenient and with being able to reschedule classes so you don't miss anything. I'm already speaking more confidently and look forward to Level 2.

I live in Costa Rica and needed to learn Spanish. Since finishing up level one; I am able to put together simple sentences and talk simply to people. I have more confidence now and so excited to move onto level 2. Can’t wait until the day where I am fluent!!! Totally recommend this course to all.

I took my first class at the Berges Institute with Yuli Casallas, and I just wanted to say how amazing it was.

First off, the materials and format they followed were great and very easy to understand. I especially liked the homework because it really pushed me to learn and grow.

Yuli was patient, calm, and a very attentive listener. What I really liked was how she kept the lesson on the screen and made notes live during the class, then sent us the marked-up lesson notes afterward. That was incredibly helpful.

She also paced the class well, gave great examples, and was encouraging and friendly. She pushed us to speak, but in a way that felt safe and supportive.

I really appreciated her teaching style. I was pushed to learn and I did, thanks to Yuli! I’m really looking forward to another class with her soon.

Excellent classes, excellent instructor, patient and positive and we go in depth

I took beginner level one with Monica Negron. Monica is a great teacher and I have enjoyed the classes and learned a lot. This is way better than Duolingo for learning a new language. The pace and structure are just right to keep the learning going.

I have taken Levels 1 and 2 online at Berges Institute with Yuli Casallas Amaya, and she is truly a wonderful instructor. She is patient, kind, and incredibly supportive. Yuli explains concepts slowly and carefully, always checking for understanding and never rushing students. She is more than willing to repeat or rephrase explanations, slow things down, and even communicate outside of class when needed.

She consistently sends clear recaps of each class along with homework assignments, which makes it much easier to stay organized and confident in what we are learning. Most importantly, she creates a safe and encouraging learning environment. She never shames or embarrasses students and makes everyone feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

Yuli is an outstanding teacher, and I highly recommend her to anyone learning Spanish through Berges Institute.

I have tried several Spanish lessons and Berges is the best. You can take conversation classes if you just want to practice chatting, or you can take lessons with homework if you want to a more structured approach. Having the same group in classes every week, being accountable for homework, and the laid back comfortable atmosphere is perfect for me. Plus, watch their website for deals if you intend to do 3 months at a time.

I found the teacher and the course interesting and motivating. The classes are well done and the homework just what we need when we have a busy life. Also, I needed to refresh my Spanish; the lessons were perfect to put me back on track.

I researched programs extensively (both online classes and in person) to fulfill a huge goal to have conversational Spanish (both of my daughters are in love with men from families who only speak Spanish). The reviews for Berges were outstanding and the price for beginners was amazing. I landed on Gloria Aveal as my teacher and I am so happy I did. She is funny, engaging, patient, and gently prods for all of us to push forward. By the end of ten sessions, we were able to communicate in Spanish and understand a great deal of what was being said. I am excited beyond measure of where I will be after another ten weeks. I am sticking with Gloria, but I love that if I need flexibility with days or times, that is also available. Stop waiting and sign up.

I really enjoy classes the Berges, the flexibility of scheduling is great and the material is broken out in a way that is easy to follow. I chose Yuli as my instructor and she has been amazing! I really enjoy her style of teaching and that she takes the time to reenforce the material through practice. I chose to continue with Yuli for level 2 as well.

I had taken college Spanish many years ago and wanted to renew my skills. Basic Spanish with Yuli as a teacher and the Berges Institute proved to be the perfect option for me. Starting with the basics, each 90 minute class offers new material, an opportunity to practice and Yuli is a friendly, patient teacher. Yuli provided additional engaging teaching materials during class and then sent the materials out afterwards to assist with review and studying. I also really liked the ability to switch the class to a different time if my schedule required it. I found that completing the homework kept me focused and on track. Thanks Yuli for a great experience!

I started Spanish beginners with Rolando Gonzalez at Berges Institute unsure of how I'd enjoy the online learning experience.

I love this Spanish school! For a monthly fee, you can take as many classes as you want. The instructors are generally very good to excellent. The school is on eastern time and it can be a bit restrictive for people living on the west coast because some of the classes will be very, very early, and there are no evening classes for people on Pacific time. I would definitely give 5 stars if they had evening classes on Pacific time.

Fabulous language program. I’ve just completed Level 1 and loved that it moves at a good pace compared to some classes where you spend ages on the very basic. It’s also very flexible allowing you to change between a wide range of days and times. Nelson Navarette was my main instructor and he gets 5 out of 5 for endless enthusiasm and making learning fun.
