Why? 1)Their response time; almost immediate (within same day)
2)Their courtesy and customer care attitude which is efficient, intuitive & intelligent 3)Their prompt action and resolution, again response time was immediate. Reasons for requesting help, minor issues i) DPD poor / late carrier service ii) faulty washer, resolved the same day ( by phone and email.
Finally; the product is beautiful, sitting in my kitchen, not detracting from the cottage space I have carefully designed. It is doing what I bought it for; the smooth silky taste/experience is an improvement on the Malvern water I previously collected by car from a Malvern Spring; therefore in the long run will be money saving too. I’ve used different water filters for many years due to all the harmful chemicals that are said to be in our drinking water and the way our country is obsessed with cutting costs (and corners) I’m sure there’s more horrible stuff lurking in there.
Anyway all previous filters have to be changed every few months which is a pain and also very costly if this is to continue for life.
I then noticed the Berkey and from what I’ve read (different sites say different things) the filters can last for years with only needing a clean now and then and they can also filter out more than a usual filter does. Although I have not tested the filtered water to prove otherwise.
My wife has noticed the difference and says the water tastes good.
I have two negatives. Mine was delivered with a large dent in the side but I was able to push it back out but there is still a slight dent but not as noticeable. I had read other reviews about receiving dented products so this can still be an issue. But doesn’t stop the water being filtered.
My last negative is a bit odd considering the price of these things. My Berkey has four holes inside. Two are used for the black filters and the spare two holes are bunged with the included stoppers. The washers on these stoppers have a strong oily / petrol smell to them and when you separate the two stainless tanks to check how much water is left you are hit with a waft of this strong oil smell as there’s no where for the air to vent in the bottom tank and so the smell builds up. This worries me a bit as this could leach into the filtered water and is very odd why these washers would be included on such an expensive product that is supposed to filter out all impurities. Because of this I have my doubts on what materials are used inside the black filters and whether there are any other residues seeping into the water.
I know it’s the washers that are the culprit because I’ve stripped it all down multiple times to clean only to find the smell remains. Upon stripping a cleaning a final time I smelled everything and found it was the bung / stopper washers where the smell was the strongest. Again I have read a different review where someone had a very similar if not identical issue so it’s not just my filter that is questionable. I will have to find and purchase some different food grade washers from elsewhere but what a complete hassle after spending so much on something that you’d expect to be perfect for that price. So yes I’m left unsure as to the quality of the filters themselves.
On a positive it doesn’t leak and looks smart sat in the worktop. If it is filtering properly then I hope to have many years of good water out of the one set of filters which will save me money in the long run.

The Big Berkey is a Top notch water filter. The water tastes so good that I drink it all day. The preparation of the filters was a bit tricky as I have a wobbly tap, but it is worth the 10 minutes it took. I would recommend this product.

This is a tremendous product. We’ve used it for 5 years and the stuff it filters out is incredible which you can see when you have to clean it. And that’s what you buy these Berkey’s to filter out the bad stuff that is in our water.

I bought a Travel Berkey in Nov 2020, then also a Berkey shower filter, and several sports bottles. Love them! Last week, Jan 2022, I noticed a pool of water around where my Travel Berkey is standing in my kitchen... mopped it up... it reappeared. I started to look online for solutions, and thought it might be the spigot leaking. I contacted Berkey Water Filters UK and ask if it's covered by warranty - yes! It arrived within a couple of days. Guided by a video I thoroughly cleaned everything and reassembled, with the new spigot which now has an improved washer. Hey presto! All is fine! Delighted how simple it is. The one improvement I would love to see would be a window or some kind of gauge in the bottom chamber to see the water level. Thank you for such excellent service! I'm now going to order more gym bottles for my fitness-mad kids...

Does not work. Installed our filter a couple of weeks ago. didnt feel to be doing much, so tested hardness of water passing through shower filter, and is showing exactly the same hardness as our non filter fitted shower, both showing 425ppm. Also tested Britta filtered water, which showed a ppm of 0. Have tried calling Berkey, as clearly this was a waste of money. I left a message a couple of days ago asking for a call back, still waiting…to sun it up: steer clear. It doesn’t work & customer service so far impossible to get a hold of…

I'm verry WORRY. I never receive my filter!!!!

Thanks to Brexit, we had a slight complication with some customs fees for some replacement cartridges ordered on the German website but provided through the UK distribution. I was expecting a huge hassle, but Natalia from customer service blew me away with her fast, professional and friendly responses and the way she simply solved the problem without a lot of extra discussion. Excellent service like this is rare in today's world!

I have been using Berkey Waterfilters from this company for over a year now. Everything‘s working great. The filtered water tastes good. Delivery was also fast. The way to assemble and prime them is also not too hard. They also have instruction videos for that.

I am very happy with Berkey. Ordering replacement parts is very quick and easy. Water tastes great and there is no smell of chlorine when you drink it unlike the tap water so no doubt i works. The only thing I found daunting was the red food coloring test. It is extremely difficult to buy completely artificial food colouring in Ireland but the one I bought was as artificial as you can get. However the water turned quite pink when tested. I took it as the filters need changing,had them for two years. I bought new once and repeated the test with the same result. Checked all screws etc. I dismissed it eventually and convinced myself that the food colouring was not completely artificial. Wrote to berkey about it but havent got a response. I will continue to use the filters but with doubt in the back of my mind. Berkey sells the recommended food colouring but at outrageous price.

We have had our Berkey now for about 6 months and I am absolutely thrilled with it. The taste of the water is so fresh and clean. I tried to drink some tap water the other day and I could even smell the additives contained within it, it tasted like bleach! I was surprised at just how clean and fresh the Berkey makes the water. We have added the fluoride filters to ours, which I also highly recommend and wouldn't be without. Fab product, easy to clean and so easy to set up as there are very clear video's to watch on their website. A friend has since bought one after tasting our fresh water. So pleased..Thank you Berkey and keep up the good work! :-)
A word of advice...Yes Berkey is a considered purchase but PLEASE don't be tempted to try a cheaper one claiming to be Berkey. In my opinion no one can compare to the original Berkey. :-)

I have been using big berkey for 5 years, Water tastes great, easy to clean and has good built quality.

The filters are very messy and difficult to prime and the water takes a long time to pass through. We're happy to have filtered water in large scale but the cost of the container seems overblown, the design not commensurate to the cost - rubber stoppers shoved into the holes not used for filters? Very basic. Overall, our Berkey seems overpriced and underwhelming. It does the job ok, but nothing remarkable here and the returns process looked so inhospitable and overwhelming we chose to make due.

Offer next day delivery on their website made me wait 8 days with no contact when I called they blamed their warehouse. The life of a 4 month old baby depends on this. They offered me 40% discount when I had been promised 50% then cancelled the order due to me threatening legal action.
