I have dealt with all sorts of flood insurance. This is THE BEST hands down. Essentially a one-stop, online broker. I have used it twice in the past month: It saved a client $10000. I ended up with a Chubb policy which saved me nearly $700. I am going to reprice all my properties when I receive the renewals.
This is the second time I’ve worked with this company. They have been exceptional in their response times and found a policy for half the amount another group offered.

Couldn't be worse, called, no answer, "leave a message and we'll get back to you within 4 business hours", 6 weeks later, 4 emails and app 12 phone calls leaving messages the latter more urgent than prior because my bank is going to triple my cost if I don't secure flood insurance asap and still nothing, gave up, went to insurox and got a much better quote anyway so thank God!! I can only assume they cannot handle the volume and likely are inundated by the recent catastrophe but could at least change their voicemail to reflect.

My inquiry was for flood insurance on a home due to FEMA flood map updates in my area. I contacted Better Flood for a quote and their policy coverage was more cost effective than others so I filled out an application.
The application process was fairly seamless and well as paying for the policy (using STRIPE). My concern as I write this review is with Better Flood’s lack of communication on when the policy will be issued (the declaration page) so I can submit it to my mortgage company to provide proof that I now have flood insurance.
My Better Flood Insurance nerd was Celeb and he said that this underwriter (AON Edge) typically issues the policy after payment is received and thought it could be issued last Friday but expected it the following Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). I contacted Caleb on Tuesday and he said he would follow up with the underwriter. I have not heard back from Caleb on a status so on Wednesday I contacted Better Flood’s main contact number I spoke with Suzie, the office manager. She gave me some boiler plate language that the underwriter processes policies in the order received and handles policies that involve homes in a closing status as priority. In essence, they will eventually get around to issuing the policy.
I just want a status from the underwriter (e.g. it will be a couple more days, the policy will be issued on x date, etc.) so I can communicate this to my mortgage company. Somehow this request has proven to be rather elusive when dealing with Better Flood Insurance.

While I still can't 100% recommend Better Flood Insurance / Flood Nerds due to a poor experience I had while they were updating their IT systems, they were very professional and communicative in assisting with my refund for a policy that quadrupled in cost and that I therefore canceled. I suspect that my cancelation experience was an anomaly.
Here is my original review--while I understand that they were updating their IT, I still had a poor experience as a paying customer who emailed a company several times with no response...yet they responded to me almost immediately after I posted one star reviews.
The team - I emailed with Tesha, Susie, and Robert - was very responsive during the process of enrolling me for flood insurance, but they vanished when I asked them to not renew my policy due to a quadrupling of the premium.
After three unanswered emails over several weeks to several people at Better Flood, Susie responded to me that they “cannot stop the renewal process from happening.” I don't understand how that's possible, especially several weeks in advance. That’s like your car insurance company telling you they can’t turn stop a renewal so you’re stuck with them forever. Very disappointing.
My mortgage company received a renewal bill and paid it, so I now have to spend a lot of time trying to fix a situation that should have been avoided in the first place. It was a big hassle that should never have happened.
