3 years ago my partner and i were fighting a long-term battle with damp and mould, This also had an effect on my partner health too. I meet Andrew from BETTER INDOORS. He explained this new type of airflow system that regulates the temperature in your home etc. All i can say is that it has made our lives better without the worries of having any more Damp or Mould in our home. And over the last 3 years everything is fine. It has also helped alot with our health as my partner and i used to have bad chest infection. The airflow system has DEFINITELY helped with our health because we no longer suffer with breathing difficulties and chest infections any more. This is definitely the best thing we have done.
I would personally like to thank Andrew Hobbs he is a man who knows what he is talking about.

Great service and communication by the team. System designed and installed with a personal touch, which gave me confidence to what was quite a troubling radon issue. The results speak for themselves and now the levels are well below action guidelines. I would highly recommend the service.

After suffering from frequent unexplained cold symptoms for the past couple of years and finding out I have a mild sensitivity to dust mites, I decided to look for a company that could carry out an assessment in my house to test the air quality. After contacting a few different companies, Better Indoors responded to me very quickly and were the only ones that could offer the service I was looking for (the other companies said they only focused on commerial properties).

On the day of the assessment Andrew was very professional and clearly very knowledgeable. He identified that the ventilation strategy currently in my house was very poor and likely contributing to increased dust mite populations. He recommended a comprehensive solution that would improve the air quality of my home.

I was very satisfied with the service provided.

We contacted a number of providers but in our opinion no-one came close to Better Indoors & Andrew Hobbs! We were prepared to pay for a higher priced solution to get our desired air quality but Andrew re-assured us that his ventilation system would make our cellar feel more comfortable especially when friends & family are to stay over. We are absolutely thrilled with the radon mitigation work completed in our house. The team installed two positive pressure pumps and an extractor fan, and the entire process was seamless from start to finish. The work was done in a very timely manner, and we were astonished to see our radon readings plummet from over 900 Bq/m³ to just 20 Bq/m³.
​The installation was completed to an excellent standard. We feel so much safer in our home now and highly recommend Better Indoors to anyone in need of radon mitigation services.

Our 2 bedroom ground floor flat in Tadworth Surrey suffered recurrent condensation and black mould every winter. We tried various remedies and solutions over the years as recommended by various “experts” but every time the problems returned the following winter (and sometimes during the same winter). We saw an advert for Better Indoors which appeared to offer innovative solutions to these common problems with good reviews on Trustpilot so we decided to contact the company. The survey was completed quickly during which the root cause was explained. None of the previous experts had given this explanation and we immediately realised this was why their solutions had not worked - because they never addressed the true root cause of the problem and only treated the symptoms. We decided to proceed, the installation was completed quickly and we were astonished at how quickly the solution worked. Literally the following morning all condensation on our windows had disappeared never to return and we have not seen any black mould since either. On top of that my breathing sensitivity that had been a problem for many years has improved enormously, the indoor air quality is much improved, we can dry clothing indoors without it taking hours, we dont get drowsy in the afternoons any more when working from home and our heating bills have reduced as we now keep our windows closed all through the winter. Highly recommended..

Essentially, what made Better Indoors great was Andrew's expertise and knowledge. He recommended 3 options to reduce our high level of Radon (450bq m3) and agreed with our choice to go forward with two of the options to improve the ventilation in our new build house.
Neil, who installed the mitigations was really professional and completed the work in half a day, cleaning up any mess as he went along.
In the past week we have received the follow up Radon reading from the UKHSA which is now 31bq m3. We are delighted with the outcome and wouldn't hesitate to recommend others to use Better Indoors for this type of work.

We investigated a whole series of Radon firms. Andrew was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, detailed and flexible to our needs. He did not try to push every solution on us but found the best one. The installer, Neil, was punctual, polite and very efficient and professional, a delight to have in our home. And on top of all this, the solution (an extraction pump from the void underneath the house) has worked brilliantly, AND the price of the was very competitive. I have no hesitation in recommending Andrew and the team for anyone who is worried about sorting out Radon in their home. Thanks guys!

I had the installation of Wall Mounted High Performance Extractors in my flat to solve the problem of condensation and mould issues.
I have had a good personal experience of the company, Better Indoors, right from the time of survey of my flat by its owner to assess the problem to the installation work that was done last week (30th.Aug.’24).
The installer, Neil Goodridge was very efficient and professional and did a good job and also thanks to him for clearing up all the mess after he finished.
Now I’m looking forward to enjoying the benefits of this installation.

Very happy with the service received from Andrew and the team. Had an initial call with Andrew to discuss the issue and his proposed solution, which was very helpful and informative. Helen was very helpful and efficient in arranging the the installation and we managed to book it in without much delay at all. Neil did a cracking job of installing the system and provided great communication and feedback. Overall a very professional service from all and I would highly recommend.

This is a very efficient company. Andrew arrived punctually to survey our property, inspected every room and the loft spaces, and explained very clearly what needed to be done to solve out damp problem, and how (and why) it would work. Having reached an agreement, we did not have to wait long for the work to begin. The engineer arrived on time, completed the job with minimum disruption, and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. Our dealings with the company office were handled cordially. All in all, the company inspires confidence, and I suspect it has saved me from wasting time and money with another company that lacked the expertise of Better Indoors.

I'm a property manager, dealing with a lot of property, and of course, dampness is a big issue I face a lot.

I wasn't sure about these guys but they offered a guarantee and seemed to be a font of knowledge, so I got them booked on two of my properties.

The team followed through with all their promises, the works were done exactly as they were meant to, on time and very cleanly. Both sets of tenants have been shocked by the difference the work has made.

I'm blown away by the service and will absolutely be working with them again.

When I finally discovered Better Indoors I was at my wits' end with a bathroom ventilation issue in a recently refurbished rental property. Unlike the other companies I contacted for a quote, Andrew was the only person to respond - and quickly and professionally at that. He'd been recommended by my property manager, who'd had a good experience with Better Indoors, so I felt confident to go ahead.

The bathroom in question has no windows, so relies on mechanical ventilation to prevent damp and condensation. The flat is occupied by four young professionals, so there's heavy use.

Having spent a significant sum in 2020 upgrading the property and fitting a completely new bathroom, we mentioned the need for a powerful extractor fan to our builders. No problem, they said, we'll install the most powerful option we can find. Ducting would travel through boxing in the adjacent bedroom and out through an external wall. All this was duly completed - or so we thought...

In the intervening years our tenants have repeatedly complained about the damp and mould, but despite doing their best to leave the door open whenever possible, there wasn't much more they could do. Every year I would send in a decorator and professional cleaners to bring things back to the original condition, but the costs were racking up, and conditions were deteriorating within week. Finally my property manager suggested I try a professional ventilation company. Enter Better Indoors...

Within a few days Andrew had provided a quote, which I accepted. When the engineer attended the property to begin work a short while later, discovered the following issues:

1. The existing fan was not connected to a power supply: it was simply fixed on the wall.
2. The non-powered fan did not have any duct to connect with the bathroom grille.
3. There was no core hole drilled on the external wall -luckily the fan did not extract anything anyway, otherwise there would have been water leaks visible through the plaster box.
4. The grille used in the bathroom was an external grille, not an extract diffuser. Even if the existing fan had been in working condition, without any duct and an extract grille, it would have been inefficient.
5. There was lots of mould formed behind the box profile, which our installer did his best to clean off. This was caused by the humidity travelling though the bathroom grille.

According to Better Indoors, builders (and even electricians) should not be installing ventilation products or undertaking such jobs, as they simply don’t have the specialist skills.

I wish I had know all this at the time. In my ignorance I accepted my builder's reassurance that his builders and electricians could deal with this effectively. I've incurred so many unnecessary costs, and my tenants have had to live with unacceptable conditions in the bathroom.

The ventilation now seems to be working really well, so it has been a costly lesson to get things right from the outset. Having said that, I found Better Indoors' price to be very reasonable (£950 plus VAT) and good value.

I'm happy to report that one year on, the system is still working well and the condensation issues have resolved.

This company was the only one to respond to my initial contacts when looking for advice and possible remedial work for radon levels in our new house. They were able to give sensible advice by email and more detail after looking at detailed photos of the house and the plans. The person who works in the office was very professional and patient with us when we had to wait a while before making arrangements, due to dealing with solicitors etc. They checked details carefully and turned up when they said they would. The work was completed on time with minimal mess, and the installer was very knowledgeable, giving us a good explanation of the benefits of the PIV system and advice about various other useful things around the place!

I was asked by a prospective buyer of one of my London properties to check a potential damp issue in the front living room and kitchen area. These are small areas close to ground level no more than 1m2 in total size. There is some light discolouration on the wallpaper surface but the surface is bone dry. I called in a well known PCA registered damp proofer who said there was penetrating damp pretty much everywhere on the ground and first floor rooms due to defective roof, flashings, rendering/pointing and window sills and quoted over £11k for new DPC. Their report was surprising not least because they had apparently discovered problems that we never knew we had in rooms they didn’t even go into. I decided to get a second opinion from Better Indoors who advised the true root cause as humidity related due to the performance of the ventilation strategy and nothing to do with the structure. They demonstrated how the problem could not possibly be structural and proved how it was humidity related in front of me. The damp proofer never even mentioned the ventilation strategy and was in and out in less than 15 mins without asking any questions. I would recommend Better Indoors for service and value for money and avoid fly-by-night damp proofers who propose costly major structural treatments without offering any real explanation or evidence as to why they are needed.

Andrew and his staff came and did a very thorough inspection of our damp problems. Luckily it had not gotten out of hand and we learned a lot about the cause of those issues, and the most sustainable way of addressing them for the long term. The quote was thorough and the installation went smoothly. Neil was neat in his work approach, needed little guidance and was done in less than half a day of work.

I had a new issue with dampness on a solid floor and arranged a visit with Better Indoors. The property has always been prone to condensation which had been under control, but often reappears. Andrew gave me good advice, explaining the issues around the appearance of condensation on various internal surfaces, and offering a potential solution. After doing some homework and getting a second opinion, I went ahead and arranged to have a PIV unit fitted in a bedroom recess. This was done quickly and Ruben did a very tidy and professional job.
The PIV now appears to have resolved the issues and I have had no issues with condensation throughout the property since, despite the freezing weather.
I would be very happy to recommend Better Indoors if you are experiencing similar issues in a property.

The whole experience, from the initial survey to the fitting of the PIV system and subsequent follow up has been excellent. We were given a very clear explanation of why we were experiencing condensation issues and how the PIV system would solve these. The engineer who came to fit our unit was very polite and professional and took great care to ensure that the system was fitted to be as unobtrusive as possible. In fact it looks as though it was part of the original structure of the property. we've had no condensation issues at all since fitting even on days when the outside air temperature has been below freezing. Definitely recommend.
