Darren was super helpful, encouraging and supportive in teaching my 13 & 11 year old sons to cycle. His enthusiasm and calm advice helped them to be cycling within the hour. We look forward to using his tips and keeping going over the coming weeks.

I was put at ease by Darren immediately, he explained everything in a really simple and straightforward way, gave great practical advice and recommendations for how to continue to improve and even bikes to buy. I didn't expect to learn as much as quickly as I did.

I honestly never thought I would learn to cycle, I was so scared of not being able to balance. Within a few minutes Darren had me cycling. Darren was so calm and patient, he completely settled my nerves and made the learning process fun. Thanks so much Darren!

Darren is absolutely fantastic. In one session he helped me boost my confidence in riding my bike on the roads. He is very patient and understanding, he demonstrated certain situations multiple times and answered all my questions. He is also very careful with road safety and although I was extremely nervous to ride on the road at first, he made sure to monitor the surroundings and provide a shield, which made me very comfortable to ride. Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend this more highly. This was such a good experience and I wish I had reached out to Bike Happy earlier. Darren is an excellent teacher, friendly and helpful, and took a complete novice (me) to someone who could happily ride around in a single session. The session was well explained/structured and really broke down the aspects of riding so they all fitted together. Darren was on hand with very helpful tips and ways of thinking about bikes that made the process we easier. Although I was nervous and had no experience with bikes, I now feel amazingly enthusiastic about riding more and that is down to this session.

Darren was such an encouraging and patient instructor. His simple methodology made it easy to quickly progress from gliding to properly biking! I was sceptical that after 1 full session I would be comfortably biking but was thrilled to be proven wrong! I so highly recommend doing this - at any age!

What a star Darren is! My daughter learned to cycle in literally less then 3 hours. Darren is absolutely wonderful coach, very knowledgable , patient, caring, professional and a very kind person.
We’d give him 7 out of 5 stars. Grateful for his help in achieving a wonderful life skill with such an ease and good humour. Absolutely brilliant and highly recommended coach. Money very well spent. Very grateful parents of a 9 year old girl who didn’t want to learn and thanks to Darren now loves cycling.

Darren is so patience and just a wonderful person and teacher. My 8 year old was riding on day 2 and now there is no stopping in her!!!!!

I haven't ridden a bike properly in 15 years since my early teens, and was never any good to begin with. For years I really felt that riding a bike wasn't for me, but I wanted to try again as riding a bike would open up so many possibilities. With a lot of hope but not a lot of confidence, I signed up for a 2.5 hour lesson - I thought it would take me many sessions to ride again but why not give it a shot.

Within an hour I was pedaling around, wondering why I didn't do this years ago. The exercises were great, working on turning, awareness, signaling (still getting used to the harnds free idea). I went for a short ride the next day and yep, could still ride! Darren was fantastic: Calm, kind, and knew exactly how to get me pedaling again, and then how to build additional skills from there. If you have thought about riding to open up travel, commuting, etc but found it overwhelming, please sign yourself up for lessons! It's never too late and I wish I did this years ago!

I wanted to to ride a bike before the age of 40, after many attempts and some epic fails I was convinced I couldn’t do it. Darren listened to my concerns and took his time to explain the golden rules of riding a bike. Darren’s calm demeanour, knowledge and encouragement had me balancing and riding a bike within 15 minutes. After 2.5 hours I felt exhilarated and now can’t wait to get a bike of my own.
I am truly thankful for the training session and would recommend Darren to anyone who wants to learn to ride a bike or learn new skills.

I would highly recommend using happy bike. I signed up to the learn to ride session as I didn’t know how to ride a bike at all. I was a bit nervous and didn’t really think I would learn to ride a bike at the end of the session, but decided to give it a try as it was something I really wanted to do. Within half an hour of meeting Darren I was cycling, which was amazing! I might add I’m not particularly fit or sporty, I was even worried I would be too big for the bike. Darren was really positive and supportive, he explained the process and took me though it step by step and then took me on a Santander rental bike so I would feel confident using them as I said I’d be using them to practice temporarily. I think if I was looking to take the next step and cycle on busy roads I would definitely contact Darren and take another session. If you are keen to learn to cycle and you are able to take the class I would wholeheartedly recommend you do this. I didn’t think I could ride a bike and I’ve already independently taken a rental bike out twice and my class was only yesterday.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! A brilliant experience from start to finish. My five year old was riding by the start of the second lesson and loved the whole experience. Darren is both friendly and fun and as such is perfectly suited to calming any child's nerves or fears they may have about learning to cycle.

My 6 year old learnt to cycle with Darren over 3 days. Darren was brilliant with him and on day 2 he could cycle just needed to work on balance. I would highly recommend bikehappy

Darren taught my daughter skills required for bikebility level 1 and some aspects of level 2. He gave great practical tips and taught with great care which helped her increase her cycling confidence. I would thoroughly recommend Darren.

Darren is a total star. My daughter really struggled learning to ride a bike and he put her at ease, understood her fears and over a few sessions manage to get her riding. Unreservedly recommend!

We had such a fantastic experience with Darren. Right from the start he made our son feel relaxed and at ease. Within a couple of sessions he was riding safely and with confidence. Absolutely brilliant and could not recommend highly enough!

Darren is awesome!!! He’s very patient and skilled at what he does. Our son is six and Darren was very good at engaging with him and making sure he understood everything that was being said. He looked forward to his sessions and was riding his bike by himself on the second day. He instilled confidence and a love for cycling. We can’t thank you enough!

My session with Darren has given me such a confidence boost to start cycling. Within just one hour I felt like I was cycling confidently and safely on a mixture if roads and routes, my only regret is why didn't I do this sooner.

Over the years I've tried to learn to cycle several times, and I've failed every time. Today, after less than an hour with Darren, I was finally able to ride a bike and it was a great experience! He is a great instructor - very patient, helpful and with a very efficient teaching method. I would highly recommend Darren to anyone struggling to learn how to ride a bike.
