BlueStar Refrigerator
I purchased a refrigerator, range, and rangehood from BlueStar. The range and rangehood are fantastic, but I had some issues with the fridge. The fridge is a 36″ PRO Built-In Refrigerator/Freezer Left Hinge. My problem started when the refrigerator was not used often because it was in a vacation home. It started producing too much condensation around the doors, and mildew grew. I kept cleaning it, but the mildew stained the rubber seal and created some corrosion stains on the metal.
My solution was to keep the house as cool as possible to avoid the issue. However, the hinges started to rust away. Once I noticed that the screws were rusting away, I contacted the company to see what could be done.
I waited two hours on hold on the phone to speak with a rep, but once we made contact, communication was pleasant, and it was easy to send them pictures of the issue. In addition, it was easy to continue communicating via email to coordinate between the service visit and the results of the visit.
Once the need to replace the hinges was established, the company agreed to send a pair of hinges at no cost to me, and I would be responsible for the price of the service visit and the labor cost for replacing the hinges. The interaction was cordial; the rep. understood my situation and did not have to convince them of anything.
The replacement parts arrived quickly, and I appreciate that BlueStar covered the cost of the hinges outside the warranty. I expected them to do so because the appliance is too expensive to have that kind of issue. I have other refrigerators of different brands and have never experienced condensation issues in the same environment. According to BlueStar this was an environmental issue. I can also add that perhaps the size of the appliance requires more ventilation.
I love cooking in this vacation home because of the BlueStar appliances. I have experience with Fisher & Paykel products, and I can tell you that once you try a BlueStar appliance, you will never want any other brand.
I am removing one star from the review because all companies should be able to care for customers in less than two hours of waiting on the phone.
