Initially, I had two bogus overseas buyers who pretended to be interested and they asked for bank details. I sent emails asking specific questions regarding fraud and never heard back from either buyer.

what an eye opener, some fool emailed us saying he wanted to buy our boat only after 6 hrs it went on the site ,say what a sweet boat it would for his dear father,and price did not matter,however after reading the scam notices on the site i was sure he was a crook (amongst other things) and i didnt bite after a rough email i sent him he went away .I was able to sell the boat the next day to a gentlman from victoria who promptly picked it up and paid cash ,i was totally happy with transaction

Lots of photos and info so prospective buyers are in no doubt as to the condition of the boat or what goes with it. Must also have the right price and be prepared to let the advert ride for several weeks before altering price. Let the weekly feedback on hits be your guide as to when to change price.

There are a few options to sell your boat online but after month's of being on the market I finally sold the old sea dog on boat sales! The site is good - easy to use and no dramas. Too easy!

My Boat is a Wakeboarding Boat as many Sea Ray 180 bowriders are. One of the search functions on your website is "wakeboarding" It is apparently impossible to have a Sea Ray 180 come up in a "WakeBoarding" search due to the "manufacturers description " not including it....for goodness sakes, it is your website, you should have the ability to put whatever description you want on a particular make and model of boat! As the main classified for boat sales in Australia I would have expected boatsales to have had more ability to change the description.

I feel my exposure was severely compromised as my boat is a Wakeboarding Boat and was not able to be searched as such.

When I rang the help line, the people were very friendly and tried to fix it but to no avail. The only solution they could find was to list it as a Sea Ray 185 Sport, which it clearly isn't and would constitute false advertising.

For $160 I got very few responses and when the final sale occurred the buyer said he stumbled on the boat after seeing another and realising they are a Wakeboarding boat.

Only took me 30 min or so to take a heap of photos, write the ad which was just a list of inclusions on the boat and sat back and watched the responses. Thousands of views and hundreds of detailed views with three or four offers coming in only a week or so.
Well worth the exercise.

The buyer of my boat got another 10 litres of motor oil a boat cover with the alligator straps and an extra anchor for free. Boat point enjoy a near monopoly for boat sales in Australia. It is obvious that management recognise their market position and have priced advertising fees at a premium. Management need to be aware, if another player enters the market I WILL jump SHIP (pun intended) as I believe that you are being greedy.
