Disgusting and no response to complaints
My dad had died in Scarborough hospital, where I'd been several days and nights. I was exhausted and I needed somewhere comfortable to wash and sleep.
I booked the suite at the Scarborough Grand. I knew the building would be crumbly and the decor dated.
But I did not expect the room to come with other guests' rubbish including used tissues and disposable cups, clumps of hair coming from the vent in the jacuzzi bath, insect infestation in the bathroom light and carpets, a piece of plastic with nails in that I cut myself on, a broken Nespresso machine, and a host of other nasties.
My card was charged £159 at reception on check in on 7 September - presumably so you can't leave once you see the rooms.
I was exhausted and did not want a confrontation with reception so I emailed Britannia expecting it to sort things out. I've followed up several times but never had any response.
Crumbly and dated is one thing -- unhygienic, dirty and infested is quite something else
Sachas Hoteel Manc-Terrible Call 0161 228 1234 they Lie Other Phone Number is Fake
Amanda Harrison Deputy Housekeeper stole my phone and won't give it back. The actual hotel number is 0161 228 1234, press 5 reception and it will show as Jennys Restaurant. They do this as they have so many complaints. Awful company if your disabled as they don't care at all.
The Scarisbrick V the Munsters
The Scarisbrick hotel in Southport is like something out of the Munsters, discusting filthy rooms, shocking furniture and unsafe electrics.
3 course dinner of utter rubbish, coffee only available for breakfast, good job, it was horrible and watered down orange juice.
Stay at Airport Inn Manchester
Stayed at Airport Inn Manchester last night and whilst food and drink plus staff were good, I had the worst nights sleep I've ever had in any of the 100s of hotels around the world I have ever stayed in. An idiotic couple with their son decided to hold a heated conversation outside our room from 2 o'clock until 5 o'clock, keeping my wife and I awake all this time. The night staff did nothing to move them. Also the cleanliness of the bathroom could have been better. Will make sure I get a different room if indeed we ever return. Again reception staff during the day and bar staff were lovely.
Basingstoke Hotel
Booked 2 nights at Basingstoke Hotel. Requested and was promised disabled room with walk in shower. Standard room allocated, manager (Polly) did her best but could only supply standard room for 1 night but did upgrade to suite with shower for second night however shower had 2 steps to access very difficult. There were only 2 disabled parking spaces and despite knowing of disability allocated room was at far end of hotel. Clearly Brittania have no regard for disabled- the staff did their best with what was available. Generally hotel clean and tidy but pre-packed milk in room was out of date & door key not codes so had to go all way back to reception!
Miss Trunchbull is real at The Savoy Hotel
From the moment we got inside the Savoy Hotel Blackpool I was disrespected by what I would call behind the reception desk "Miss Trunchbull" she tried to blame me for the fact a mistake occurred online where I booked a Executive 3 Bedroom family room . But she insisted we had paid for a twin room , I said and where is my Grandson supposed to sleep . She then replied in a put you up bed .. really . I said fetch the Manager . The manager was very respectful and understood the mistake and proceeded to give us a larger 5 bedroom room with sea view .
I am grateful for what the manager did but the character behind the reception desk left me with a bad taste in my mouth and will not be using that Hotel again .
Royal Court Hotel Coventry
Royal Court Hotel Coventry
There was nothing right with this hotel in any way shape or form:
- No internet access.
- Room door wouldn’t lock, a stranger walked into room when I was in bed.
- No shower in my room
- No mirror in my room to get ready.
- Room very tired, mould on the walls
Restaurant food was very limited, Dinner was awful - frozen veg overdone and was just like mush & dessert was still frozen when given.
- Staff were rude when complained about food & one colleague was told by a waitress it wasn’t her problem.
- no heating in the room.
- the radiator valves were broken.
- the window latch was broken and didn’t pull closed so there was a gap where cold air was getting in, so the room was freezing.
- Black stuff came out of the tap and there was air in the pipework so when the tap was turned on, the water spluttered out. I didn’t shower there or brush my teeth with the tap water as I was genuinely worried about legionella.
- Fire alarm went off & then in room flashed for about half an hour after going off and the hotel did not communicate with anyone about what to do and there were lots of confused people walking around the hotel at 8.30pm!!
- Hotel looks very tired inside.
- wallpaper coming off the walls.
- holes in the walls and ceilings.
- black mould on the windowsill etc
- lift was pretty scary as it was very wobbly and dirty.
Overall DISGUSTING and this hotel shouldn’t be advertised never mind be allowed to stay in
Not luxury that's for sure
The Royal Bath hotel Bournemouth.
Not luxury that's for sure. Very outdated hotel in need of a massive overhaul..having paid £133 for 1 night's stay i was shocked that I would have to pay £7 per day for internet, this should be free like most hotels. The room was outdated, ripped wallpaper, marks on the walls. Windows could not be secured and were full of condensation. Bathroom floor got soaked as no bath mats provided so had to use my towels to mop up the floor. Sharp glass edges around the shower cubicle and no shower curtains.
Bar prices were incredibly overpriced. How can you charge £2.50 for a splash of coke?. I was charged different prices for the same drinks, one bar was £15.00 the next was £13.00 and this went on all night. Absolute con. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
Appalling
We travel via Caledonian coaches to Perth then have to change coach to continue our journey to the Coylumbridge hotel just up the road from Aviemore in Scotland. We get to check in with one of the staff whom was standing with a bunch of tickets in hand, and asking each customer what their names were. So he flicks through the tkts and he gets to us and we give him the lead name and he says he has not got the swipe card key for our room and then what seems to be a favourite quote of all the staff at this dump "Just wait over there for 2 secs!!!!!!" He carry's on with the rest of the cue which is by now very long and out of the door!! more people join us in the "Give me 2 secs cue"!! So they decide that this fella can't do the job and we are asked to approach the check in desk, the woman asks our name and finds it in the tkts the other guy couldn't find us in!!! Half an hour had past by this time, we walked to room 15 but on inserting the key card it wouldn't open the door, we tried this umpteen times, but had to walk all the way back to reception to ask why the card was not working, the check in woman apparently reprogrammed the card but it still did not open the door, went back to reception then duty manageress came down and still it would not open!!! I was fuming by this time, I had read a lot of really bad reviews the day before we went and thought to myself , surely it can't be that bad! (HOW MISTAKEN WERE WE) As this dump was kid & dog!!! friendly!! When the evening came around, the bar was full dogs which were all barking at each other, I actually saw a young woman with a family letting the family pooch drink some alcohol from her glass!!!! and licking ice from another glass!!! There was a singer trying to sing above the cacophony of kids who were running around screaming and shouting and throwing things around what was supposed to be the relaxation area for the adults to listen to this man and his guitar trying to make himself heard!!! The rooms had dust hanging from the ceiling I found a bug in my bed one afternoon when we got back from a trip!! Showed the manageress and all she did was change the sheets!! I had "FUMIGATION" IN MIND to be honest, the whole hotel stank of wet dog, they had pitifully tried to mask this smell by putting the odd plug in smelly thingamabob dotted around the corridors!! These did nothing to staunch the smell of wet pooches, there must have been at least 50 dogs in that hotel when we were there. All I can say is steer well clear of the COYLUMBRIDGE HOTEL if you go with Caledonian Travel to Scotland. I could go on and on about this disgusting dirty excuse for a hotel but I do not have the time to. The housekeeping is a joke!!!!
I would give it zero stars if I possibly could.
Just this second arrived and I have…
Just this second arrived and I have hairs in my bath a rusty chip in the bath that I cut my toe on , the room was disgusting , the light outside the bathroom was hanging off the ceiling with electrics showing , there was no were to plug the kettle in so had to be used on the floor also another huge hazard , this room
should not have been available for bookings it would fail an inspection and an EICR it has no air con which should of been a must with no windows , they al so had Xmas songs playing 😂
Absolutely awful and a health hazard I will be reporting this hotel
I have pictures also
Dreadful Rooms
Brittania Coventry Hill Hotel.
Booked for two nights as we were on a course in Coventry. On arrival the hotel and surroundings in dire need of some TLC. Told we could park anywhere on the wasteland outside. Security at a table near reception doesn't build you with confidence. Lift to our floor ,the floor level button did not work so had to go one floor out and use stairs. First room we were given smelt of cigarette smoke. We asked if another room was available. The next room just down the corridor didn't have the smoke smell but the mattress was shocking, every time you moved a spring popped. One leg was insecure on the dressing table. No fitting plugs in the bathroom. They should have been the pop up style but were replaced with rubber ones which didn't fit. Soap dispenser in bathroom was broken. Toilet door had a big hole hit into it on the room side. Shower water was tepid. Extractor fan did not work on entry into bathroom and also needed cleaning. Cover over light fitting in bathroom looks like it hasn't been taken off and cleaned in years.
Definitely will not be using Brittania again and do not recommend using them after this experience. If you can get a room at a Travelodge or Premier Inn at the same price I'd recommend them over this hotel.
I have used the hotels in Aviemore and…
I have used the hotels in Aviemore and Peterhead quite a few times now with my last visit to Aviemore on 09/03/23.
These hotels are great value for money, the rooms are very clean, the staff very friendly and ease of booking makes these hotels a first choice for me when staying in these areas
Grand Hotel Llandudno
Grand Hotel Llandudno. Lovely staff, hotel in need of major refurbishment. We stayed for New Years Eve and a few extra days. The rooms were clean but the french windows would not close properly but the hotel was warm. The entertainment was good (not great) and we all (11 of us) had a great time. The food was buffet style a bit limited but all the staff did a great job and were very friendly. Only marked down because of state of hotel externally and internally looking a bit tired (would have given 3.5 stars)with very creaky floors and also no alcohol free lager.
Comfortable stay
My stay at Brittania Manchester was nice and comfortable. The great victorian architecture provided a luxurious feel.
Terrible stay
Stayed at cavendish hotel at Eastbourne. This hotel is part of the Britannia group. Not a good experience. On booking the hotel we had requested a disabled car parking space. On arriving at reception we were told that they had reserved the disabled parking spot for us ( by putting a cone in front of the spot). However someone had kicked the cone out of the way and parked in that spot. Apparently there was nothing they could do to help. Once we managed to park ( long way from Hotel) and had checked in, we found that the lifts were not working . There was a service lift but as you would expect was tiny so there were long delays in getting to our room. Later that evening we wanted a pot of tea in our room and asked at reception to have room service. We were told the hotel doesn't do room service. We were told instead to go to the bar. When we asked the bar person for a pot of tea he said we could only have a cups of tea as they don’t offer pots of tea. When we asked why that was not possible the bar person just shrugged his shoulders. Why does a hotel of this size not offer pots of tea to residents ? On our inbound travel to Eastbourne we stopped
off at a small coffee shop on the way and had no issues getting a pot of tea. Needless to say we took our custom elsewhere. If you want shoddy service stay here.
Is it acceptable that your bosworth…
Is it acceptable that your bosworth hall receptionist gives my room key to a stranger because he wants to use the snooker table so swaps my key with his and now he's walking around the hotel with my key. Breach of security. Yo say I was shocked is an understatement. Never booking a hotel of yours again
Just back from the Brittania Bolton.
Just back from the Brittania Bolton.
The front of the building could do with a facelift but the interior was excellent.
Staff were excellent.
Food was excellent.
Value was excellent.
Manchester
Manchester - Parklife festival
Guests like my teenage son were treat with no respect, these youngsters who are brilliant human beings were treat like cattle .. just because the hotel CAN
Avoid. Avoid avoid at all costs .. disgusting behaviour from staff and they were not bothered !!
Me and 3 other friends had booked your…
Me and 3 other friends had booked your hotel for 1 night. We had booked two rooms and the rooms were confirmed on the booking (money was not taken as payment is done on arrival). We arrived at 12:30 in the morning and as we pull up in the taxi there is police outside the hotel, there is a woman running around with blood gushing out of her head, and people are being arrested etc. just outside the main entrance.
We aren’t too impressed, but we go inside, and we speak to the receptionist. The receptionist tells me to wait 15-20 minutes as he is just working on something else, and he will get to us. At this time there are 4 other people waiting in the lobby to get checked in. 25 minutes go past and he still hasn’t checked in any of the other guests or us, and at this point its around 1 am and we are getting impatient as we have just travelled from far, we have been standing for the whole time in the reception as the seats are stained and disgusting to look at.
I go up the receptionist and I ask him what the hold up is and if he can check us in. He tells me once I ask him that the hotel is fully booked and there are no available rooms. I tell him I have a confirmed booking and that it is not possible. He tells me not to get angry, but I am completely calm and speaking to him very politely. It is not my job to get you a room, yet I am still trying to get you a solution by calling other hotels. I ask him who he is calling as I haven’t seen him speak on the phone once since I have arrived. He says he is looking for the number for holiday inn, I give him the number and he says ‘wow it’s good that you are faster than me’ – I ignore him and ask him to make the call, he calls them, and they say that they are full, as this is a Saturday night around quarter past 1.
I tell them this is unacceptable and that he must give me a solution. At this point there is around 10 people trying to get checked in, and nobody is being told anything and nobody is getting a room. Amongst the guests are disabled people and senior citizens. I ask the other guests if the receptionist has told them anything or given a status on the situation and they all say no.
I ask the receptionist to find a solution and he starts yelling at me, then he says ‘that’s it I have had enough’ he throws his keys and picks his bag up and leaves the premises with all these guests inside.
At 2:30 am a housekeeper comes to the reception and asks what is going on, so I explain the whole situation to him, and he says but there are rooms available, and he then checks us into our 2 rooms.
So for the past 2,5 hours we were standing there purely because the receptionist was an idiot who didn’t know how to do his job, and nobody else was there to solve it but a housekeeper.
IT DOESN’T END HERE
We go to our rooms, absolutely shattered.
As we enter, we can see that the room has definitely not been vacuum, there are 2 spiders on the wall, the bunkbed looks like it housed an orgy, and if you took an Infrared light to the bathroom, I am certain that it was a petri dish. The room was all in all unacceptable, but at 3am the last thing we were going to was to go and spend even more time finding a better solution, and to be honest there was no chance any other room was going to be any better.
We sleep terribly on spring mattresses.
Next morning, I go to the reception and explain everything that we went through, and the manager lady is so rude, and very unapologetic, she keeps saying ‘I’m not interested, send an email’. I have never experienced anything like it in my life. By far the worst hotel I have been to, I have been to 43 countries and 4 times as many hotels. Wow. Speechless.
STAY AWAY!
Genuinely appalling.
I was there in business in the Nottingham hotel.
Customer service from Amy was genuinely appalling.
Shouting and swearing from her was considered normal.
She seemed to think customers were an inconvenience and was unhelpful and obstructive at every opportunity.
The other staff were immensely helpful.
