I want my money back. I decided to escalate my case.
The crue drilled next to my cabin for hours, when we suppose to sleep.
When I emailed complain to customer support attaching video of crue members disturbing us - they wrote back that the noise at sea is inevitable.
I think customers need to protect their rights against big giants like #brittanyferries
This company is a monopolist on the route between Ireland 🇮🇪 and Spain
But not taking any responsibility in this issue they show us that they care less if #customersatisfaction in the place.
Shame on them
If I don't get my money back I'm initiating charge back via my bank. I have all video prove and ping-pong correspondence. I am filing charback 355 euro on my credit card as service delivered not as discribed.
People - do that every time when companies sell you bad service or product. Defense your rights and money.

Flexi ticket - on their own website they have a flexi ticket as being cancellable with 50% refund. Now I am contacting the authorities to have them investigated for shady business practices

It is incomprehensible that Brittany Ferries still transports young calves over long distances. Animals of this age are vulnerable and deserve protection, not exhausting journeys. Take responsibility and put an end to this, Brittany Ferries!

This sack of a shit of a company live exports trucks full of unweaned calves from Rosslare to Cherbourg where they are exposed to starvation, disease and unimaginable cruelty
Another horrific trip with Brittany…
Another horrific trip with Brittany Ferries. They cancelled the boat trip between Bilbao and Rosslare - again. This time it was due to bad weather. Fair enough. But I had just driven down to Granada to collect a traumatised rescue dog. I was driving back when informed. We tried to book the next boat from Bilbao, but were not able to get a place in the whole of December as they said there was no pet accomodation for my new dog. They would not make any arrangements to assist in an extremely difficult situation. The first agent we spoke to appeared to be enjoying my stress.
They wanted me to drive to Cherbourg to catch another ferry to Ireland - but who was to say they wouldn't cancel that one too?
I am the only driver, nearing 70, with my daughter and dog.
So, we drove to St Malo to catch the ferry to the UK, to then catch a ferry to Ireland.
This is not my first experience with them. When the Connemara was in service they contacted me shortly before I arrived in Bilbao to say the boat had engine trouble and the boat was cancelled. I drove to Cherbourg and boarded the ......Connemara, with a miraculously fixed engine.
Anyway, having been a regular customer since the route opened, I will now never again travel with Brittany Ferries. Their totally dismissive customer service is appalling. I will stick to Irish Ferries.
Great company, great agent!
We have just dealt with a Brittany ferries agent called Sam, and if it were possible to give 110% for customer service, patience and kindness we would. We had a problem with our booking, totally self inflicted I must add, and he dealt with it in such an effective manner that it meant we start our journey in a stress free mode.
Policies not Services
Be careful of unexplained booking policies. Their “book Standard get Flexi” means Book Flexi because it’s the same price as Standard. If you book Standard you do not get upgraded to Flexi as the ad leads you to believe. Then coming to their cancellation policy: I had to cancel and expected a 25% refund but that comes as a voucher! This is not mentioned until the small print! These are dubious and underhanded marketing gimmicks. When you cancel, the website says they are retaining the entire booking fee and I had to phone to get the refund I was lead to believe I was entitled to, which then became a voucher. Why do big companies hide behind dodgy policies and procedures? I think the answer lies in the TrustPilot review score. Brittany have policies and procedures NOT service standards or ethical operating practices.

We received a cancellation message of our trip Ireland-Spain on Dec. 6 - 36 hours before departure due to bad weather. That means you cannot reschedule due to limited pet-friendly cabins (next available trip would be at the end of January/February) so you are completely stranded. #brittanyferries has no contingency plan, no alternative. So please be aware if you are a pet owner that your plans can be totally disrupted not by weather, but by the inability of company leadership to creatively accommodate pet owners, many of whom, like us, have been loyal customers. So please when you book, especially in winter time, that everything can change and have your own plan B since #brittanyferries has none.
If your ferry is cancelled it will be almost impossible to have availability within weeks or even months, so abandon your travel plans or your pet…
#brittanyferries, please figure out contingency plans, such as enabling regular cabins for pet use under extraordinary circumstances like this one, or simply rescheduling or delaying the departure until weather conditions become more favourable (Tuesday Dec. 10th?) and PLEASE, at least, advertise and be clear that this is something that can happen and that booking with you carries the possibility of screwing those wonderful Christmas plans. WISE UP #brittanyferries!
Very unhappy.
Very unhappy with Brittany Ferries this year. The boat itself from Rosslare to Bilbao is lovely and the food is passable. But when something goes wrong their customer service is a nightmare. My ferry time was changed with no notification. So we missed the ferry. Wife had to fly home for a surgical appointment as I waited four days for the next ferry with the car. €800 down. Local attitude “call customer service. I can only change your flex ticket” No response from customer service or reservation by email (two weeks ago) and phone is unanswered. Appalling attitude to a regular customer.
Inefficient staff and very bad communication…
Arrived for checking from Rosslare to Bilbao at 10 pm for departure at midnight. Waited for 3 hours 40 min outdoors in the cold. Not only the ferry boarding was seriously delayed, but they were still unloading containers, trucks and cars after midnight. No communication from staff or by email saying there was a delay, no explanation, nothing...and I have never seen staff so inefficient. They certainly had the time to gather for cigarettes, chats but not the time for the passengers who were waiting in the cold. Last time we are using that route!!
No longer good value for money
I am a solo traveller and want to travel to UK to August 2025. I was advised to book early for the best deals and choice of accommodation. Despite on year in advance the only option offered was two berth club cabin at £400 or, four berth inside cabin. This of course also applied for the return journey.
Even going for the relatively cheapest option, the cost was in excess of £1300. I cannot believe that in spite of booking early, this is a good deal!! Sorry BF your monopoly on this route and your extraordinary pricing model leaves a lot to be desired and is not representative of good value for money.
BEWARE! Price gougers!
I made a booking and unfortunately, within hours of their "cool off" period passing I tried to cancel it but they would not budge one bit even though the sailing was months away. Their customer care team were so unhelpful and just kept repeating to me that I should have paid more for the flexible booking. Even after finding somebody who would take the booking off me, they wouldn't allow me to do that either.
Terrible Customer Service (Land)
This relates to the reservations and land customer service and not onboard.
My second booking with Brittany Ferries and the second very inconvenient rescheduling.
I booked an early bird fare, five months in advance, Rosslare to Cherbourg to arrive in daylight as I have a long onward car drive. When they rescheduled, the offer was a refund or another date if the new times did not suit. I found that they have a sailing from Cork the next day, which suited better, which actually cost €13 less, so I asked reservations to change it for me. They agreed, but, but despite the lower fare, they refused to refund me the €13 difference. If I cancelled the booking, I could get a full refund and book the Cork leg myself, saving the €13! It took 4 days before reservations cancelled the Rosslare leg, by which time, the Cork fare had increased by €40. After several emails and telephone calls, they eventually gave me the sailing at the original fare, but not the €13 refund. I asked for a free gesture such as some meal vouchers or a cabin upgrade to make up for the inconvenience and extra petrol expense and this was flatly refused.
The website says the Salamanca ships offers a “cooked ENGLISH breakfast”, on a France-Ireland sailing, however as the ship arrives at 6AM, the restaurant is not open!
Now, two weeks before travelling, I discovered the price of the outbound sailing and cabin have dropped by €71. I wrote to Brittany's customer services for Ireland-France, based in England! They have a 28 WORKING DAY response time, presumably due to a massive amount of complaints. After a long wait, I received a partial response and a flat refusal of any refund,or gesture. The attitude and lack of any willingness to help or retain customer goodwill from senior agent Charlotte Murray was despicable. She is a disgrace to her profession. She hid behind the company’s terms and conditions and simply did not care about the customer. While Brittany Ferries prices are good, I am very reluctant to trust them again as their land based customer service is terrible. Perhaps the ships and crew will be better.
Rosslare to Bilbao Salamanca
This review is about my travel experience on the Salamanca from Rosslare to Bilbao. Two return journeys within six months. Good points: clean, staff are very good, boarding and disembarking are good. WiFi is €25 euro for entire journey (other options are available). Overall the ship is excellent but some things need work.
Bad points, car horns on deck blaring for hours, Food in the tapaas restaurant is always cold because the queues are long and lack of staff means it can take a long time to get to the till. They show a menu at breakfast for vegetarian bacon, this did not exist on three journeys, on on journey I got a dried up peice of something but wouldn't eat it. Main restaurant has a very limited menu and again vegetarian options appear to have been designed to make life easy for the chef rather than enjoyable for the customer. Queue to the bar is a bit convoluted at busy times, no one knows where the queue starts so can cause frustration when you are left standing for a long time. If they could improve the food and queue situation I would give 5 stars.

Brittany Ferries need to address their Pet Travel/ Foot passenger policy urgently
To be as brief as possible- I would love to get some explanation why Brittany Ferries don’t allow Foot Passengers travelling with a pet on their Ireland - Spain crossings. Can’t fathom it!!! Especially since they promote the work they did back in 2016 pouring €17mill to cut fuel emissions from its flagship Pont Aven. Passengers who do not own cars but find themselves having to use some form of transport to get from A - B are at a loss. Their only way around it is to travel with Brittany Ferries competitor Stena Line (who welcome Foot passengers with pets) to France & then travel down into Spain. It just doesn’t make any sense at all. ☹️
Trust who you travel with
Fair play to Brittany Ferries. I had something I wasn't happy about and they listened, and responded and have a happy customer again. In my negative review I mentioned you need to trust who you travel with. Having seen the lifecycle of the issue, I'd feel very confident that they will resolve a problem fairly.
