Is there anything more exciting for kids than the prospect of seeing inside a chocolate factory? How disappointing then that you don’t get to see any of it. What you get instead is queuing for a couple of mediocre theme-park rides with a loose chocolate theme; and a dated, uninformative exhibition. The real shame is that Cadbury‘s has such an incredible story to tell. The best bit is the free chocolate, but you can get a lot more of it for your entrance fee with a trip to the supermarket.

Our family day out was an exercise in queuing. Booked for a 12 noon entry, it must have been 12.30 before we were actually allowed inside. The first few rooms are about the origins of chocolate and have a few touch screens for kids to play with. Next you wait to watch short videos (2-5min) that tell you the story of the Cadbury family and how chocolate is made - these feature budget actors and judging by the factory machines were at least a few decades old.

You can then queue to watch how chocolate was made in the past, which amounts to watching a disinterested member of staff pour some melted chocolate into an ice cube tray, and fetch some previously set chocolate from the fridge. Another queue leads to you being given 50ish ml of melted chocolate topped with some buttons.

Then it's an hour wait for a 5 min ride where you sit in a car with guns ('Cadbury collectors') that you aim at various ingredients needed to make chocolate (basically a kids version of a haunted house ride at your local fair). There were signs telling us to inform a member of staff if we wanted to skip the ride, but no one was around. So we waited with our toddler in the featureless corridors (there's very little to entertain you as you wait)

Three hours in and we visited the cafe. A 12 inch pizza, tea, coffee, and orange juice set us back 28 pounds. Only 9 inches of the margarita pizza had cheese on it, and the coffee may as well have been a cup of hot water. Judging by the full plates on nearby tables as people left, the other food options were no better.

Outside we were greeted with more queues to do anything, including kids lining up to get on the playgrounds. We gave up and went home.

The highlight of the day was the smell of chocolate in the car park as we arrived. It promised so much. Delivered so very little. At least it was only a 50min drive from us. One family we met in the endless queues had travelled 3 hours from London for this dated 'experience'.

Awful - don’t waste your money! There is no ‘tour’ you just spend 2 hours queuing to look at nothing with any relevance. They just like to tell you repeatedly how well cadburys treat their staff.. weird. We came out with 1 x creme egg and 1 x small cadbury caramel bar each. This is honestly a shocking day out for the price!

We visited in October 2023 and had a lovely time. Went again today and was horribly disappointed. The train ride was short and un interesting. Previously there were lovely displays which took quite a bit longer to look at and enjoy. What happened to thd pictorial history thst was previously on display. It was very interesting. My granddaughter was looking forward to writing her name in chocolate, that facility was sadly not available.
All in all an expensive disappointment which won't be repeated.

Unduly strict with timing and disappointing overall

So disappointing, everywhere looked tired and shabby. Timed entry just about worked although the main entrance area was chaotic and disorganised. Far too busy, entry numbers need to be far less.
The cafe was so expensive, I mean, £3.75 for one doughnut!
The tour itself was poor, the information shows were of poor quality and the sound was inadequate.
The queue for the ride, such as it is, was 35 minutes and really was not worth the wait. I can’t comment on the 4D show, we weren’t prepared to queue for another 40 minutes.
The outside playground was good but there are similar playgrounds all over the country that are free.
I can’t recommend this is a day out at all, it needs a huge injection of cash to bring it into the 21st century.

I was very disappointed, I paid £2 for cadburys bag for free sample I only got the 6 chocolates that they put in when they gave me the bag and then it was mostly queueing and not much watching chocolate being made, not worth 4 hour journey there and back

Was looking forward to this trip, so many people we know who have been, said it’s really good. However, it’s mediocre at best. It was busy, unorganised and I’m guessing since taken over by the huge firm Mondalez, care for its customers has declined and it is now rather a ‘let’s get a huge number of punters through our door and offer them less, so we can boost our profits’. Nothing looks British about this company apart from the old buildings of the firm plus the very British looking Bournville village. The cafe was overpriced, place looked grubby and we really didn’t see anything on how the chocolate was made apart from a limited demonstration. We got 3 bars of chocolate each which was nice, the liquid chocolate with some sprinkles was pretty pathetic. A tick off the list at least but won’t return and certainly wouldn’t recommend it

we drove 2 hours and paid £21 we arrived at 1.30 and left at 2.10 so let me tell you about our trip my daughter 21 has never been she likes to post our days on social media but this day was different only one post of a woman making chocolates for 30 seconds this is not a day out the best thing to do is go and visit the shop and café you don't have to pay for those have photos in the foyer and go home i can tell you not to waist your money but i know your going to go anyway just so you can say you have been. then you will write a post on here.

My suspicions were aroused when prices (£17.50 for adults) quoted on the website were ex-VAT.....and that then came up to £21 at checkout. At that price we were expecting a little more insight onto the contemporary making of chocolate, but this was nothing more than a second-rate adventure for very young children.

Whilst it is worth visiting once, our second visit was disappointing. They are updating a section meaning that the gorilla advert attraction cannot be seen amongst others. Also the Bourneville attraction (museum out the back) was closed off due to work being done. No compensation for this. They are restricting the 4D experience to one visit too. We arrived at 9 and left at 10.30, which included a 20min play on the playground. Nearly £80 for a family of 5 (children 13,12,10) for 1 1/2hrs was expensive!

Queuing system not great, 10 minute slots but 15 minute queues. Took our 5 year old granddaughter, the videos and scenes of jungles of no interest. Staff seemed as disinterest as most of the visitors. I thought the attraction wanted to get as many people in and get as much money from them as possible.

Not going to lie. Worst day trip we’ve ever been on. It’s just one room after another watching boring clips then a few fake old fashioned shops. Write your name in chocolate-boring! The worst bit was the ridiculous ride. So slow. Dancing bean’s hanging out the knickers. Not given much chocolate either and the shops expensive. Crap

How is this actually an attraction?

I got the tickets for a tenner during the Black Friday sale, and it STILL was nowhere near worth it.

There’s a load of writing about how chocolate is made, you get to write your name on a marble slab with some reconstituted chocolate then queue for a toddler ride for 30minutes.

It’s really really bad, it’s dirty, especially the cafe. No real direction in the corridors and near the end you can buy a photo for £18 to remember how awful the day was - spend money elsewhere!

I never been to Cadbury’s World before and I really Enjoyed and the Experience and very Interested but All the staff are very Helpful but I was there with my house for the First time but I just loved it but very big place and a big building but I love the place and I really like your Experience and Tours but they are much Fun and Amazing and Amazing people and I loved Sharing my Experience with you and feed back and my input but you all lovely but I had Such Amazing time When I Went and I felt So Excited and I could not wait to go but a very good Venue and I am Julia Donovan and I am from Buckinghamshire

The place is incredibly outdated, you basically just shuffle around corridors waiting for the next room, reading a small bit of information while you queue.

It's probably ok for small kids.

You can play with melted chocolate that everyone else has touched. And then sample some chocolate out of a cup. You can take a photo on a virtual chocolate bar (the print out is just as much as entry). And then you can buy chocolate in the gift shop which has the illusion of being cheap but isn't really.

You don't see chocolate being made. You can't see the actual factory.

Rude staff and further to that unfortunately even ruder management. They claimed to do an early open for children with complex needs, lifts were specifically for disabled persons/ complex needs children who were unable to walk or needed wheelchairs however the wait for the lift was terrible, staff who were vaping in the lift and even one staff member said ‘sorry I’m running late, I’ll send the lift back down. Missed most of the tour through waiting for the lift. When I mentioned it to a manager she was completely inconsiderate and rude, no apologies for the staffs ignorance. Unfortunately I was not the only parent to have this response. The quality of the experience was terrible, staff are rude, no chocolate to taste or even try, no visibility of the factory, it was a complete waste of money. I feel bad for all the families who have travelled a fair distance to get here, it’s not a friendly place, no value for money and unfortunately not friendly for children with complex needs. Spoke to a manager about my experience who emailed me back with the attitude of ‘tough’. Very very disappointing

Enjoyed the overall experience. Had the afternoon tea, which was a little expensive and I personally would have liked more sandwiches. The staff in the cafe area clearly don’t want to be there and could do with a course on customer service. The rest of the visit was very enjoyable.

Waste of money and time. Money grabbing exercise. over--crowded, noisy, rushed, bad experience. No fun for the kids and didn't even experience the "train" as it was running 40 minutes late!!!

Took my 2 kids to Cadbury World the experience was so so. As for free stuff had expectations of getting lots of stuff and coming away sick of chocolate…..not the case wouldn’t go back again, too expensive for what you get.
