am extremely disappointed and frankly shocked by the way Cambrian Credit Union handled my situation. Credit unions are supposed to exist to help ordinary people avoid the trap of high-interest lenders, yet when I genuinely needed support the most, I was simply refused a loan with no meaningful attempt to help, guide, or offer any alternative solution.

What makes this worse is that organisations like Cambrian promote themselves as community-focused and supportive of their members. In reality, when it came to a moment where that support actually mattered, it simply was not there. The refusal left me in a very difficult position and effectively pushed me toward considering high-interest lenders – the exact situation credit unions claim they exist to prevent.

It felt like there was no real understanding of individual circumstances and no effort to show the kind of compassion or flexibility you would expect from a community financial organisation. If decisions are made purely by rigid criteria without any genuine consideration of members’ situations, then the purpose of a credit union becomes questionable.

I would strongly encourage Cambrian Credit Union to reflect on how these decisions affect real people. Turning members away when they are vulnerable does not reflect the values that credit unions claim to stand for.

Based on my experience, I cannot say I felt supported as a member, and it has seriously damaged my confidence in the organisation.

Iv had a loan to help me at Christmas time every year from credit union. I've never had a problem applying. Now we can apply through the app its made even more easy to do. I'd definitely recommend credit union, I don't know what I'd do without them.

I have no problem with using Cambrian savings and loans it's so easy. They are brilliant on the phone if you have any questions or concerns and the website is really easy to use as well. They are my go to if I need any loans or advice on any money related questions

I found the whole process applying for a loan very straightforward and very efficient. The staff I spoke with both via phone and email were polite, friendly and very helpful. A lovely company to deal with.
