Close your account ASAP

I have been making monthly if not bi-weekly payments, had my credit go up 40 points since March (it's mid July), and I have been paying down my other cards as well. My initial credit limit was $2,500 and find out today checking out at the dentist that they dropped my credit limit to $250! So now I have 90% of my availabile credit utilized. From someone who has been working their (i'll say) butt off to improve their credit, care credit just screwed me. When I spoke to a supervisor regarding this situation I was informed they sent the letter yesterday regarding the credit limit change which was the day they changed the limit. Overall bad business, from the communication to the way they hurt my credit from closing my account (with no communication) previously for paying off the card and not using it for 3 months to now dropping my overall credit limit by 90% and not caring about the affect on my credit score because of that move. I will be paying my balance due and closing the account. The buisness I work for also uses care credit. As an emergency veterinary technician I will promote them to save a fur babies life, but tell the owners to close the account asap because this is not a company worth working with long term.

Don't do it

Don't do it. You're better off getting a regular cc with no interest for whatever time. I did a balance transfer of 100% of what I owed and they're telling me I still owe for interest on top of interest that I ALREADY paid. Didn't care, wouldn't do anything about it. I've had this issue with another card once before and they took care of the issue...making their name quite ironic

THEY closed my account due to a mistake on their end

I’ve had this card for a few years. It was honestly really great for me as a single mom. I’ve always done a great job paying promotions off in time and making payments early. This past November I noticed that a payment of $1000.03 came out of my bank account. When I called them to get it cleared up they said that they could refund me but the check would take 2-3 weeks to get to me. During this time, my bank had placed a “do not pay” while we tried to figure out why the money was taken. My minimum due for that month was $37 and I most likely paid $100, but no way $1000.03! Cut to the next month and I assume I make a payment but I’m notified that it was kicked back. I paid early, so I catch this before the due date. I call them and pay with a different card. Next month, the same thing happens. During Christmas break, I get a letter in the mail stating that my account was closed because of kicked back payments. Apparently, if you have two within a calendar year then the account is automatically closed. I spent FOREVER trying to deal with customer service to find out why my account was closed due to an error that originally started on their end. I was told I could challenge it by getting my bank to provide documentation that showed that there was a “do not pay” placed on their end that was never lifted in time and that may show that it was never my mistake. It should take 90 days. It took 6 months and was still denied. Since January, I’ve had to pay not only for my medication monthly out of pocket, but I’ve had to pay at least $600 a month to avoid interest rates and pay off promotions. That has been at least $1200 monthly on medical alone. Closing this account also butchered my credit. It was one of my oldest credit lines. When I asked them “what do I do now?” They replied with “you can always reapply.” I will NOT be and can’t wait to be done paying this card off next month so I can completely cut ties with them.
Note: there’s even a questionable $200 charge on the account AFTER the account was closed. When I tried to get clarification on this they claimed it was some challenge credit (that I never made) and they gave me money and now I need to pay them? It makes no sense but I’m so over them that I just want to pay it and be done forever.

This used to be a great company

This used to be a great company. They weren’t money grubbing when I joined them years ago. Now? The customer service is hard to understand, not to mention my last call with them the guy was condescending and clearly has no idea what the customer experience is within their app. I do not understand why ALL my promo purchases AND standard purchases (non promos) aren’t all listed in the same place as they’ve always been so that I can keep track of what needs paid first and when. This random time my purchase is not listed there. Customer service kept telling me it’s on my statement and that’s where I need to look. Yes, but it’s not in the app where all my other purchases are, so apparently I’ve been accruing interest and didn’t know because it’s not listed with a “until paid off” label, it’s just nonexistent but still included in my total balance. This is a change from what I’m used to and what my other charges show so yes, I am confused.
Not only that, but now you have to call to ask them to apply your payments to non promo charges first (otherwise they apply them to the charges you have six months to pay off) this is so you end up owing interest. They used to apply my payments to non promo charges FIRST, but they act like that was never a thing and now you have to contact them each time. And you can’t do it in the app yourself.
Lastly, starting this year we don’t gain rewards points over $200 purchases. They can’t give us measley rewards to work toward a $10 credit anymore? Really?
They used to have good customer service, kind, helpful, and for the customer. Now it’s clear their customer service just wants you to shut up and accept what they tell you. They’ve taken away many of the perks of being a client, and just jerk you around trying to get what they can from you in interest, it did not used to feel this way.

They just lowered my credit limit AGAIN

They just lowered my credit limit today. AGAIN. I've been paying on my balance, which is a promotional deal and will be paying it off on time in August. Yet they continue to lower my limit whenever there is about $200 available. Each time it's a ding to my credit score. It's not just Care Credit either - Synchrony has done this to me on EVERY single card I have that they service. It's not me either - my other cards continue to raise my limits. The interest rate is extremely high, and if you have more than one promotional purchase, carefully monitor how your payment is applied. This card is NOT worth it.

My $5500 LIMIT was dropped to $1100. My payments always made before due date sometimes week or so and double/triple minimum payment. Only have $1100 currently charged and THIS is what they do to me?!!

I wish I could've chosen under 1 star!! I'm so upset right now. Trying to do everything right with payments and responsible balance... Pay before due date with double/ triple payments above minimum payment and they drop my LIMIT by$4500?!!!!! Yea....I can really see how much they CARE. It's all business and nothing personal i know. What a world we live in. This WAS a big help for my family. They apparently don't need my business THAT bad. Their loss. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE FOLKS OBVIOUSLY!!! I called them and voiced my disgust and I get... sorry ma'am have a nice day😡😡😡

I have dental implants I need to pay…

I have dental implants I need to pay for. My HSA does not have the sufficient funds in it as of now. I raised my contributions significantly but need the work done now. My dentist told me about CareCredit. Before I applied, I wanted to find out if they will take payment from my HSA card (Visa), you know pay with tax free money for the dental work. The rep. said sometimes it goes through and sometimes it doesn't. Not really the answer I was looking for like yes or no. As I asked her another question, she started talking over me and was very rude, so I got louder and put her in her place. After reading a handful of the 93% negative reviews, I am only guessing that the HSA cards never go through, I would find out after I have already made purchases on the account and am stuck with their inflated interest rates. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. Glad I did my research.

My 2-year-old puppy was poisoned by an unknown person. When we noticed she was ill. We took her to the vet. We needed $2000 to try to save her life. I had a $4000 limit on my carecredit. I quickly learned that they reduced my limit to $1000. When I asked why. After all, I never missed a payment. My credit score was over 700. My pay history was excellent. They said it was because I had high balances on 2 other cards. I said that was true when they increased my limit to $4000. My puppy died. 😭😭

They drastically dropped millions of…

They drastically dropped millions of people's credit limits with no notice or just an email. For inactivity. They say it's also for other things that they don't like on your credit score. For me apparently paying on time, making extra payments, having a good credit score was the reason mine was lowered by thousands to the point where it's absolutely useless? It would never cover a vet emergency. I was pleasantly surprised when I brought my service dog in the other week after just using this card in November for my cat. I only use this card for vet emergencies. It was one of the deciding factors to move forward with my son's service dog knowing we have this cushion. Well we no longer have that. It's awful what they're doing. Especially with lack of notice and for no real reason. I would totally understand if I did something wrong or wasn't making payments but that is not the case. This was a total shock the other day at my dog's appointment to have to pay hundreds of dollars. And now my credit card usage is like 95% or something crazy like that because they lowered it so low. And I'm still paying off the cat visit. Absolutely ridiculous. Sad. Unprofessional. Not to mention that your credit takes a hit when they do this. And if you go on Reddit a lot of people have mentioned that if their card was paid off and they hadn't had recent activity that they just closed their card totally. This is a emergency cushion for so many people. I know from a legal standpoint credit card companies can do this but I'm 40 years old and I've never had this happen before in my life. This puts us in a really hard position. It's just sad.

I am being charged a 30.00 returned…

I am being charged a 30.00 returned check fee because my account number had an extra zero in it. It cost them 0. It was not a returned check. I was paying my balance off of over 2000.00. The payment never went anywhere because of the extra zero. They called it a returned check. Thats not my definition of a returned check. Just a way for them to get an extra 30.00. Do not use them. If you carry a balance (which I did not ) their percentage rate is very high. Blast them on every site you can.

Up until recently

Up until recently, I THOUGHT??? I had a good handle on my purchases and promo balances. That is no longer the case. I've spent hours typing to live chat + direct calls to make payments and request that they be allocated to specific purchases but when I look at my account online there's a balance of over $600 more than what I think I owe. Every time I do a live chat, I get the same response. They have access to see the payment I made BUT it wasn't allocated correctly so it continues to accrue interest I guess. I've been around and around so much, repeating myself, that I'm about to go crazy. All I want to do is pay off the 2 current promo balances and be done with CC! They still see over $640 due for promos that were not paid within the deferred time frame BUT this is incorrect. I've paid every promo off in time to avoid interest except for one which I paid on 6/7/25 and yet they still show interest due on it. Original charge $1319.08. When I called 6/7/25, I was told that charge + accrued interest was $1889.80. My son had used the card for his dog and was unable to make the promo date of 4/29/25 so............interest was accrued. Dang I sure wish I'd have paid it off for him in time but regardless, I did on 6/7/25. I have 2 current promos for 2025 totaling $910.00, I will pay those off within the next couple of days and no longer have anything to do with CC.

This company lets your pets die…

This company lowered my credit like the day after the card was issued. Every time i make a payment, they lower my credit line to below the balance due! They are uncaring and defraud the public by capitalizing off the grief of We The People. I hope the CEO’s dog dies the same way my cat did…..waiting for this messed up company to give a ****! Bankrupt this corrupt company and use a visa with a better interest rate. These jackoffs charge over 30%!

Find better CSR

I called because I had a promotional purchase plan and I payed a vet bill which I tried to pay on-line but the system took my payment and paid the promotional plan in full. The customer service representative, was an ill man that said his piece and I said okay now fix the problem, he wanted to repeat and lecture me over and over again with the same thing he already said. He kept on telljng me go learn manners, as if I was calling to put up with his moods. He was a bit confused about the purpose of his job, so instead of being nice and saying I'll get this sorted for you, he was arguing with me because I refused to listen the same thing over and over again so I told him who was paying his wages and requested assistance in Spanish, then that lady was amazing, fixed the problem right away without being rude.

Absolutely horrible experience

Absolutely horrible. I used this card to get my dog spayed as well as hernial repairs. It was $1100. My limit was $2,000. I got my card paid down to $800, and my dog also needed an infected broken tooth removed so we schedule it. I go to pay after the procedure and they denied it saying insufficient funds. CareCredit dumped my credit limit to what was still owed, never notified me, and I had to use rent money to pay for her procedure because they do not take payments at the vet. They absolutely screwed me, I got late fees and many more issues thanks to this. I keep paying it off, I wanted to be able to still have the $800 in case of emergency. Well after months of me paying early, and over the minimum payment, they randomly decided to close my account altogether. I only knew because I got an alert from credit karma that one of my account was closed. They closed my account because my PayPal account was in bad standing even though this one wasn’t. (My PayPal got hacked and it was a whole ordeal, I stopped paying because they refused to fix the fraud on my account) and because they are both synchrony accounts they closed my CareCredit because of my PayPal. I can’t even log in to pay, I have to call and pay it off. I am going to because I can’t take anymore hits on my credit but I will never go with anything synchrony ever again. I can understand canceling frivolous credit cards for non-necessities, but this card is specifically for health care / pet care. And they cancel it without a care in the world even if you pay perfectly. PayPal is my only account in bad standing all the rest are perfect. This company pretends they want to help you in a time of need but they pray on you knowing you’re in an awful spot. They love to make our lives harder and it’s evil honestly. I will never do any business with synchrony and frankly this company should be shut down entirely. Thanks for ruining my credit even though I was paying you early and over my minimum. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY IT IS A SCAM!

I have been with CareCredit for several…

I have been with CareCredit for several years and have always paid on time. They just cancelled my account without notice because they mistakenly tried to pull a payment from the wrong account. When I saw that the payment didn’t go through I immediately called and made a payment over the phone. I went to access my account via the app this morning and received a message telling me to call customer service as my account was closed. When I spoke with the rep I was told that it was closed due to a returned payment. She asked if I had received a letter and I said I have not. This is bad business. The rep told me I could reapply and I stated “Why would I do that when you are conducting bad business”. I am lodging a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as well as the FTC. I am also contacting Synchrony Bank and lodging a complaint with them. I am also considering contacting an attorney and inquiring about any legal avenues that may be available. I would suggest that anyone on here or anyone who has or have had dealings with this scam company do the same. Maybe we can save others from this predatory scam company.

Customer for 8 years. Always made my payments. Paid off my account in full and they closed the account giving me a hit on my credit report. They only want your interest payments! Ironically I was about to open a high yield savings account with Synchrony. NEVER will give my business to Synchrony or Care Credit ever again.

It should ZERO star . . . At 1:20pm CST in Texas, I called to get account info. The customer rep, Patricia, was absolutely rude, unprofessional, mocked me as I asked questions and when I asked to speak to a supervisor, she said to call back. WWWOOOWWW !!!! That's the level of customer service your company is providing / paying for ??

Deceptive practices they're doing to…

Deceptive practices they're doing to customers. Ruining their credit scores, dropping limits without notice on accounts that are paid on time and doing it regularly just to make the usage percent higher which has a negative impact on users credit score. Deceptive practice to try and get user to pay off balance quicker. They do this the day before your next statement closes so you have no chance to pay down the balance because this is when they report to the credit bureaus so it shows they're doing this on purpose. I hope an attorney gets wind of this and files a class action lawsuit.
This should be illegal.
