Been on a course with Shaun, by far the best and most enjoyable course i have done .

Shaun teaches in a very relaxed style that is not death by PowerPoint, his teaching methods are extremely effective. He has a vast amount of skills and knowledge that makes his teaching style enjoyable.

Cannot reccomend him enough.

I have completed a very professional course and Shaun is very knowledgeable, accommodating, friendly and easy going. The course content was very practical and your are able to practice the skills your have learnt and he give you confidence in your abilities.

I attended the Mental Health First Aid course run by Shaun Allatt on 25th May in Pontefract, having seen it mentioned on the Pontefract community facebook page. During the morning Shaun included some videos about various conditions such as stress, anxiety and depression. To be honest I felt these were the best descriptions I have ever heard of what it is like to experience these conditions from the inside. (And I have done quite a lot of general internet/google and medical research in the past on behalf of people I have known, and received general booklets from my employment in admin for NHS and Social Services over the years, but this was much more worthwhile/helpful in my opinion).
The course was mainly aimed at a first-response approach I felt, rather than in-depth treatment of mental health, but I certainly felt it was valuable having been on this course.
I liked the fact that there wasn't much role-play as I don't like that v much, but I did participate in one role-play and I actually found it helpful confronting my fears about interacting with people in crisis in that supportive environment.

Knowledgeable & accomidating

Shawn was great at explaining all the essential first aid for work related learning elements in accessible and easy to understand ways.

Having some neurodivergent traits often means preferring a fair level of blunt and to the point information / practice. When told was more than experienced to get me to think about things differently in ways of remembering and building up confidence.

I would highly recommend his services.

The course was explained very clearly and the instructor was very friendly. Overall a very good experience and would highly recommend!

Shaun was a great teacher throught the course, very professional and has a lot of interesting examples from life experiences from his work in this field. Excellent materials and very thoughtfully presented, relaxed atmosphere in the class room for such serious and intense subjects. Would recommend the 3 day 1st Aid at work course throughly.
