We recently completed a 2-week private tour of China organized by China Discovery (Chengdu Bamboo International Travel), and it was truly an incredible experience from start to finish.

Our itinerary took us through Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Zhangjiajie, Guilin, Yangshuo, and Shanghai, and every detail was perfectly planned. Traveling as a group of five adults, we really appreciated the comfort, flexibility, and personalized attention that came with a private tour.

A special thank you to our agent, Tracy Tan, who was outstanding throughout the entire process. From the initial planning stages to the final day of our trip, she was responsive, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. She tailored the itinerary to our interests, ensured smooth transitions between cities, and was always available to answer questions or make adjustments.

One moment that truly stood out was the extraordinary support we received in Zhangjiajie. I had an issue with my credit card at a local ATM, which could have easily become a stressful situation. However, Tracy Tan and the local agent responded immediately and worked together to resolve the problem quickly and efficiently—even after we had already moved on to our next destination. Their responsiveness and commitment to helping us went far beyond expectations and gave us real peace of mind.

Another highlight was the incredible local food we experienced throughout the trip. Each destination offered something unique, and we had the chance to enjoy authentic regional cuisine that was both delicious and memorable. Along with that, the hotels in every city were excellent—comfortable, well-located, and a perfect place to relax after full days of exploring.

Highlights of the trip included:

Walking the Great Wall and exploring the rich history of Beijing
Seeing the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an
Visiting the adorable pandas in Chengdu
Experiencing the breathtaking landscapes of Zhangjiajie
Cruising along the Li River near Guilin and Yangshuo
Ending in vibrant Shanghai with its mix of tradition and modernity

All accommodations, guides, and transportation were excellent. The local guides in each city were friendly, professional, and passionate about sharing their knowledge.

What really stood out was how seamless everything felt—despite covering so many destinations, we never felt rushed or stressed. Every transfer, tour, and activity was handled with care and precision.

We highly recommend China Discovery and especially Tracy Tan to anyone planning a trip to China. This was a once-in-a-lifetime journey, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I just finished a 10 day trip with China Discovery. It was amazing from start to finish. Jack our travel adviser provided guidance on the best route beforehand and all the tour guides were awesome, welcoming, knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend time with.

It was lovely to have just the 2 of us (myself and my partner) with our own guide, in places where normally its many tourists huddled around a single guide. We learned so much about the culture and history this way.
