Mike Walden and his team dealt with a tax matter for me, and I cannot speak highly enough of the service I received. Very professional company, I had a tax investigation dragging on over 4 years. My accountant was really struggling to get it resolved. I saw a You tube video by Churchill explaining about tax investigations and how they can assist along with some interesting advice. I was assisted by Mike who used to work for HMRC. Very professional and responsive, after lots of quick communication back and forth with HMRC I got the matter resolved and a very favourable result. Definitely 5 stars

Worst "Tax Advice" ever - Facing Prosecution!

I went to Churchill Tax Advisers after hearing about Jamal Khan. He said that was an expert in tax and he boasted to me how he used to regularly get the better of the Revenue AKA HMRC.

I had a business which was just surviving and thus I went to him in the hopes that my tax would be optimised. The first warning sign was when he said I could pay "nothing in tax". These were his words not mine. I should have realised here that the tax strategy he was offering was going to lead to serious consequences. Remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true.

When he had written up the tax strategy he had given me, I noticed that it was completely different to what he had said in person. When I asked him about it, he told me not to worry and he even reprimanded me and said that since I am not a tax expert, I should listen to him.

Jamal Khan deliberately writes a different tax strategy to what has been said in person so that he can avoid any allegations of misconduct.

I foolishly went along with his tax strategy and the amount of tax I paid went down a lot. Even though he was billing me well over £20,000, I still felt that it was a win as I was paying less at the end of the day. Admittedly, Jamal's high fees took up most of the savings.

All was well until a HMRC inspector turned up at my front door and was saying that I could go to jail for tax evasion. Keep in mind, I had never got into any trouble for tax before and I had no idea what he had meant.

When I went to him so that he could help me regarding this tax investigation, he quoted me an extremely high price. I decided to go to another accountant who told me that Jamal's tax strategy was bound to get me in trouble with HMRC and that it is not a standard practice. Had I not gone along with Jamal's strategy in the first place, my business and myself would have ended up saving money!

Because he ended up writing something different on paper, I can't even show the Revenue any proof. I am currently in the process of winding up my company.

Please avoid Jamal - learn from my experience.

I recently went to Churchill Tax Advisers as I needed a customised and tailored tax plan for my business. I was introduced to Jamal Khan who was the owner and chartered accountant for the business.

Jamal Khan was initially very amicable and friendly. He came across as very knowledgeable and he gave the impression that he cared about my business and he had lots of experience with HMRC.

I used to be an accountant myself but I do not have the time or means to do accountancy. It has been over 2 decades since I have done any sort of accounting.

When I had paid Jamal Khan a considerable sum of money, I expected a tax strategy that could save my business a lot of money and keep me out of trouble with HMRC.

When I paid Jamal, he went radio silent and was not responding to emails and was always "busy" according to his secretary. I could not get through to him. This was the first sign that things were about to get worse.
Keep in mind I am incredibly busy and I do not live close to his office so I did not go there myself.

After a few weeks of calling, I received an email with the tax strategy. A few days later I read the email and my jaw dropped. At first I thought it was a joke or an error and I emailed him back. He responded and acted confused and said that he had done his job and would be executing the strategy he had outlined

The "tax strategy" Jamal had produced was nothing short of amateur - I am a bit rusty on my accountancy knowledge but even I could tell that what he had produced was terrible. I immediately told him to hold off before he did anything crazy.

If I did not do that, I would have been in very serious trouble with HMRC and my business which employs 10+ people would have completely gone under. The sneaky part is that Jamal would not have got in trouble whatsoever had he executed my strategy - the agreement states that he is not responsible.

DO NOT SIGN AN AGREEMENT WITH THIS MAN!

When I called him (and he was suddenly "available" again), he became cold and told me that I didn't know what I was talking about. I was incredibly patient with him but Jamal cannot see reason. He then threatened to involve his lawyers.

I then decided to cut things short and I was willing to pay him for what he had done so far. NOPE!

Jamal wanted all of the money (that included the money for executing his plan) - I refused and he then threatened litigation.

Jamal Khan is a very devious and deceptive man. If he does not get his way, he will threaten litigation. Beware!
