Beware of scams!!!
Beware!!! My partner started working on her skincare products during the pandemic, and we contacted designfication to help us with website design. From the get-go, there was something shady about their way of doing business; very pushy business tactics, and in less than two months, our project had been tossed around among three people already, at least, which I found weird.
After some search on the internet, a guy by the name of Kevin contacts me from designfication, and after some back and forth, he agreed to build the website for $400 for 25 products. Right away, he asks me for full payment before work commenced, and I asked him why not, at least, make part payment up front and the rest once the project is done? He insisted it's how they do their work. I went ahead with the payment with the expectation that I would get some document or at least some breakdown of what comes with the $400 package. Nothing! I asked him about it, and he said because "the $400 is usually not what they charge" he could not provide anything. That was a red flag for me, but I had already made the payment so I decided to ride along.
I was then assigned a different person (Mark) who asked me to fill out a questionnaire, and right before they began "working" on the website, they asked if I wanted to add 'live chat' and 'payment method integration' to the project to which I answered in the affirmative, but then I was told they came at extra costs. When I asked why should I be paying for those when I had not been provided any breakdown upfront that stated clearly these "other services" were not included, I was told that's what my $400 covered.
Then came Karen, the new project "manager", who basically parroted the same bs as previous "managers" when I asked about what exactly was included in my work. She even came up with yet other charges if I wanted them to do things like privacy policy, return policy, and some other contents. Finally, I had had enough, and when I decided to part ways with them and asked for a partial refund, I was told that my work was about 99% done when, in fact, all they had done to that point was to upload a theme, include an 'About' page which I provided them, include a phone number, and upload a logo(which I paid $50 for). Sadly, that's all my hard-earned $400 could get me. So my uncompleted website was handed over to me without any refund. On top of all this, the website was to be on a domain and hosting I purchased separately from another vendor, so all they had to do was to build the website and they failed to do so.
To anyone looking to build a website, I would advise you to save yourself the headache and look for better and more affordable options out there. And if, for some reason, you still decide to go with designfication, don't let them push you (as they can be very persistent and persuasive) into making a full payment upfront without any form of signed agreement stating what is/is not included in your package. I have learned it the hard, I guess. Thank you.
