From the initial quotation and technical explanation of the possible options through to the site survey, installation and commissioning DES were very professional. One reason I chose them was that they are not a one man business. They have staff covering different aspects of the project. They kept me informed of the progress.

I recently worked with Renewable Energy and was impressed from start to finish. The team was punctual, professional, and transparent about timelines and costs. They explained my options clearly, handled all the paperwork, and kept me updated throughout the process. Installation was neat and efficient, and they left everything cleaner than they found it. My system was up and running on schedule, and I’m already seeing lower energy bills. Post-install support has been responsive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend Renewable Energy for anyone looking for reliable service and a smooth, stress-free experience.

A thoroughly professional installation from start to finish

DES did a full install for me back in 2023...The whole process went very well, no problems and ever since we have been enjoying remarkably low bills...around £500 per year for all our energy and our house has improved it's EPC rating hugely as a result.

I am sorry to have to ruin DES Renewables' run of four and five star reviews, which includes a five star one from me after they installed our solar and battery system in 2023.

Regrettably, I can no longer recommend them, as their after sales service has been poor. We were happy with the pre-sales service and the installation went smoothly, and we have been broadly happy with the system since, although when a couple of minor issues have arisen (eg. a battery fault last year) they have not been very responsive and we have had to chase several times to get a resolution.

A few weeks ago our battery developed a fault and shortly thereafter the entire system seems to have failed, well within its warranty period. DES was unable to resolve the issue remotely so needed to send someone to diagnose the fault, which they insisted was a chargeable service despite the system still being under warranty. I was prepared, not without some reservations, to pay for a diagnostic visit but had to chase several times to get a date in the diary. On the first agreed date, they no-showed. On the second, they were able to make some progress in establishing that there is a hardware fault with the inverter which would require them to return with a part. This they did a few days later, only to sheepishly admit within minutes of arrival that they had the wrong part and promise they'll be in touch to reschedule a fourth visit with the correct part (which is scheduled for next week).

Throughout, there has been an attitude that they are somehow doing us a favour by honouring the warranty on the system they sold us, that they will get to us if and when it suits them, and that we can pay for the privilege.

I did previously recommend them to a few friends and neighbours, at least one of whom also bought a solar install from them, but given recent experience I can no longer do so.

We were complete novices when we started on our journey of exploring solar panels. We were then introduced to Darren. The designer. He was brilliant. He led us along a path of understanding and held our hands to ensure we clearly understood the system and could make an educated decison on how best to move forward and which scheme suited our needs best. Then the boys arrived on site. They were brilliant, considerate and helpful. Icing on the cake was Jack the installer. He was a magician and took great care and attention to detail with cabling and installation of the inverters and batteries. We would happily recommend this company. The whole team were brilliant. In Oct 25, my wife & I had a solar panel system installed by DES renewable Energy Ltd. onto the roof of our home. The work was successfully completed on time and without incident. Unfortunately, we had to ask for post installation assistance on two separate occasions. Communications after the event were helpful & professional & both incidents were resolved quickly and to my entire satisfaction. The process from initial contact, through installation & the after sales service has been helpful and constructive throughout. I am very happy to endorse this company.

Richard has created 3 proposal and answered all my questions. When install time has come, Jack, Spenser and Brandon has done splendid job, super efficient and quick.the roof work - Brandon and Spenser done it in no time and it looks great. The cabling was done by Jack - very neat and done exactly as I asked for. The unit required remote firmware upgrade, so Jack stayed back to make sure it’s all perfect and demoed it to me. From our initial enquiry everything was explained clearly and several options and costings provided.
We delayed making a final decision for 12 months but were never pestered or had pressure put upon us to go ahead.
The installation was carried out with little disruption and all wiring and equipment installation done very neatly.

Good explanation of the system by Oliver in the sales meeting. Actual installation took two days. Great job by Ben & Spencer on electricals and Stuart & Paul on roofwork. The scaffold was up a few days in advance and afterwards, total 8 days, which I gather is about normal, but bear that in mind if you don't like to leave a house unattended when it's covered in scaffolding. Ours survived Storm Goretti, so was obviously solid (even if the team did damage my cherry tree when they dismantled it!).
I like the fact that the whole team are part of DES (except the scaffolders who were MM Scaffolding in my case), so you just have one point of contact both before and after installation. Documentation was comprehensive and timely, including all the necessary certificates.
When trying to assess the payback it helps to understand discounted cash flow and do your own calculations. Simply dividing the price of the system by the annual savings will give an artificially short payback period. There are inevitably many major assumptions in the illustrations in the sales pack, which could affect payback by many years. Whether the system will increase the value of your house is also a matter of opinion.
You need to make sure you get on an appropriate tariff. Oliver was supposed to contact me after the installation to give guidance on this, but never did. However, it didn't matter, because ours is a Fox system (battery plus inverter) and I can highly recommend the "TonyM1958 FoxESS-Cloud" page on the github website: (sorry, Trustpilot won't let me paste a link) for fantastic guidance on understanding and using the Fox app and even programming the system yourself if you want.
We're on Octopus and can recommend them. They have tariffs specifically designed for solar systems. You get paid for exporting excess energy to the grid. This takes a few weeks to kick in. Ours hasn't yet, but everything else is looking good. Even in January we have been exporting quite a bit to the grid, and the battery charging/discharging and all other aspects of the system seem to be working very well.

I’m extremely pleased with the service provided by DES Renewable Energy Ltd, who recently installed a Solar PV and battery storage system at my property. From the outset, their communication was prompt, clear, and professional. They took the time to explain all the available options in detail and walked me through the entire installation process, which gave me real confidence in my decision.

The onsite team were excellent: Stuart and Paul carried out the solar panel installation, while Jack and Spencer handled the electrical side. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and very efficient. The whole installation was completed quickly, smoothly, and without any issues, taking just a day and a half.

The installation was done efficiently with the scaffolding up for a minimum time. A slight hiccough with the invertor and its wi-fi signal meant a replacement was necessary, but this was quickly dealt with - and by the boss himself. Subsequently, after six months of satisfactory service we had to ask DES to make some adjustments to the batteries to function in freezing conditions and to take a charge from the grid at night. This was done easily and we continue to be delighted with the entire system. Thoroughly recommended.

We had an excellent experience with DES Renewable Energy for the installation of our solar panel system, Tesla battery, and Powerwall 3. From the initial consultation through to securing DNO approval, the team was clear, professional, and highly responsive throughout.

Darren from DES created a bespoke SLD tailored to our installation, which was hugely appreciated. He was brilliant to work with, as were the wider team, the subcontracted scaffolders, and the electricians.

Excellent service and installation of our solar system by DES. Cannot fault the quality of the information provided, the installation itself, the products installed and the continued follow up and monitoring.

Darren Hart's advise and information was excellent. Too early to see if estimates of Energy produced are accurate. Installation team were great except they had to remove all the panels when they discovered they had forgotten the Optimisers, but still all completed in a day. All packaging and rubbish was removed except for a few bits and pieces in the attic. Scaffolders arrived a day late due to a puncture and they took 3 weeks after installation to remove scaffolding.
