I had three deliveries before Christmas. They arrived within 3,5 and 12 days. I was surprised to read the negative reviews. Also, shopping with Dymocks allows me to avoid Amazon ($1US million to Trump's inauguration, $70US for 'Melania' in return for tax cuts and anti-labour measures)

I have a gift card to use online to purchase paperbacks. Even though there is supposed to be an option at checkout to redeem gift cards, it's not there. I have emailed Dymocks several times over last few days, but only get an auto reply. Apparently their customer support doesn't exist.

Didn’t ship book and haven’t processed a refund.
Bought an advent calendar book at the start of November with a 7-10 day delivery turn around. It was in stock on the other side of town but ordered it with delivery for convenience. Come December and no sign of the book. Lodged a complaint and was told the book was out of stock with the supplier and it was a pre-order. Wasn’t disclosed about being on back order at all. They said they refunded it on the 3rd of December. No sign of refund they’ve ignored all further correspondence. Save yourself the hassle and take your business elsewhere
VERY DISAPPOINTED IN DYMOCKS
Very disappointed in Dymocks. Have been looking at a book for the past month as a Christmas present and was listed at a price of $22 odd dollars (no mention of this being a reduced price). Now BLACK FRIDAY sale has come along with 20% off full priced items the list price has now nearly doubled to $40.99.
Dymocks have lost my trust and business - will be buying the book elsewhere.
Such a shame as I am an avid reader and love bookstores.

loyal Dymocks customer treated like dirt
As a loyal customer of Dymocks for over 30 years, I was surprised and disappointed that Dymocks would not exchange a book because it had fallen a few days outside the sixty day return period.
Book is brand new with receipt, and is a non perishable product.
Dymocks staff are rude and arrogant, especially considering it's so much cheaper to buy online.
WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN A DYMOCKS STORE AGAIN.
Express did not impress
Made an online order with express postage costing $20. Firstly, that’s a waste of money as they don’t send anything out express. They charge the fee, sit the order aside for a few days, and then say it’s being packed. Took over 1 week to get and when it arrived was missing 6 books. Was not notified of this at any stage and only when I enquired where the rest were they advised the other 5 were being packed to send. As mentioned there were 6 books, the other one was advertised for sale but they then realised they had no copies. But instead of letting me know or refunding they just seemed as though they were just hoping I would forget. Not the best online ordering system. In saying that, the staff member I dealt with was very helpful in doing what she could to sort the problem. Still have not received the order and don’t think it’s been sent. And the other book is likely months away. If you want books in a hurry or great online service then I wouldn’t recommend.
Order confirmed but not fulfilled
I placed an order on 27th Dec for delivery on 17th Jan. The item had not arrived on 17th Jan nor had I received any shipping notification so I contacted customer service to enquire. No answer from a person, only the choice to leave a voicemail so I called back again and the same thing. I left a voicemail and received an email back on the Sunday morning saying that the order cannot be found on their end (although my dymocks online profile and my emails show confirmation and all order details). They have advised that they will refund the money however no refund has been received as yet but there is still time for that. I'm assuming the online service is off shore and I'm unsure why the order wasn't processed and why they didn't just fulfil the order for me when I enquired. Something feels fishy about this company.

Placed an order on Fri, Dec 6, 3:14 PM (13 days ago), and the delivery estimation was for Dec 18th, 2024, for Wicked Special Edition (Hardback - green sprayed edges). I have not received an email to say it's being processed and it's on its way, nor have received an email to say that it out of stock.
I have, like quite a few other negative reviews over the last few days, where I have used the so called "Live Chatbox" only for it to have no one attending it, to actually calling them via phone for their prerecorded message saying you are in line there is a two minute wait following up by saying please leave your order number and phone number and we will get in contact with you. I followed up by trying to use social media and received only crickets.
Is Dymocks going the way of how Booktopia went??? I stopped buying from Dymocks for ages and only just started buying from them again this year even though they are so ridiculously expensive and now this?!
Stay clear of the online bookstore
Stay clear of the online bookstore. They tell you the order will be be delivered on certain date. Item does not come. No one answers the phone, they have a robot online that then says no one available. I have sent countless emails and all no response.
I am at a loss as to what to do. I even rang an actual book store who said we know it's bad but nothing we can do.
I guess I just need to order from a more reputable site and accept my money has been stolen.
I am stunned. NEVER ORDER ANYTHING FROM DYMOCKS ONLINE. Absolutely disgusting service and there goes my Christmas presents. I will need to rebuy from a reputable store.
29 Dec... still not receive my order. No updates. I was told the books aren't at the warehouse yet. In the interim I have ordered books again, and arrived on the 23rd. Not sure why it is so hard for Dymocks . Still no email updates, despite all my emails.

On 4/12/24 I ordered 2 books online from Dymocks & paid extra for express delivery - so that it arrived in time for Grandson’s 5th birthday. One book did arrive promptly however have yet to receive 2nd book which was the one for grandson.
I have written 2x to customer service but have yet to receive a reply and that is very poor customer service.
Reading the previous reviews:
Dymocks need to improve their inventory & increase number of customer service staff so that issues can be resolved quickly - at least offer a platform of communication. Furthermore staff need to be trained to answer the phone with a smile on their face & treat every customer as though they are their best friend because - customers are Dymocks best friends.
This was the first time I ordered from Dymocks & it will be the last. Never again!

Terrible Customer Service, have a phone line that is never answered, don't respond to chat on website or emails. Don't respond to voicemails. Ordered three books and only received two. Trying to get third book to be collected in store so I have in time for Christmas but can't get a hold of anyone. Staff in store have also been very rude and dismissive. Will never buy from Dymocks again. Have lost money and now have no Christmas Present.

Deception, lies and incompetence!

No confirmation of order. I tried several times to contact Dymocks, but there was no response to messages.
Eventually, I called on 12/12/24 and was assured on the phone that my order had gone through and would arrive at their warehouse in 2 days' time and would then be forwarded to me.
Nowhere on the website did it say that the book was not in stock or that it would be coming anywhere other than directly from Dymocks.
Then, on 15/12/24, I received a reply to my original email (sent 6/12) saying that the book was actually not available from their supplier. The book that I was told had already been sent from the supplier and should have arrived at Dymocks warehouse the day before! Why did it take so long for Dymocks to advise that they were not going to be able to fulfil the order in the timeframe promised?!
I thought I was doing the right thing by "supporting local"! Now my daughter misses out on her Christmas present as it is too late for me to order from somewhere else and have it arrive in time.
Absolutely let down and disappointed by the whole experience.
I will be sticking to Amazon in future, which has always delivered as and when promised.
Don't use Dymocks - incorrect delivery times, terrible customer service
I ordered a book with express post that the site claimed would be dispatched the next day - it was not. It is now 2 days past the expected delivery date and it has not been dispatched.
Dymocks do not answer their phone line and do not reply to emails or chat messages. You can leave a voice mail message on the phoneline and they have got back to me on that. I wasn't able to answer their call and they left a message asking me to call their help line again (which they don't answer) so I left another voice message... I have asked them to cancel my order and issue a refund but this has not happened even though the book still hasn't been dispatched.

Have a coupon but can't spend it on the site. Seriously guys. Sort that shit out. Tried 4 times with no luck. Went to open the live chat support - it wouldn't load.
If you're going to sell gift cards for actual money you'd better make sure they actually work.

I really wish you could put no stars and I'm copying this review to as many platforms as possible. Mum has terminal cancer and I wanted to get her a book that prompted and allowed her to document special moments in her life. After paying for expedited shipping, stating it would leave the warehouse in 7-10 days and showing they had stock, I received no communication from them. After 2 phone calls I was told the book was not in stock and was being delivered to the warehouse in a week, to then add on the delivery times to make it to me. Another 5 weeks. My Mum may not have that kind of time. That level of incompetence should be fired.

Terrible express delivery service.
If you want something delivered fast do not shop at Dymocks. I have a friend going on a holiday to Greece soon and he wanted to try to learn some Greek before he went. I bought him a book ( and accompanying CDs ) from Dymocks online on 24/3/2024 at 2.22pm and paid extra for express delivery so it could come quickly. It didn't arrive till around 9 am on 4/4/2024. The Dymocks express delivery service is totally unsatisfactory. Very unprofessional. Sluggish. Slow. Definitely not express delivery. By way of comparison I made an online purchase from Kmart on 27/3/2024 at 1.56pm. Item arrived following morning ( 28/3 ) at 8.51am. Similarly made an online purchase at Bunnings on 27/3/2024 at 2.46pm. Item arrived following morning ( 28/3 ) at 7.50 am, even faster than Kmart. Now that is service and neither Bunnings nor Kmart were express delivery. That is their ordinary delivery service. Dymocks have a jolly hide to charge extra for express delivery with such a slow service. If that is their express delivery service I shudder to think what their ordinary delivery service is like. From now on Dymocks will be my last port of call. If I need books I will try to find what I need in other bookstores before I give Dymocks my business again.The express delivery service was terrible. It is also worth noting that the response from the staff at Dymocks was dismissive and uncaring, unkind.

Falsely advertises stock levels and promotions - buyer bewareThe cost of the two books I was after were a lot more expensive on Dymocks compared to the competition but I decided to go with them because of a promotion they were promoting about an included limited print with Fourth Wing. Several days later I recieved only one book instead of the two and the print in the mail. Only after contacting them I was told they had run out of the print even though one month later they are still promoting the bonus print on their online site!!! Very dodgy. They also told me they had run out of the second book I ordered even though that also shows as in stock and I had to reach out to find out why I didn't receive all of my order. Wasnt refunded for the difference in postage. Next time I will shop on Amazon, very poor customer experience - buyer beware.
