What has happed to Sony who in years…

What has happed to Sony who in years gone by were a brand name and at the top of their league, now they hide away making it difficult to contact them. In the event this is picked up we would like some advice on our Sony Bravia which has a picture still as new but slow to turn on and keeps resetting itself and Netflix freezes and cuts out.

Sony Bravia TV

We bought Sony Bravia TV in 2021, barely used it since we were overseas. We came home in March 2024 and started using it regularly. In June the display became faulty. The technician came and checked they confirmed that the TV is well kept and like a brand new one. It was very clear that we got a faulty product. They quoted Rs 36000 to fix it but without any guarantee. I didn’t go for their offer. We contacted a local tv repair shop and they fixed the problem in Rs 3000.
Please don’t trust Sony products or services. They will cheat you with their faulty product and service.

Pulse Explorer Earbuds

I'll start by saying I'm a Sony fanboy. Multiple TV's, Playstations since 2, Soundbars, PSP, and the Portal. The Pulse Explorer Earbuds are the worst rip off ever! $200 for a product that can't stay connected half the time! When they work, they're great. But I just want to chuck them across the room every time I hear the beep and see the onscreen message that they've disconnected. I play 5-6 days a week, and it happens 3-4 of those days. Terrible waste of $. I don't recommend them.

The Great WH1000-XM4 Rip-Off

Received a pair of WH1000-XM4 headphones in October 2023. Used them indoors and occasionally to the shops. By end of January 2024, they stopped charging. Was initially instructed to perform a factory reset and that worked. Unfortunately, the issue returned a week later and the factory reset had no effect.

Contacted the retailer who arranged for me to send the headphones off to Sony for investigation.

Sony get back to me saying the charging port has been damaged by corrosion, and that this cannot be fixed. They also advised the issue is not covered by the warranty. They offered a return of the faulty headphones, or a reduced cost for a new pair (about 50%). They also sent a photo of the 'evidence' which genuinely looked as if had been taken by a toddler using a potato smeared in vaseline.

I argued this but in the end, both the retailer and sony refused to help.

All I can say about these headphones, is avoid AT ALL COSTS and but something that is fit for purpose.

Genuinely, type in the model and 'charging point corrosion' to see how many have taken to the internet to tell the exact same story. It's astonishing.

If these were £25 headphones from the Aldi middle aisle I'd be ready to cut my losses, but they're not. They're £300 flagship headphones from one of the worlds biggest tech companies.

The headphones are not fit for purpose, nor was sonys response.

1* is generous. Do. Not. Buy. These. Headphones.

The product quality alone is way worse than it was even 10 years ago, and thats not even the worse part about this company. Their customer service, their "solutions", and definitely their management and higher ups are the sleaziest snakes you'll ever hear about

I have had major problems with customer…

I have had major problems with customer service (Nuj Employ# 1077586) and have been constantly been hung up on waiting to speak to someone. I have over 3 hours of my time concerning a radio purchased and given as a gift with an important part missing. I am ready to post my nightmare with Sony on all forms of social media and all consumer groups.
Sony refused to replace the missing part stating it was past warranty.
I WILL NEVER BUY SONY PRODUCTS AGAIN

Sony 65" BRAVIA XR X90L Great TV

Sony 65" BRAVIA XR X90L Great TV! I went with Full Array and not with the OLED because as an international photographer I know the brighter something is the more contrast will be lost. That being say the Sony 90L is bright without loss of contrast. Sound is good for a TV but awesome with by Marshall Stanmore ii speaker. I do not use sound bars because they do not last as long as speaker(s) and for me speaker(s) sounds better than sound bar.

Spam emails after purchase

Purchased a mobile phone directly from the Sony site. Now I'm getting spammed every day to buy a new mobile phone from Sony. Customer support is unbelievably inept. Won't be buying from Sony again.

What in the world has happened to Sony?!!!!!!!!

What in the world has happened to Sony? It was the go-to company for consumer electronics.
My wife and I purchased a Sony XR48A90K OLED TV in Sept of 2022. One year and one month later, it failed while watching it. The problem is the software. Something glitched in the Android Operating System, and now the TV cannot be re-booted or made to work. After following the reboot process with Sony Support, the television just sits there for fifteen minutes until the SONY logo comes up, then it goes into an "Update" mode that never ends. It cannot find the wireless link (needs the password) or ethernet to do the update. Sony Support, which sounded like it was in Mexico City, was kind and helpful, until it didnt work and they found out our unit was one month beyond their narrow one year warranty. We have after-market support on it because our dealer did not offer Sony extended warranties, so we will see how that goes. But to have a state of the art television die in just over a year by software suicide is just ridiculous. I thought I would never say this, but why buy Sony ever again?!! They dont care. If it is not an easy reboot fix, you are dead in the water and must take your product to a Sony Service Center to get it going again. Bad! Bad! Bad! They do an automatic software update, and the programming errors become our problem.

Had about 5 tv from Sony from 55 inches to 75 inches and everyone has broke there screen with ease there screens are cheap thin rubbish and offer no replacements when it is simple to replace totally unacceptable and a fraud on ur customers will never ever buy another Sony product again

Sony A95K QD OLED 65" TV

This is a great TV, I have no complaints about the picture what so ever. However, I do have a serious complaint about the design of the set, particularly for its priority of hiding cables behind panels that snap into the back of the set. I live in a real world, 800 sq. ft. living space, and I have the TV against a wall. This is a high end TV, yet Sony expects consumers to use the cheap cables that they include with the set.

I use high end cables, because they DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! in my audio system. Yes they are obscenely expensive, but less expensive than upgrading your electronics. Having to connect thick cables upward, blindly, to the A95K interfaces when there is little room to get behind the TV is beyond annoying. I had to buy an adaptor to be able to use my high end power cable - no grounding plug on the A95K interface - but at least the 90 degree adapter made it easy to connect my high end power cable, because there wasn't enough clearance to fit the plug.

I regret not researching the interfaces on this set, because cables do get dusty, and I have to spend several hours instead of several minutes, a couple times a year to clean, and reconnect the cables. I guess by the time I am in the market for another TV, it will be totally wireless, but in the meantime, I have to suffer with Sony's incredibly stupid industrial design.
