The company refuse to cancel my order/refund my money after I mistakenly hit the order button when attempting to put in the discount code. I immediately called and emailed them, in less than 5 min. At 1am they sent an email stating they could not cancel because the order was shipped.
I already had Emay's single-lead EKG and an oximeter (which failed) when I bought their 6-lead EKG for $148 and change. I checked that it'd work with a MacBook Pro, downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, used a USB-C to USB-C cable to "bind" the device to my MBP and it worked great. I downloaded EKGs on numerous occasions and was mid-download when the app suddenly disappeared - literally disappeared from my screen.
NOTE: Apple stopped adding USB-A ports to MacBook Pros in 2021.
NOTE: My laptop far exceeded the OS version required by Emay.
Anyway, I redownloaded from the App Store, tried to reinstall and connect the EKG. No-go. So I deleted the Emay app and downloaded from their site.
NOTE: The app from the Emay site is OLDER than what's on the Apple App Store. No dice.
So I wrote an review on Amazon describing the app failure and noting the device is useless without the app.
Emay contacted me to offer a refund. I should have grabbed it but they said they stand behind their product and I wanted to give them the benefit so I
described my Mac device, using the cable and explained the software issue in detail.
They offered a new cable and I said yes in case their cable was extra-high quality. work. But Instead of an Emay cable, they sent a cheap "Amazon Basics" USB-A to USB-C - the type that comes with everything.
NOTE: Emay's instructions to me referred to PC (Windows), phone, iPad - everything *except* a MacBook pro.
Unfortunately, absent a special dongle or hub, a USB-A is pretty useless on a MacBook 2021 or later.
So I today wrote back describing how and why the troublehooting and cable failed and asked for the refund. Their response was surprisingly condescending and dismissive and basically called me a liar.
Apparently, they paid no attention to my careful details, stating the "the mechanic" can't work with USB-C to USB-C - even though it did for weeks - and if I wanted a refund, I must return the device with tracking #, etc. They completely ignored the fact that the device worked fine with a USB-C-USB-C cable. I have 47 readings to prove it.
My response today was that a reputable company would send a prepaid RMA label or envelope. And, that despite my consistent repetition of facts and invitation to troubleshoot, Emay has given me contradictory instructions, ignored my device type and have obviously decided I am garbage and are treating me with officious disdain.
The fact is their device a/o software are obsolete for 5 years' of Apple laptops.
Note: the EKG device itself gave me some wildly inaccurate readings until I figured out the amount of pressure required.
So be warned: First, their devices are iffy and supposedly only work with USB-A which is near-obsolete technology, and their app versions are of varying ages; but worse, their customer service is rude and contemptuous. I gave them the courtesy of another chance to troubleshoot the app, etc. and they are insisting that a cable that worked could not have worked.
Avoid these people; there are better products - and companies - out there.
Hey, Emay! I have 47 downloaded readings to prove the USB-C to USB-C cable worked on a 2021 MacBook Pro. What have you got?
