I completed driving lessons over summer of 2025 with Andy, and I have just received a first-time pass!

Stephen was such a good instructor and really helped with my nerves. Never thought I’d have the confidence to drive let alone pass first time. Stephen makes things very clear and would 100% recommend him.

First time passed!
I had a very good experience in learning how to drive under the supervision of John. As a first time learner/driver with no prior experience, John stood as very good and patient teacher in making sure that I am not only safe to drive but also thought about being precise and being accurate with my maneuvers. I struggled at first on how to gauge or read other drivers attitude on the road but he taught me to think on my own and not following what other drivers were doing ahead of me. We have been too many roundabouts, dual carriageways and hot spot junctions and had to repeat over and over again to make sure that I get it right. All the lessons and difficult situations we have encountered during my lessons with John all pays well. I recommend John to anyone planning to learn how to drive automatic car. The best part is you will be able to drive a Mercedes GLA all electric 😄 Thank you John!

I’ve been learning with Wayne from day one, and I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. He’s not only great at teaching but also just a genuinely kind and down-to-earth person.

He always encouraged me to be more confident behind the wheel, but never pushed me beyond what I was ready for. His approach was calm, patient, and supportive, which made a huge difference, especially in the early days when everything felt overwhelming.

Thanks to his guidance, I built up my skills at a steady pace and felt fully prepared going into my test. I passed, and I know it’s because of the solid foundation he helped me build.

I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and friendly instructor who knows how to bring out the best in their students.

I had Kate as my driving instructor for the past 6 months. Kate is a great teacher, very reliable, understanding & knew exactly how to overcome any problems. My confidence was excelled and pleased to say I passed first time with Kate. I would recommend her to anyone!!

I came to Ellison’s as a very anxious driver after having a bad experience elsewhere and was directed to Kate. She guided me through everything. Staying calm especially when I couldn’t and coaching me through every worry I had. Kate cheered me on while calmly teaching me how to improve on whatever needed work. I have now passed with only 3 minors and honestly feel I couldn’t have done it without Kate's teaching methods and understanding.

Was everything I was hoping for, he helped me in many ways and was very invested in me passing, I couldn't have passed without him... I recommend Ellison's but I recommend Andy even more!!

I was recommended to John Ashfield by a friend, and I can confidently say it was one of the best recommendations I’ve ever received. From the very first lesson, John was incredibly patient, supportive, and always on time. His calm approach and deep, versatile knowledge of the road made learning feel less intimidating and more empowering.

I honestly never thought I could drive — but John believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. He explained things clearly, adapted his teaching style to suit my pace, and created a comfortable, encouraging environment every step of the way. Whether it was mastering roundabouts or navigating tricky parking spots, he always had a practical tip to offer.

I’m now a confident driver thanks to John, and I’ll be forever grateful. If you’re looking for a driving instructor who genuinely cares about your progress and success, I couldn’t recommend John Ashfield more highly.

After having 2 previous instructors that wasn’t the right match I then started lessons with Jason Cole and all I can say is he is absolutely amazing! He made me feel instantly comfortable and his teaching methods are amazing and effective! Never been so pleased with an instructor, passed first time too! He’s absolutely great :)

I passed my driving test today and its all thanks to Andy!! What a amazing instructor very calm, respectful, helpful and over all such a amazing guy!! Highly recommend him 👌 😁

Well what can I say about Jason Cole!!

I started taking lessons with him about 3 months ago & his methods of teaching are fantastic, from his calm personality, too his great little saying's that will say with me when I'm out driving without him. He's defiantly made leaning to drive fun. His attention to detail to fine tune your skills are what sets him apart.

I highly recommend him if anyone in the area is thinking about driving.

TLDR: Absolutely exceptional driving instructor.

I've just passed with no minors after a series of lessons with Chris. Honestly was an absolute pleasure to learn from, patient, understanding and his teaching method is absolutely fantastic. I feel so well equipped to be out on the roads now, though I will genuinely miss our lessons.
He's a very good egg, and will do his best to make your learning experience a really great one!

I had the privilege of learning to drive with Andrew Hickling (Andy), and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. When I started, I had a some bad habits for sure like driving with one hand on the wheel—but Andy helped me unlearn those and build much safer, more confident driving habits.

What I appreciated most was how carefully he watched everything and gave honest, helpful feedback throughout. He made sure I understood exactly where I needed to improve, which really helped me feel prepared when it came time for the actual test.

He’s not just a great instructor—he’s a great human being as well as a person, and it genuinely shows in the way he supports and encourages his students. I’d highly recommend him to anyone learning to drive.

If driving instructors were superheroes, mine would be The Calm-nator. Patient like a monk, sharp as a hawk, and with nerves of steel (especially during my first attempt at parking 😅).

Thanks to Jason Cole, I now know my left from my right, my brake from my accelerator — and most importantly, how to survive a roundabout without causing a traffic incident.

Highly recommend if you want to learn to drive without needing therapy afterward.

It’s been such an enjoyable journey with her — she was always so supportive and kind, and honestly, she believed in me even more than I believed in myself sometimes 🤣. Adrian is an amazing instructor, the way he helped me learn was perfect for me and helped me pass first time, would recommend him and all of Ellison's as a whole.

Passed my test first time with Andy and he was amazing. Very calm, patient, respectful and very helpful. Above all just a nice guy who I would 100% recommend for anybody who is nervous about starting driving lessons.

Learning to drive was way more challenging than I expected, especially at first. I'm so grateful I had Stephan Bailey as my instructor! He was unbelievably patient and went above and beyond, making sure I was confident driving in all kinds of conditions, not just enough to pass the test. Thanks, Steve, for everything!
