Payment terms changed after work was completed
I worked with Estyl on a part-time backend role for about a month.
The engagement was understood as a fixed monthly arrangement. I completed the work, which included debugging production issues, deployments, migrations, and feature updates.
After the work was delivered, the payment terms were changed. My invoice of $2000 was reduced to $450, which did not match what was originally agreed.
Communication stopped after that, and I was not able to resolve it directly.
I’ve also come across similar experiences from others, which raises concerns about how engagements are handled.
This experience did not feel professional or fair.
Pros:
Interesting product idea
Exposure to real backend systems
Cons:
Payment terms changed after work completion
Lack of clarity in engagement expectations
Communication dropped when issues were raised
