The agent called Ayo set up an appointment on Saturday morning a couple days before the viewing. I called an hour before the viewing on the day to confirm. The people in the office claimed they got in touch with him and confirmed. Then I travelled an hour to get there only to be informed that the apartment is not available anymore. this agency has serious issues with treating people with respect and I believe this has to do with the fact that I have an ethnic name so it was okay for them to treat me this way.

I was looking to rent out my apartment in Bow and David Greenslade and his team at FJ Lord Bow Lettings were recommend to me by my neighbour as they had recently found tenants for his apartment. The team were very responsive and the marketing was excellent. Tenants were secured and I would highly recommend David and his team to any landlord.

Good management, OK contractors
We have been renting with FJL for about a year now and it has generally been good bar some of the miscommunication that has happened when we've needed a fix/inquiry in the property. We have specifically dealt with Jean and she has been great and been proactive with the requests made and makes sure to follow up, the downside is that some contractors that they send are hit and miss in terms of resolving the problem and them needing to come back etc.

They stopped replying to calls and emails once the keys got handed over. Flat was not properly checked before they handed it over. They are not interested in sending anyone out to look at the issues we are having. Quick to take deposit etc though....

Canceld after holding Deposit
This company caused me extrem hassel . Because, they accepted my documents and pushed me to pay the deposit. Then after 25 days , they canceled claiming the land lord not accepting students. Then i had to start from zero and search for accomodation waisting my Time and Money. They were even hesitant to refund my deposit.

Harrassed me for months about rent I did not owe
I moved out of a flat managed by the hackney branch of Felicity J Lord. After a few initial calls and emails to hand in my notice they stopped communicating at all. I was not given a check out appointment, nor given any details on how to hand back my keys.
About a month after moving out I started receiving letters telling me I was in rent arrears, though I had definitely paid all the rent I was due.
Getting in touch with FJL to sort this out was impossible. Nobody ever answered the phone number or email address on these letters. Whenever I called the hackney branch nobody would pick up the phone. When I emailed the staff I'd previously spoke to, they would not reply.
After I'd received a few of these letters, I received emails from FJLs insurance company that strongly implied I was about to be taken to court. This was very stressful and again nobody from FJL would even speak to me never mind let me know what was going on.
I did eventually manage to bypass the agent and speak directly to the landlord. The landlord also struggled to get in touch with the agent, but eventually managed to get it resolved - FJL had somehow put completely false information into their systems.
I'd advise any potential tenants or landlords to find another agent - doesn't seem like FJL are capable of providing a good service to tennants or landlords.

Very poor experience
Rented a property with a friend - there was a significant bathroom leak which we tried to report about 20 times with numerous phone calls (no answer) and about six emails. Leak was only fixed after two months.

Really underwhelming experience
Really underwhelming experience. Phoned to try to arrange a valuation, the person on the phone was abrupt and had lots of unnecessary questions. Valuation then booked and the agent didn't turn up and they never followed up.

Unresponsive, incompetent property managers
We signed FJL up as our property manager in 2019.
In that time, we've had 5 different managers, each hard to get hold of and unresponsive. I've found out that at least three had left after I received an out of office email stating they 'no longer worked for FJL'.
One of the property managers pushed us to sign up tenants who weren't a good fit - who ended up abandoning the property mid-lease.
We have done more admin with this property despite having them as the property manager - and they didn't process a HMRC form properly meaning money was withheld incorrectly for HMRC (when it shouldn't have).
Very frustrated with their poor service and I would not recommend them as property managers at all. I just hope they were decent managers for our tenants (although we've now had 4 tenants over the last 3 years...which gets me thinking they haven't done a stellar job on that end either).

Complete negligence - just want to leave
The way this company treats its tenants is absolutely disgusting. I’ve lived in my property for two years now, over that time I can’t count how many times I’ve been ignored and let down.
No one at F J Lord replies to you about anything. The day I moved into my property I noted 10-15 repairs that needed fixing - in the two years I’ve lived there I have been promised that “it will be done next month” over and over again. Not one thing was fixed. Nothing.
My flatmate spent hours crying on the phone, begging them to fix her bed as she was sleeping on a broken mattress on the floor. This went on for months.
Our front door broke, leaving us locked INSIDE with no way out. I called 30+ times asking for an emergency fix. They never came, I changed the lock out of my own pocket and was never compensated.
Now I am trying to move out, all I need F J Lord to do is reply to my new landlord to verify my references. And still they won’t reply! I don’t know what to do. I have called and emailed over and over again, all you have to do is verify my references! I am about to lose my new apartment and continue to be trapped here.
If someone at F J Lord is reading this, PLEASE can you get in contact with me to complete my referencing. I just want to leave now.

Refusal to do essential repairs
We moved into our property 4 months ago.
The property was not remotely clean, many items were leftover from the previous tenants, and half the blinds in the property were missing or broken. These are still not resolved.
We then experienced an issue with the hot water and the en suite shower. Felicity J Lord considered these issues to be "non-urgent" and did not make any attempt to fix them. As I write this review, it has been 35 days and a contractor has still not been organised to even look at the issue.
Throughout this time, Felicity J Lord has consistently played down the seriousness of the issues with the property and attempted at all times to avoid communication.
I have never received such a poor experience from a letting agency before Felicity J Lord.
28 Year Tenancy
I have had a tenancy at the same property for twenty eight years now. When I first moved in, in 1994 It was the Woolwich.
I have seen staff come and go over the years as people do, but the one thing that has remained constant is that the staff that work in that office have always been the most nicest and competent of people.
Anything which has needed to be attended to as been dealt with promptly.In good time,and in a positive and friendly manner.
All the ladies who are at Blackheath are a credit to themselves and Felicity J Lord.
Most especially I would like to give a big Thankyou to Teresa and Lilly who I can't speak highly enough of.
Whatever these ladies are being paid, it's not enough.
