The first 15 transactions through Marie…

The first 15 transactions through Marie Etherington went off without a hitch. This last one was so bad I could only award 1 star. Apparently Marie is out of the office so Michael Parmenter handled the deal which resulted in an 8 day delay in moving funds from the UK to Spain. On the Monday morning early GC Partners acknowledged receipt of my funds into their bank. By Wednesday my Spanish account had not received any funds so I queried this with Michael who later informed me the deal was held up due to my account requiring an update. I updated my account immediately with my 'unchanged' details and asked Michael why I was only  informed of this requirement after my query. Anyway GC bankers informed me on Thursday that they had executed thd transfer. However, many emails exchanged between us and as of the next Monday evening still no funds in my bank account. Later that night at 21:04 the funds arrived - 8 says to effect a transfer! In the meantime I raised a complaint with GC compliance dep. and now that the funds have arrived they asked must the case be continued or closed? By now it makes no difference to me as I won't use GC Partners again. (Hopefully management read all the emails).

Poor rate of exchange

Just sold apartment in Spain our lawyer used GCEN for our money transfer to Uk
Poor exchange rate at least £1000 less than other quotes from XE currency
Attitude was take it or leave it

Mr Doolan, Thank you for your feedback. As discussed in our final response to your complaint, the rate you were quoting as a comparative rate was the interbank rate. As explained, this is the rate at which the banks trade at; a rate that unfortunately is not achievable for us as a business or you as a client. I would also like to confirm that within the call with our representative you were asked to confirm several times that you wished to proceed at the rate you were quoted. At no point were you forced into accepting the rate and in fact the representative confirmed you had no obligation to proceed and offered to keep you updated with the rate instead, but you agreed to proceed at that time. We strive to provide the best service possible for all of our clients and we are sorry to hear you’re upset, however you were given the opportunity to consider the rate, or another provider, but you chose to proceed. GCEN - Good company for money transfers.

I have been using GCEN to transfer money from the UK to Spain since 2009. For a couple of years, the transfer was very slow and would sometimes take up to 12 days. Since then, the service has improved considerably and the transfer now takes about 2-3 days.

The exchange rate is very good compared to other currency exchange companies and the rate increases between GBP1-5k. Once your account is open, the process is very simple and takes a few minutes online.There is a limit on how much can be purchased online because of money laundering regulations. I would definitely recommend them.
