Does anyone have any ideas for how to get out of this scam company, Fleetsmart/Blue Water Capital? I am trying to get a release letter from them, but every time I call, they tell me to send a letter to a buyout link. We need to file a lawsuit against this business. I think they are putting a lot of small businesses out of business.

The reviews here are fake. They have more than 300 complaints on BBB.

In my experience, this company contacts new trucking carriers and tries to sell you on different services and promises, clearly aiming to see if you’ll show even a small amount of interest. I clearly said no and never agreed to anything.

Despite that, FleetSmarts filed a UCC‑1 lien against my company without any signed contract, without authorization, and without my consent. I did not find out until three months later, when my factoring company called me to explain that they could no longer work with me because FleetSmarts had filed a lien in first position.

My factoring company was genuinely saddened when they saw the lien. They told me they were not surprised because FleetSmarts has had a bad reputation for this same unethical practice for years. Once a lien like this is filed, no other factoring company will work with you, which effectively traps you and pressures you into doing business with FleetSmarts or shutting down your operations. Fleetsmarts asks carriers to pay $500 to release them. Although you never asked them or signed anything, or receive any service from them. They will pretend that they have a recording where you agreed. Even when the recording have you saying NO thank you.

I have emails, call recordings, and written confirmation from FleetSmarts stating that I never signed any document or agreed to any service. Yet they still filed the lien and refused to remove it.

If you are a new trucking company and you hear the name “FleetSmarts,” my advice is simple: hang up immediately. Do not engage. Otherwise, just like me you will be one more added to the 300 complaints they have on BBB.

This company filed a UCC lien against our business (without a signed contract, application, or authorization).

Their own representative confirmed that the person they were working with was not the owner and did not have the authority to act on our behalf. The phone numbers used were not associated with us.

However, they only filed a lien based on an "expression of interest". This company is a scam company that we are concerned about after we took legal action against them

This is very concerning and unprofessional. A UCC filing should never be filed without proper authorization and supporting documentation.

We are now taking formal steps to have this lien removed.

Be very careful when dealing with this company.

I strongly urge other small business owners to proceed with extreme caution when dealing with Fleetsmarts.

Our company, never signed or executed any formal agreement with Fleetsmarts. Despite this, a UCC lien was filed against our business. We have documented proof that no agreement was ever completed, including repeated reminders from Fleetsmarts themselves asking us to sign their initial Card Agreement.

At no point was a UCC filing clearly explained, authorized, or signed. The initial onboarding call was even disconnected, and there was no follow-up clarification regarding any lien or security interest.

When we requested removal of the UCC, instead of resolving the issue, we were presented with a “Mutual Release Agreement” containing inaccurate statements and conditions requiring us to waive our legal rights, agree not to pursue complaints, and accept a version of events that is not true.

They have refused to release the UCC unless we sign this agreement, which raises serious concerns about their business practices.

We have since filed complaints with the Connecticut Attorney General’s Office and other regulatory agencies.

This experience has been extremely frustrating and concerning. Business owners should be very cautious and ensure they fully understand any terms before engaging.

I need a help with my cards but no one help me and they put my call on hold for at least an hour. Very bad customer service and when i requested for supervisor and they told every time she in meeting.Morover supervisor never call me back.

Do not do business with this company. They bully victims and file unlawful UCC liens against businesses, even without a contract or prior relationship. This company is unprofessional. Once contacted, they will act in bad faith to avoid terminating the relationship, including withholding required letters of release. Avoid working with them at all costs. We are filing a formal retaliation complaint with the BBB and AFA (American Factoring Association).

Fleetsmart reached out to me for fuel card which i signed. I have not used their fuel card not once. I've asked them to cancel the card because the fraudulently put a ucc filing on my trucking company for factoring. I have never signed up with them for factoring and I've asked them to remove it. this has been going on for 2 years. they have not remove it. i have never signed up with this company. I reached out today no response.I really do not know what to do.

Mathew form Fleetsmarts contacted me about their fuel card program a year ago, I never signed any agreement, activated a card, or consented to factoring services.

Despite this, they filed an unauthorized UCC-1 financing statement against my business.
The lien remains active despite repeated requests for a UCC-3 termination. This has prevented me from using other factoring services, resulting in thousands of dollars in lost revenue and cash flow disruptions.
My association with this company has come at a steep price: serious damage to my mental health, together with an inordinate expenditure of time and vitality.

This pattern matches numerous complaints on BBB (hundreds reported), Trustpilot, and trucking forums, where others describe unsolicited UCC filings linked to fuel card inquiries.

I strongly advise businesses—especially owner-operators and small trucking companies—to avoid Fleetsmarts entirely.
I have preserved all documentation and am pursuing remedies, including potential legal action, to remove the filing and recover damages.

Factoring with Fleetsmarts and their service was poor.As per our contractual agreement, either party has the right to terminate the agreement at any time with a simple notice, thereby precluding any long-term commitment. I formally notified them that I did not wish to renew my contract with the company upon its expiration. I also requested a Notice of Release letter from Fleetsmarts to facilitate my transition to a new factoring company. To date, Fleetsmarts has declined to honor my request. Instead, told me my contract has been automatically renewed for an additional year. I have repeatedly communicated to Fleetsmarts that this renewal is invalid.i has unequivocally informed Fleetsmarts that I am no longer engaged in business with them. Please avoid them if you can.they are not to be trusted. I am still battling with them to cancel UCC filing and issues release letter. Any advice will be appreciated.

I would give negative stars if I can I've been with them for 6 months they charge alot of hidden fees which would total 7.5% some times even more. Don't sign any contracts from this predatory company.

I received a call from FleetSmart, and they presented some appealing offers for their fuel card. They assured me of various benefits and asked me to sign the contract after sending detailed information via email. I agreed and requested that they send me the details in writing before signing. They did send the email, but I quickly realized that the information was not genuine, so I chose not to sign the contract. Despite this, they still filed a UCC against my company, claiming that I had agreed verbally, which is not true.

I have also requested them to terminate the UCC filing, but they have not complied. Furthermore, it seems that many of the positive reviews for FleetSmart are fake, created to mislead potential customers.

If this issue cannot be resolved, my next step will be to pursue legal action. I strongly advise others to be cautious and avoid engaging with them.
