Where to start… incredible experience. If you do the work!
I was struggling to target brands and market myself away from the shop for events, shoots and be a name within the industry not just local.
Within my first 2 weeks of signing up I had a partnership with a brand that is close to my heart. It was one I wore everyday. The way I see it if you’re passionate about something it’s 9 times out of 10 going to work. I understood the culture, the brand and the image. I am still in partnership with them and working alongside - probably the highlight of my career.
The guidance I received for targeting brands and being taken seriously was all from JJ, I now deal with all communication.
I went on to cut Monka, a worldwide DJ for Session styling & photo shoot. A great experience and a fantastic opportunity for me and my career, if you are good at delivering under pressure this route is for you. I went up again for a more casual meet and a great connection made.
3 day wedding leading the men’s team at one of the most prestigious weddings of the year. An incredible day, high pressure but special. Again delivering on a deadline.
My social media reach has gone from 74.4k to a consistent 390k monthly and growing.
This came from my own initiative and JJ’s guidance, I ticked off everything he set out and more.
If that wasn’t enough… I have gone on to sign up for another 3-6 months. Let’s see what we will be writing up this time around! We are moving onto phase 2 which I’m excited for we have huge plans and if we can achieve that in 3-6 months what can we do in almost a year together.
I have also got an international show at pro beauty main stage in Mumbai late this month. I will be judging the barber competition at the same event.
If you want bigger, better and a personal mentor that pushes you and promotes you this is the route for you.
If you want someone who’s going to do it all for you and hand it all on a plate this isn’t for you. Be ready to invest in yourself.
There are some areas where I thought JJ will do that or he’ll sort this and no he didn’t. It’s on you but the guidance is there to support you with certain things I.e. communicating with VIP’s or fancy emails to brands whilst creating a rapport. He can get you in the door but you have to close it is the best way to explain it.

"He can get you in the door but you have to close it" is the most accurate description of this programme anyone has written, including me. I'm going to borrow it.
For anyone reading, what Tom describes is the mechanism, so it's worth being precise about it. He'd followed that brand for years and couldn't get near them. In a weekly one-to-one we built a targeting approach and applied it — and the brand approached him. We turned that message into a business proposal and then a first meeting, which I sat in on. That was the last time I was in the room. Tom has run the relationship himself ever since, and I'm only ever cc'd.
That's the whole point. Not an introduction you rent for the length of a programme, but a way of working you keep afterwards.
You're right that there are things I won't do for you. I'll show you how to write to a VIP, how to build rapport with a brand, how to prepare for a stage and hold an audience. I won't send the email for you.
