This was our first face-to-face meeting after GSI Wealth Management had become our financial advisers. We were welcomed in a courteous and friendly manner. The meeting was conducted in such a way that we both felt comfortable and at ease. The information and advice given was clear and relevant. Wanted to use their financial services…
Wanted to use their financial services based on family recommendation. Initial in person meeting was good, followed up some months later (down to my circumstances changing), to which I was then referred to a different handler who said to leave my situation in their hands, offered complimentary assessments as part of the service given wealth management in the family and future investment prospect, said starting the process would take some time so would be in touch after a month or so. I left it 2 months and heard nothing. Then followed up and the handler had done no work, assumed that he was waiting to hear from me?! The instruction was clear, I was assured all was in hand. Anyway, after missing out on months of gains, the conversation was picked back up, retracting the offer of complimentary assessments, and basically told me to conduct the work on withdrawing bonds myself and get back in touch when I have the cash to invest.
Seemed to know what he was talking about, but was lazy. I wanted an advisor who would work with me through the rough and smooth, not just pick up the ‘perfect’ case.
I asked outright if I’m not their sort of customer, because it’s fine if not! I’d rather just be told that rather than be strung along for months, but he assured I was. Not the impression I got at all.

It goes without saying that this is a disappointing read and not characteristic of our business ethics or the levels of service we strive to provide.
I can see there were lengthy ties in your interaction with us, not necessarily of your own fault and for that I apologise, it is part of a process we have changed in recent weeks and will hopefully be fully operational by Feb 1 next year.
That said, it is not a policy of our business to change the way we work (or charge) as you suggest above, and it certainly isn’t part of our business operations to inform clients (potential or current) that they must perform work themselves. There are times when that is suggested, normally as an execution only instruction would be more beneficial or for time and/or cost efficiencies on the client side.
We cannot determine if that is the case here, or if the adviser is ‘lazy’, as the related parties to this are away until next year. We will continue this investigation though and inform you privately.
In the meantime, should you wish to work with us, and we understand any desire not to, we would be happy to connect you to another planner and have them guide you.

In general I am happy with the service from GSI however I have ranked only 3 stars here because a recent withdrawal took 24 days from request to funds arriving. This is too long in my opinion when the stated time is between 10 and 15 days.
