Having lost money invested with Woodford

Having lost money invested with Woodford I was contacted by Harcus Parker suggesting they were preparing a group action to seek compensation for investors on a "No win no fee basis". Compensation was eventually paid, but this was completely separate from any action by Harcus Parker. Despite having no direct influence I was then presented with an invoice for in the region of 60% of the final amount paid out.
1. They contacted me and offered "No win no fee"
2. They "won" nothing!
3. They still presented invoice.
DO NOT TRUST these "ambulance chasing" sharks!!!
They only get 1 star because it's not possible to leave less.

Majority of compensation lost to fees

My experience with Harcus Parker in relation to the Woodford investment scandal has been deeply disappointing and has left me feeling misled and financially worse off.

Despite years of involvement, the case never progressed to court. Nevertheless, I have been charged substantial fees for work that, from a client’s perspective, delivered no meaningful outcome. What is particularly hard to accept is that the majority of my compensation has been taken in fees, leaving me questioning how this can be justified given the lack of a court hearing or successful resolution.

Throughout the process, expectations were raised that meaningful action would be taken, yet the end result was minimal benefit to investors like myself while Harcus Parker still received the lion’s share of the money recovered. The imbalance between what clients were led to hope for and what was ultimately delivered is stark.

As a Woodford investor seeking accountability and redress, I trusted this firm to act in my best interests. Instead, I am left feeling that the structure of the process primarily benefited the lawyers rather than the investors they claimed to represent.

I would strongly urge anyone considering Harcus Parker in similar group actions to read the small print very carefully, ask detailed questions about fees and outcomes, and consider whether the risks truly align with the potential rewards.

Do not believe the ‘no win, no fee’ lie

Do not believe the ‘no win, no fee’. I engaged their services as part of the group action in regard to the Woodford litigation. I was compensated a small amount (£82) after the FCA directed it. Harcus Parker had nothing to do with the compensation received and yet decided this represented a ‘win’ and therefore they are looking to charge all investors who engaged their services. They are now issuing an invoice for £49 which is 60% of the compensation received and they had absolutely no impact on the issuance of.

This is the absolute worst and contemptible of law firms - others firms have decided not to pursue fees from those who engaged their services on the basis that pursuing investors who already lost significant sums was unethical and that the case was not a ‘win’ in the ethical sense.

Never engage the services of Harcus Parker - they care only about fees even when they aren’t owed with not a shred of moral fibre. How this firm is allowed to exist is beyond comprehension.

I was also involved in the Woodford…

I was also involved in the Woodford claim with Harcus Parker and I will never ever trust these ambulance chasers again. They claimed this was a 'no win no fee' case but it isn't. They failed to win but, after the case was dismissed in the court, they still sent me an invoice to claim their fees. Which amounted to 2/3rds of the paltry sun I received. Other companies waived their fees but not HP.
I tried to email them three times to the address they give but never received the courtesy of a reply.
So, having lost around £50k to Woodford, from the paltry £2.2k the court awarded me, HP has taken £1.4k.
So I am left with £800 which was supposed to be my pension nest egg.
You are warned, never trust these people again !!

Following the HP response, what's the point of contacting you. I've tried THREE times and you haven't bothered responding. You have my details, just look them up in your system, so you contact me.

So I emailed them again after their comment here and guess what, no response.
I would seriously suggest avoiding this company like the plague.

Paying more than received.

After expressing interest having lost money due to Woodford going broke, I filled in some details with harcus parker. Seeing fees changed my mind and went with Leigh Day. They joined together anyway, received a pittance in compensation and paid Leigh Day. No I am getting harassed by this firm for 60% of what is left. They are sharks preying on those who have already lost out, it can't be legal. Have written to the financial ombudsman.

Woodford claim !!!
I will never deal with Harcus Parker again, claiming a ‘no fee no win case’ but even when not winning directly for me wanted 2/3 of the payout that everyone received. You are warned !!

Claimed to be dealing with Woodford for me, but did nothing and charged me all the money I recovered, and some was the cost of insurance (which they took out to protect their fees!)

The Woodford misery continues courtesy of Harcus Parker

Despite not being successful in achieving any settlement from Woodford and Link Fund Solutions those of us who either signed up or registered an interest with Harcus Parker are still being pursued for a contribution from the paltry sum forced upon us by the FCA .
It is clear that Harcus Parker cannot demonstrate that their intervention and representations to the court resulted in any payment to the unfortunate victims of the Woodford debacle.
Despite this , due to the weasel words they buried in their terms of their" no win no fee " scheme, described as a damage based agreement they claim that we victims owe them money , in fact most of the ridiculous sum we were forced to accept.
Avoid this company or regret it !

AVOID! Try to take your money for doing nothing

Stay away from this firm, otherwise you will regret it. I pulled out of Harcus Parker’s Woodford claim well before their non-settlement “outcome”, yet they have still tried to pursue fees from me. Their “no win, no fee” setup and communications are extremely misleading, and the whole thing has been a trap rather than help for investors.

Their conduct as deeply questionable at best. They also failed to delete my personal data when I requested this several months ago, which has made me seriously concerned about how they handle client information.

I’m seriously considering complaints to the Legal Ombudsman, the SRA, and the ICO, and I would encourage anyone else with similar experiences to consider doing the same.

Shocking customer service

Registered with them and Leigh Day regarding Woodford Claim and despite Harcus Parker confirming they had joined forces with Leigh Day and only one payment due they have continued to chase me for payment despite me paying Leigh Day.

I have contacted them on numerous times to tell them but seems to make no difference.

Avoid this firm

Avoid this firm - they sold a no win no fee arrangement to Woodford investors and won zero. Despite this they invoice fees which amount to a high percentage of compensation negotiated by the FCA and invoice additional costs. Disreputable and dishonest.

Not a fair No Win No Fee result

In the Woodford fund wind-up they failed to read the direction of settlement and organisations involved (FCA).
Their claimed 'win' to enable them to charge costs from those represented was actually a shareholder of the FCA redress.
I don't feel this is true NWNF

Despicable Behaviour

I joined the class action with Harcus Parker for redress from the Woodford catastrophe which to cut a long story short was not heard in court and instead redress was made via FCA. I received the compensation which was a small fraction of what was lost and was very surprised to receive a bill from Harcus Parker for almost the complete amount of the compensation. Despite playing no part in the compensation received via the FCA they wanted their cut.

As the compensation is paid directly into the pension I will need to pay tax to withdraw the monies if I were to pay their fee which would mean it costing MORE than the compensation received to make payment.

I believe there were three companies involved in NWNF claims and one has quite rightly dropped its claim for fees saying that 'Woodford investors have been through enough' but it seems Harcus Parker intend to continue.

This despite when approached by The Times in 2024 it was noted: " Harcus Parker was approached for comment. A source indicated that clients would not be pursued for the costs if they refused to pay."

Immoral behaviour!

It's well documented in other reviews that this company are seeking to be paid most of the paltry compensation Woodford investors were paid under the FCA offer as fees. Unbelievable that they would seek to be paid for a deal they had zero involvement in and indeed tried very hard to have withdrawn. However well protected they may be through the small print of their contract there is no question that their behaviour is utterly immoral.

Harcus Parker also known as ‘Hocus Pocus’…

Decided to use ‘Hocus Pocus’ (definition- an illusion or a meaningless distraction that tricks you in some way) in a no win no fee group action after loosing money in the Woodford fund debacle. Before the matter got to court the FCA stepped in and told the receivers to compensate clients. As a result I received a small portion of my original investment. This ‘compensation’ was not as a result of work done by ‘Hocus Pocus’ yet to add insult to injury they are now chasing me for payment!!!
How does that work?
I understand lots of other investors have found themselves in the same position and are receiving demands for payment. However it would appear other law firms involved in the same legal case have said they will not chase investors for payment because quote - ‘they (Woodford investor’s) have been through enough’.
This tells you all you need know about ‘Hocus Pocus’ they aren’t there to look after your interests, they are in business to make themselves money.
Avoid at all costs!!!

A very poor experience - ripoff!

A very poor experience. what a ripoff. this will be the first and last time I ever do a group claim. don't bother - they got me flumpence and then had the audacity to take a huge chunk of that flumpence with fees galore!

Oh, Harcus Parker, you absolute legends of legal larceny! Picture this: I’m knee-deep in the Woodford Equity Income Fund fiasco – you know, that glorious bonfire where Neil Woodford torched billions in investor cash faster than a vegan at a barbecue. I signed up with these fine folks under their shiny “no win, no fee” banner, dreaming of justice served with a side of compensation. Fast-forward through the endless emails, the “we’re on it” updates that read like bad haiku, and suddenly – plot twist! – a settlement drops out of the sky. Not because Harcus Parker stormed the courts like avenging angels, mind you. Nope. It was agreed without them, in some backroom FCA huddle where the grown-ups finally admitted, “Oops, we kinda wrecked your retirement.”
So, what do I get? A paltry third of my own money back, while Harcus Parker swoops in like seagulls on chips and devours two-thirds for “services rendered.” Services? You mean the service of forwarding my emails to a paralegal named Chad who probably moonlights as a TikTok lawyer? I mean, come on – how do you slap a “no win” on a fee when there was literally no win to begin with? It’s like hiring a personal trainer who shows up, hands you a dumbbell, then charges you 66% of your gym gains because “I inspired you to lift it yourself.”
If Harcus Parker were a magic trick, it’d be the one where the rabbit eats the hat and your wallet. Five years of my life, chasing shadows in the Woodford wreckage, and they treat me like an ATM with a sob story. Avoid like the plague – or better yet, like a Woodford prospectus. One star, because zero would just be too generous.

Be careful this is a real dodgy outfit, and as claims processors go the worst. I suspect its just a data phishing site because you fill in reams of stuff and get nothing back beyond saying thank you.

Do not use these people Damon Parker …

Do not use these people five years ago the contacted my wife about mis selling of a property in the hands of landmark mortgages for there interest hike from Northern rock they said they would get the interest back that I over paid the they have been sitting on these claims now there telling me that the case is to old they cannot take a clam over 4 years old I would not mind it was there owner Damon Parker that first spoke with my wife telling her that they would work with us he wants to read the email he is welcome
