Absolutely horrible experience with this website. Complete negligence shown towards the integrity of our booking. It was as if the booking is accepted on the basis that they might let you stay. Our family of 9 had booked a villa in August for a one week long stay in Carvoeiro, Portugal. Flights booked shortly after. It was only until we had just happened to be looking at the villa over dinner when we checked the ‘manage my booking’ option to find that it had been CANCELLED. No email, no communication, nothing. Booking was cancelled on 12th September, just over a month after it was placed with no explanation as to why it was cancelled. We have now been left in the position of searching for other accommodation on our exact dates with short notice and no option to change flights without financial loss. Urge anyone to steer clear of this site especially as the deposit paid was only 85% returned, which seems to be a common trend. Please learn from our mistake and book from a reputable site.

Confusing Pricing
Be wary that the currency shown may not be your local currency, especially if you happen to use the dollar ($) as this means it is USD, not AUD/CAD/NZD. This is unclear on the website. There is only a choice to display pricing in USD/Euro/GBP/CHF and it is all the way down in the footer of the website.
I paid AU$600 for a booking that I thought would only cost me AU$400. When I was initially charged, the owner said the extra $200 was a refundable 'damage deposit'. Clearly they are confused too.

Booked a stay in Scranton Pa. They would not give me the address after making deposit. Requested address several times … they would only agree to give me the actual address the day of arrival. Yeah…Ok. Host was Karmil Q and Infinite Lux & Comfort Group, LLC. Like I said . Yeah …ok.

THEIR SUPPORT ASSURED ME THAT EVERYTHING WOULD BE ALRIGHT WHEN I WAS SWIPING THE CARD
OWNER OF THE APARTMENT ALSO CONFIRMED THE BOOKING AND CONFIRMED THAT ALL THE DETAILS WERE CORRECTLY WRITTEN IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE APARTMENT!
SUDDENLY AFTER 1 MONTH AND HALF I SEE THAT OWNER HAS CHANGED THE PICTURES OF THE APARTMENT AND TRIES TO CHANGE THE DATES OF MY STAY WHICH I HAVE DECLINED AND I FOUND OUT JUST BY ACCIDENTALY SEEING AN EMAIL THAT HE WAS TRYING TO CHANGE THE DATES WHICH MEANS THAT IF I HAD NOT SEEN THE EMAIL IT WOULD AUTOMATICALLY BE CONFIRMED AND PROBABLY I WOULD NOT EVEN RECEIVE A REFUND!
SUPPORT CALLED ME AROUN 6-7 TIMES TO ASSURE ME THAT EVERYTHING WOULD BE FINE AND I WOULD NOT STAY WITHOUT APARTMENT ON BOOKED DATES I HAVE RECORDED HOW ONE OF THEIR SUPPORT TOLD ME THAT THEY GUARANTEE THAT I WOULD NOT STAY HOMELESS ON THOSE DATES AND THEY WOULD 100% DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
NOW WHAT THEY DID IS THAT THEY HAVE JUST CANCELLED MY BOOKING AND REFUNDING ME THE SAME AMOUNT WHICH I USED TO BOOK ALMOST 2 MONTHS AGO, NOW PRICES ARE 2-3 TIMES HIGHER AND I CAN NOT BOOK ANOTHER ACCOMODATION BECAUSE IT"S SIMPLY OUT OF MY BUDGET!

Ridiculous 6 day week booking system!
Having used Holiday lettings for many years I now find that having spoken on the phone with numerous representatives, according to their employees, It is only possible to advertise for weekly lets based on the first week being from Saturday to Saturday , the following week only bookable from the Sunday (not Saturday as the Saturday date is blocked on their calendar) and ongoing can only advertise 6 nights/week commencing Sunday as their prices section cannot accept continuous 7 night adverts (if a guest leaves on Saturday it is impossible to advertise the following week from Saturday but Sunday)!!. Absolutely ridiculous!
Surely there must be someone at Holiday Lettings who can sort their system to work correctly?

If you are searching for a property and enter "Central Whitby" in the search you are overwhelmed with properties from as far as Scarborough, not simply Whitby. Used to be a great search engine but seems they have lost control

Booked a home in Pensacola Florida. Was asked to also send a $200 deposit via Zelle. The booking was cancelled and the representative is now ghosting me. Thankfully I charged this on a credit card which I assume I will get my money back. However I also assume I am losing my $200 deposit. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH TRIPADVISOR or HOLIDAY LETTINGS. I will be filing a police report.
AVOID - Fraudulent hosts and poor protection for customers
Part of TripAdvisor yet promote fraudulent activity. Part of a group booking where the host told us the property was no longer available due to flood damage at very short notice, holidaylettings and Travelnest have failed to refund us despite screenshots of the conversation with the host Olu where it is clearly stated we should get a full refund and the property is not available. Shocking standards which will be reported.
Update the data base

At the 24 hour mark I was notified that the owner had not approved my booking. I called the help line and was told that the owner had not been active since 2019. The guy tried to find another place but his searches kept getting us further from our destination. While he was looking, I found a place on another site.
Lethal Icmeler Villa
Booked a villa in Icmeler(Turkey) through Holiday Lettings. All the reviews for the villa were 5 star which gave me some confidence when booking. Holiday Lettings were the booking agents. Once we got to the villa our hearts sank, we spent the first day cleaning the place, the pictures on the Holiday Lettings website are from about 5 years ago when everything looked new and clean in the villa and the area outside it. The main dangerous points inside and outside the villa which I have tried to bring to the attention of HL we’re just brushed aside and they have taken the side of the owner. The main points are that the electrical system is extremely dangerous and also the storage of the pool treatment granules(Chlorine) are easily accessible for children to access. TRIPADVISOR own Holiday Lettings and they should be ashamed that this property is being advertised on their website
The booking went well
The booking went well, without difficulty. We had emailed location descriptions, which were accurate, and the chalet on Anglesey was as described. Clean, tidy and in a very quiet location. Our hosts could not have been more helpful, and were always available when we needed them (for guidance etc.) I would consider using them again, and would recomend the chalet as a good choice
Absolutely abysmal
Absolutely abysmal. I rang about a villa they had in Spain to double check availability, I was told it was definitely available so I paid £3750, less than 1 hour later I was informed by email that it wasn't available. 10 days later and still no refund. Customer service is less than useless. We needed to book another villa but couldn't because they had our money. They rang and offered a suitable equivalent, it was 11 bedrooms and cost £16,500. Morons. I will 100% definitely not use these clowns again. They have absolutely no clue if a property is booked or not, they just take your money and hope for the best. If you have limited time and limited funds STEER CLEAR.
Avoid TripAdvisor Rentals
I was misled by TripAdvisor into starting to create a listing on the holiday rentals sub-site. I then realised it wasn't a listing but a booking agency agreement. But the account had already been created at that point. Virtually impossible to cancel the account or send a message. Should be the easiest thing possible. Wouldn't trust any organisation with minimal human contact with valuable holiday bookings. And no, I wouldn't book through them either. Cancel my account or I will formally complain to the ICO.
Badly Misrepresented
The apartment we had booked was grossly misrepresented and was so awful we had to move out. We were told that our payment was protected but when we tried to claim they said because we had stayed in the apartment for 1 night we couldn't claim! If we had known this we would have booked the 2nd apartment through airbnb!
Bad Experience in Paris
We booked the apt BR29522680 on St Louis En L’Isle in good faith for long-anticipated holiday with adult daughters. The description of bathroom facilities was wrong. We were most uncomfortable and disappointed. There were other problems as well. There is apparently no vetting with Holiday Lettings or Trip Advisor.
Refund
Owner has not accepted after my booking the accommodation through Holiday Lettings. I fed up with my follow up, to get my refund amount £448.50. But no response from holiday lettings. There is No contact number provided to communicate with Holiday lettings. As per their cancellation policy, I suppose to get my refund within 24 hrs. No update even after 12 days regarding my refund.

Made a holiday rental booking and found their T&Cs around cancellations and refunds are really restrictive. You are required to make a complete payment before being able to make a cancellation without losing your deposit. Even on refund they then sting you for the booking fee, which it appears they want a full fee if you book or not.
Anyway hard to recommend given the nonexistent support and shoddy cancellation policies.

I booked an apartment in Spain through them, paid had confirmation, booking number and what seemed to be an email from the owner saying thankyou for your booking. A couple of weeks prior to the holiday I asked the owner a question through there messaging page, i had no response a week later so I messaged again, no reply after another week. So now it was only a week until the holiday and I was getting worried so I messaged the owner through his Facebook messenger. I received a reply from him saying that it was impossible that I have booked his apartment as he doesn’t even list it on holiday lettings and it’s already booked for those dates for someone else through Air bnb, which he said was the only site he lists his apartment on. Obviously I then called holiday lettings explaining all this and asking what I was to do now as I had flights ect booked but nowhere to stay. They passed the blame onto the owner, but I couldn’t see how it could be as he did not even list on there. They sent me links to other property’s which were over double the original price I paid and I was expected to pay the difference which just wasn’t possible for me. I looked myself on there site and found a couple of apartments that seemed to be available on the calendar to book but I emailed them to ask first, each one replied that they weren’t available for those dates! So oblivious holiday lettings arn’t updating the calendars and letting people book for unavailable properties. So I asked for a refund. They then told me that I’d get my refund after the owner cancelled, which I tried to explain that he probably couldn’t cancel as it wasn’t his listing. I had to call several times getting the same response from them until I emailed screenshots of the messages between me and the owner and a screenshot of there policy that states that if a property isn’t available that they would refund immediately. It wasn’t until after all this that they processed my refund. I then had to look elsewhere for a property but due to it being last minute it cost me quite a bit more. This whole experience left me extremely stressed and out of pocket and this is not what you want when your about to go on holiday.
