I paid $59 to be a sitter a week ago through making a bank deposit.

Their website said the next steps were that I would receive an email. This email never arrived so I rang them today to ask what the next steps were.

I was told that I had to send them various documents for verification. I asked about the missing email and the person said she would let IT know. She then said they would need to know what search engine I was using.

At this point I started thinking this was a scam. Why would IT need to know what search engine I used for a missing email? I asked for a refund back and she said there were no refunds. Only when I said I would report them to the New Zealand Consumer programme Fair Go did she reluctantly agree to give me a refund.

Too many red flags here.

Easy process, reasonable price, great communication!!

As a first time user found very helpful and friendly staff by phone especially when working through some oddities on the website.

Two months in advance they organised a house sitter for us. We selected the bloke because we knew him and his wife. Unfortunately with a couple of weeks to go his wife had to return to the UK for family reasons, the situation got worse so Dave had to go over as well so we had no house sitter. This is where The House Sitting Company showed their worth; our account was credited, the job was re-advertised and a good bloke was found and we only got charged the original amount. Things can go wrong and it is no bodies fault but full marks for when the situation is quickly remedied.

Because the Housesitter who came was so good I can’t comment on how they would handle something going wrong. But my experience in life leads me to believe that good planning and clear thinking ahead of time lead to this outcome.

We only had a few house sitters apply to our request but we got the perfect fit for our home and furbabies. The information that you have send through in the beginning to prepare us to be a housesitter. This includes the interview, the encouragement and guiding till the end of the housesit. The whole process gave us great confidence in how to approach and how to do it. Made a great difference to how to present ourselves and the company. The questionnaire that the homeowner had to fill in was a great source to return to for info.

Great experience for a new user of the service. We had our dog cared for by the sitter and they provided us with regular updates on his time with them via text etc.

It was a easy, quick & efficient experience with good result. Our fur babies got to stay at home well cared for. Also house was left clean & tidy which our children never managed.
