Outstanding specialist medical care at remarkably modest cost…
I have just been discharged from the International Hospital for Urology and Nephrology in Sheikh Zayed, Cairo, following admission for a serious urological infection.
I cannot speak highly enough of my experience.
I arrived with acute epididymo-orchitis, considerable pain and swelling, and some very alarming blood results: CRP of 218.7 mg/L and a white blood cell count of 22,000. Following thorough investigations, including ultrasound and Doppler imaging, I was admitted for intravenous antibiotic treatment.
The response was remarkably rapid. Within a few days, my white blood cell count had returned to normal, CRP had fallen by more than 60%, and my pain had substantially subsided.
I am not medically qualified to judge the technical competence of the physicians, but I was deeply impressed by their professionalism, the thoroughness of their investigations and the involvement of senior consultants in my treatment.
The nursing staff were attentive, kind and eager to help. Whenever I raised a concern or made a suggestion, the response was courteous and generally very prompt. There were some shortcomings in the accommodation and facilities, but nothing that diminished my overall appreciation of the hospital.
The rooms are humble rather than luxurious, but perfectly acceptable. The food was good, and the staff went out of their way to make me comfortable.
Perhaps most remarkably, the entire episode of care — including pre-admission investigations, specialist consultations, intravenous treatment, medications, consumables, accommodation and meals — cost approximately EGP 23,800.
That represents extraordinary value for the treatment I received.
I have lived in Egypt for more than thirty years and have considerable experience of its medical facilities. I would unhesitatingly recommend this hospital to anyone requiring specialist urological care, including foreign visitors who may find themselves facing a frightening medical emergency in an unfamiliar country.
My sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and supporting staff. Their professionalism and kindness made a difficult experience considerably easier.
An excellent specialist hospital, and one that deserves wider recognition.
