Easily my favorite e-newsletter of all time

I'm shocked that anyone has anything bad to say about InHerSight! (Looking at the lower reviews, they seem very spam-y anyway, but it is such a testament to this company that each one is answered in a factual and positive way, regardless of the tone the reviewer took.)

I think I stumbled across this site on Facebook maybe a year or so ago, but I've loved getting every email since! I've stayed a subscriber for so long because I find the content extremely relevant, upbeat, authentic, actionable, and uplifting. I've never gotten so much out of an e-newsletter. I honestly feel like InHerSight is probably the best e-newsletter I've ever read.

Heaven-sent

At a time when I decided to leave my job in search of a position that would provide me with everything that would make ME happy, I found InHerSight, full of articles to market myself and spruce up my resume. It was heaven sent and I continue to use them to keep current and find empowering articles for women and the workforce. Keep up the great work!

Unreliable and Misleading Reviews-Shame on You!

I’m sorry to inform everyone that this company seems to be a fraud. I am an employment lawyer who represents hundreds of women who were victims of sexual assault, sexual harassment and gender/pregnancy discrimination at work. This company had a great idea to help women in the workplace. But they went about it in the wrong way. They seem to have either purchased, stolen or copied reviews from other websites that don’t care about women’s rights. These reviews are not reliable at all. They should start over and only allow their own customers to leave reviews and only allow them to leave reviews once, not multiple times. What this company is doing seems to be misleading women into a false sense of security. Shame on you!

By the way, the company confirmed that they allow each person to leave up to 16 reviews each!!! That means a company may look like they have 16 positive reviews even though all reviews were provided by the same person!
“In other words, a company that has seven participants has the potential to have 112 ratings contributing to their scores.” And worst of all, they hide the truth from women. A woman looking for a company that treats women with respect, won’t even know that all of the reviews may have been left by one person! Shame on you!

Hello, Eric! Thanks for leaving a review -- your concern for women in the workforce is admirable.

With a database of over 100,000 women-rated companies, we are happy to report that we have never "purchased, stolen, copied," or otherwise sourced ratings or reviews from anywhere but our own users on our own platform. We're very proud of the fact that all of our ratings data belongs to us and was gathered by us and us alone, so unfortunately it seems you've been misinformed somewhere along the way.

As we explained in our email correspondence with you a few months ago, when a participant rates a company they are able to provide ratings for up to 16 different categories -- paid time off, company responsiveness, parental leave, overall satisfaction, etc. All of those ratings are considered when calculating the company's top-level scores.

In other words, a company that has 7 participants has the potential to have 112 category ratings contributing to their top-level scores. We keep the number of participants hidden until it crosses a certain threshold in order to protect the anonymity of our participants, especially those at smaller companies and those who could face backlash for their contributions.

The number of participants (or the fact that it has not yet crossed the safety threshold if that's the case) is clearly marked on our company profiles right above where the scores and ratings are displayed.

Participants are also allowed to leave comments with their ratings, but a majority do not.

As for repeat rating, things can improve or get worse at a company over time, so we do allow women to re-rate their employers, but only after a certain amount of time has passed.

Once again, thank you for your concern for women in the workplace. We're sorry that you seem to have received incorrect information about how we collect our ratings. Hopefully this helps clear some of those misconceptions up.

Allows users to spam reviews every 30 days of an employer. This allows one person to diminish the contributions of an entire organization.

Allows oppressive employers to pay to…

Allows oppressive employers to pay to remove negative reviews of their company, which means women dont really know the full story of their employer - which this website purports to reveal.

How is this helpful?

So far, this seems like a great way for women to research jobs at companies that help them succeed but there's almost no jobs available, so the site is basically useless.
