Izi Peru - Tours & Excursions Reviews 10

IZI Peru showed us nice photos of a lodge during the sales process (Jan 2026). We paid USD 365 per person for a 4-day/3-night tour to Tambopata based on that expectation.
Upon arrival, we were taken to a completely different category of accommodation, which after some research was listed for around half the price of the one offered. A scam.
Their defense? "You changed phone numbers, so we processed you as a new customer." They never disclosed that the lodge shown might be swapped for a much cheaper one. I paid more than the actual value of the lodge I received.
Formal complaint has been filed with INDECOPI (Peru's consumer protection agency). Book with caution: their photos are misleading.

We booked the 4-day Amazon Expedition from Iquitos.

Initially, we were concerned because we had read a few reviews that described this as a scam or "bait and switch". We reached out to IZI Peru and they reassured us that the itinerary would go ahead as planned, and that other customers had had a negative experience due to the river being flooded.

Sure enough, the expedition did go broadly as advertised, except that the activities happened in a different order (which they tell you in the small print). The way it works is they have customers arriving at the camp on a rolling basis, and each day they take groups out on excursions based on who has done what already.

It's worth noting that despite booking through IZI Peru, the tour was actually run by a company called "Amazon Aventour Expeditions", so I guess IZI Peru just subcontracts the tours to a different company?

The camp itself is called "Maniti Lodge". The food is a bit basic and the lodges are not particularly luxurious, but the pool was nice and well-maintained. On our first night we found a bat in our room, but thankfully our guide was quick to remove it!

Our guide Arci was absolutely brilliant - super helpful and cheerful from start to finish. He honestly made the experience for us.

The daily excursions were varied, and some were definitely more exciting than others. My personal favourite was feeding the monkeys, but be warned, the next day a guy got bitten by a monkey and had to be taken to hospital! Apparently the monkeys are checked by a vet every month so the risk of rabies is small, but maybe don't feed the monkeys if you're worried about that.

Booked a 2-day tour to the Amazon with Iziperu. Got no information in advance about anything, so we expected the tour that was described on their homepage Where we booked it.
However when we arrived, the tour was completely different. When we asked our guide Richard about the missing things from the itinerary, he said that they were never part of the tour and asked us to complain to Iziperu.
3 groups on our tour booked from Iziperu and all of us were very upset.
Our guide then offered us to do one of the many activities from the Iziperu itinerary that was supposed to be included (Monkey Island) for an extra cost of 250 soles per person.
We paid this, to get the experience that iziperu promised us.

As we were on this tour, we wrote to Iziperu on Whatsapp and tried to get a refund of the 250 soles per person.
They told us a million excuses, but agreed to look into our case.
One week later we still had no reply.
They then asked us to e-mail their “admins”
From this we got more excuses saying that they gave us a new itinerary days before the tour (Not true, they never gave any additional information). They also accused us of booking from a “third-party” and doing this tour when it was not safe.
The truth is that we booked this tour from THEIR guide Richard, who said it was completely safe.

Overall this might be the worst company i ever booked a tour from. They will give you something completely different from what you booked and then try to blame you for everything.

We tried to write back to them to reach a solution, but they just ignore the e-mail we sent days ago.
Do NOT book here!

We have a very nice time, the guide was english speaker, and all the staff was amazing.

Very good experience with Izi Peru, they were able to quickly answer my questions and in the end I really enjoyed my experience.
