Despicable company

We note that previous reviews relating to this matter have been posted under different names, including Ka, A I, D, David, Alex Wo, Wai S and Alexander Wong.
As stated in our previous response, we respectfully disagree with your account of events. The item supplied was new and unused. A return collection was arranged and attended by our representative; however, during inspection, condition issues were identified that were not consistent with the condition in which the item had originally been supplied.
For this reason, the return could not be accepted in the condition presented at the collection appointment.
We have retained records relating to this transaction and remain willing to resolve the matter through the appropriate channels.

Poor Customer Support

Thank you for your reply.

As mentioned in my original review, this item was a Christmas present.
As we have already explained, the power sometimes cut off and sometimes does not cut off. If it were only for short use, we could tolerate it, but not for extended periods. That is why we contacted your customer service for assistance, within a guarantee period.

Please refer our email below we sent to you last week.

"Of course, we have been using the cooker for the past few months, and we have encountered the electrical connection problems sporadically. We intend to keep the cooker for a long time, and we feel that this problem with the connection cannot be tolerated continually. "

Regarding the call‑out, you informed us as follows.

"A call-out inspection service at your address (£30), for a basic visual inspection."

We were advised to pay a call‑out charge for an issue that falls within the one‑year guarantee period for the product you sold us.
As we are based in London, on 15th May, we offered to bring the cooker and the cord to your London address at no cost to you, but this offer was declined.

We kindly request that you take this matter forward and help us reach a proper resolution rather than creating further delays. All we are asking for is the correct cord. We simply want to use this rice cooker reliably for a long time.

It may also be helpful for future customers if you could include photos of the cord on your website, so people know exactly what they will receive.

We look forward to hearing from you and resolving this issue promptly. As mentioned, our only request is a cord that fits properly and does not lose power during cooking.

We would greatly appreciate your support.

My friend bought me a Zojirushi Rice Cooker NS‑ZAQ10 Japanese made, from Japan Plaza as a Christmas gift. When I first used it in January 2026, I noticed that the power cord does not connect well into the cooker. The connection is loose, unstable, and causes the cooker to lose power sometimes, in the middle of cooking. The plug holes on the supplied cord appear too large for the cooker’s socket, not making a proper connection for a power.

I reported this to Japan Plaza’s Customer Service team (Great Portland Street, London) and provided clear photos and videos, as requested by them, showing the defective connection. Despite the product being well within its one‑year guarantee, they refused to replace the faulty cord they supplied. Instead, they asked me to pay for a new cable + shipping as a replacement.

This is extremely disappointing. A one‑year guarantee should cover a manufacturing or compatibility fault, especially one involving electrical safety. Japan Plaza’s refusal to take responsibility has left us feeling let down, and we will continue to pursue a proper resolution.

All we are requesting is a safe, compatible power cord for the cooker we were sold.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with your experience.

For clarification, the order was originally placed in 1 November 2025, and the issue was first reported to us on 10 May 2026, more than seven months after purchase and after the product had been in use for a period of time.

Upon reviewing the photos and videos provided, we noted that the power cord connector shown appeared different from the original specification of the Zojirushi cord supplied with this model. As we explained in our correspondence, without a physical inspection we were unfortunately unable to determine whether the issue related to the power cord, the appliance connection point, or general wear/connection loosening over time.

We would also like to clarify that we did not refuse assistance. We offered the following options in order to help progress the matter:

• A call-out inspection service at your address
• Assistance with ordering a replacement power cord

We always aim to assist customers fairly and professionally and remain happy to help further should you wish to proceed with either of the options previously offered.

Ordering was easy and they were very quick in responding to any questions regarding delivery . Rice cooked arrived without any issues .. All good & thank you.

The delivery was a couple of days delay…

The delivery was a couple of days delay but it was due to Easter season so it wasn’t their issue. And when I contacted them by an email, they immediately replied even it was on the weekend. I am very happy with my purchase! If someone wanted to purchase good quality Japanese rice cooker, I will definitely recommend this company.

I have purchased from Japan Plaza on 3 occasions and have no complaints, delivery to the UK can be slow but products have been well packed.

Misleading Name & Problematic Returns&Refund

Do not buy from this trader unless 100% sure no returns. Return & Refund procedure is problematic! In fact, increasingly angry by their open-ended reply.
1. Trading name is misleading - easily confused with Plaza Japan's 5 star rating. Not a Japanese company. I placed the order without reading their pages long return & refund policy because of Japanese' positive reputation in business.
2. 'Made in Japan' products are cheap quality. Photos & descriptions do not fully reflects the sizes and quality.
3. Beware only offer 7 days return policy, and credit card charges will be deducted, which should not be customers' responsibility. Their return policy is not legal. British Consumer law for online shopping is 14 days, with full refund including delivery charges.
4. Owner is being difficult with return issue, such as, so far two exchange of emails, still no confirmation of return address, and ask for photo proof of return items, which are 7 of them. Speaking from more than 20 years of online shopping, nowadays, only rogue traders demand for photo proof.
Summary: I have learnt from avoiding 'rogue' traders, but this time was misleded by the trading name. Fortunately, the order is only worth about £35. So glad, I didn't place the order for a £300 Hiroshi rice cooker. Cant imagine how helpful Japan Plaza will be if anything goes wrong with the cooker, which imported from Hong Kong, with no local guarantee.
