I want to make people aware of a very distressing shopping experience I had at JD Sport, Albany today.
I paid for an item with my EFTPOS card and the transaction was approved. At the same time their computer rebooted itself and when I asked for a receipt I was told they couldn't give me one as there was no transaction recorded in the system. They also would not give me the goods. The money has come out of my bank, confirmed by my bank with a copy of the transaction and a letter from them to JD Sports as proof. No, they still would not budge. The bank said they have no authority to reverse the transaction and the staff in the shop said I had to wait for 24hrs to see if the transaction reversed. They wanted me to pay for it again and if the first transaction reversed then that would be settle it, and if not I have to go back into the store to ask for a refund. So in this case the customer takes ALL the risk. I am down $$$ and have no goods or receipt except for the bank transaction, which they disagree with. Certainly no customer care at that store. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told it was her day off and they had no authority to approve anything. What store has staff on who cannot sort out an issue such as this. I consider this theft. They have my money, I don't have any goods. If I left the shop with the goods without paying, that is theft, however to them it is ok to take a customer's money but withhold the goods. I was in the shop for around 2hrs trying to sort this out and now if I want to get my money back or the goods I have to go back tomorrow. Everything at my inconvenience. I think JD Sport could and should do much better than this. I have to put my trust and time into getting this sorted and yet they wouldn't give me the same in return, i.e let me have the goods and if the transaction did truly fail then contact me to go back and pay. Seems fair to me, they have my money and I don't have the goods. Shop there at your own risk. And before anyone says anything, I know there will be people out there who "enjoy" shopping there and have had good experiences, however it only takes one bad experience and how it is rectified to really determine customer service. I for one will not shop there again.

I ordered a pair of sneakers online and they came in two different sizes. I called Manukau store to see if they have any so I can drive in to exchange and explained the situation. The girl on the phone said she had my size. I drove 30 mins to get to the store only to find the box she had wrong sizes. Very disappointing experience.

Experience was stressful and time consuming BUT JD sports stepped up and were fantastic. I had to return 2 refunds and this was done with ease and very straightforward. Easy and straight forward instructions, no judgement or being on hold or diversion to another person. The serving lady at Hamilton JD sport was so empathetic and tried to help me to the extreme, great hospitality and management skills. All refunds and replacements was done within anfew days.
