Little to no live Springtails or Isopods Present
I recently ordered two live isopod tubs (25 count each) and two 8 oz springtail cultures from Josh’s Frogs. Out of the 50 isopods included in the order, only four arrived alive across both containers.
In addition, both springtail cultures arrived with no visible springtails present.
When you order live cultures, especially from a company that markets itself as a reputable supplier. you expect at least a functional shipment, not a handful of survivors and two tubs of… nothing. Losing nearly $80 because of poor packing, bad stock, or lack of quality control.

1000 banded crickets are dead
most of the 1000 banded crickets i ordered were dead at arrival, only about 20 alive

Dependable support for my dart frogs. I've been purchasing here for 10 years with no lapse in product quality, order processing and/or shipping. I received a prompt refund once when feeder flies arrived dead. The fruit fly culture mix works really well.

Cricket success
I have gotten crickets from several places now and these are easily the best. There can be hiccups in shipping beyond their control and they always make it right. Their customer service personnel are great to work with. These crickets live the longest by far of any other company as long as you take care of them. ❤️❤️
All isopods dead on arrival
2 day FedEx shipping wasnt recieved till over a week. Even though I understand this isn't there fault as it was stuck in Perrysburg OH, the isopods I received were packed nearly a month and a half ago (December 19th) as shown by the sticker on each container. All isopods were dead on a arrival and the soil was bone dry.
The grower choice alocasia was all completley withered upon arrival.

We have been ordering animals and feeders for over 2 years. Sometimes there are issues due to weather, shipping etc. Josh's frogs have always taken care of the issue quickly and with a smile. We probably spend 500 - 1000 every month between our personal and our stores inventory. Absolutely awesome customer service.

Constantly Delivering Dead Feeder Insects
I am constantly getting containers of dead feeders that my reptile has been waiting to consume for over a week of shipping and mailing (just for the record, Leopard Geckos are not supposed to go that long without food on unless in some medical emergency). If I do however get a container of live feeders, I only get a few crickets that barely move, then my reptile must wait even longer for food. They put a single heat pack with the feeders and nothing else. Not even a styrofoam layer to insulate them (at least not anymore, probably just to retain more of their profit). Might as well go visit a local pet store for some poor quality crickets at this point. In the cold, it's even worse. Maybe it's just were I live.

Their website gives unreliable delivery dates. I ordered feeders for my lizards on November 13th. When I selected my address the delivery date was shown as November 20th. Given the cold it seemed reasonable that they would ship express. We are LEAVING tonight ( the 24th) and still the package is not here. When I contacted them to let them know they replied that what pops up on their website is not reliable ?????? What ?? I would NOT have ordered these if I had known the delivery date was not reliable. Now those poor insects will die a slow death in the cold , inside the package, because no one is there to bring the package inside. Even if feeders, animals should not be tortured unnecessarily. I will not use this company again.

Don't bother, you won't know when or if you will receive anything
They state order ship times and you expect to have to be available to receive them so they don't die. Then they just don't bother to ship or send any sort of order updates saying they don't have any intention of shipping on their stated schedule

Josh's Frogs is FABULOUS! From their pets to feeders, Josh's Frogs truly delivers top quality at great prices. Everything I've gotten from them has always been top notch. The feeder insects arrive alive, shipping is fast and each package is properly packed to arrive intact and safe. Never any issues. They deliver when others fail. Our local pet shops do not have the diversity, quality and care that are a part of the Josh's Frogs experience. Every item has always been received when and how they said it would. 100% so far. This is my second year buying from them and it is always a great experience. Buy with confidence your pet (or feeder) is well taken care of and will exceed your expectations. Great company, great products, great service.
I've received too many dead bugs from…
I've received too many dead bugs from this vendor, and they like to argue fault and don't take ownership for their mistakes. I had order pinhead and 1/2 inch crickets. The 1/2 inch were too big, and the pinheads were too small, so I placed another order for 1/4 inch crickets, and they arrived the same size as the pinhead crickets. Customer service refuses to acknowledge this error and says they are correctly sized, when they are not and refuse to refund me for the item or the shipping for the dead insects arrived. If this is how they treat their customers, I cannot imagine how they treat their animals.
Worst experience
Worst experience. I got handed a box with dead bugs, HALF of a culture kit? Like what? Literally HALF OF THE PIECES OF THE KIT MISSING. Missing a plant, the ones that did arrive look like they’ve been walked on and don’t look like they’ll even survive. Wtf did I pay you guys $200+ for?? Empty containers? A bucket with no lid? Dead plants? Dead bugs? wtf kid of business are you running. Scammy at the very least. Buyer beware.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I do not recommend buying live feeders from Josh's Frogs, especially crickets. I placed my order on a Friday morning and requested for the package to be held at my local post office for pickup because of the hot weather. I emailed them before placing my order to make sure I did everything right for having it held for pickup. The cart page claimed that the crickets would be delivered by Wednesday or Thursday. They didn't even end up shipping the order until Tuesday and for some reason they shipped via Ground even though I paid about $14 for shipping, so the crickets didn't arrive until Monday the following week. They were in transit for 6 days and by the time I got them, a large portion were dead. To make matters worse, the post office had trouble communicating with me about the status of my package because Josh's Frogs neglected to put my phone number on the outside of the package for the postal workers to call me. In my opinion, Josh's Frogs does not operate their live insect shipping very professionally. This was the third time I've received a shipment from them with a significant portion the insects DOA. All of that being said, I have had great experiences buying dry goods and plants from Josh Frogs and would enthusiastically recommend them for that. And their customer service is very prompt with correcting issues. However, while their live arrival guarantee is great and all, it's not worth it to me to reach out to them for a $3 partial refund when the greater issue is that my animals still need to be fed and I have a migraine from the stress of driving and calling around all day to figure out what is going on with my package. This isn't even the first time I've ordered live insects only for them to be DOA. I personally do not find the hassle of their live insect shipping worth it, especially when there are other insect sellers online who handle it much better.
UPDATE: I bought some bags of Live Oak Leaf Litter that were supposed to be 1 gallon, but they were much less than one gallon in volume. I took a photo of a bag of their leaf litter inside of a 1 gallon freezer bag to show the size difference and wrote a review on the product page so other customers could be aware of what they would actually receive. Josh's Frogs REJECTED my review. They also rejected my review about their crickets. This has shown me that Josh's Frogs should not be trusted for any purchases at all which is a real shame because I was a long-time customer. They even tried to get this Trust Pilot review removed, but I followed up with receipts as proof. I'm updating this review to one star. Don't waste your time and money on this business with shady practices.
Good customer service
While I did have an issue with my order, the customer service was elite. They were quick to reply and to make things right. While I don't anticipate needing their products in the future, I would consider trying them again if needed.
I received a container of Superworms, and none of them were alive
I’ve never personally ordered frogs from there, but I do purchase feeders from them for my bearded dragon. Or at least I used to until this past week. I originally ordered 100 superworms and 25 silk worms. The container of silk worms was completely empty, and the container of superworms only had 30 worms that were alive(if you even want to call it that) and the rest were rotting at the bottom of the container. I will say the customer service lady was kind in trying to make things right. She refunded me for the silk worms since they were out of stock of them. She did send me out a new container of superworms that arrived today. Not one of them were alive, and the container looked and smelled worse than the previous one. I used to order my feeders from them all the time during the years of 2022-2023, until I started buying them from a new local supplier. My local supplier was out of what I needed so I decided to go through Josh’s frogs this time. I’m not sure what changed from then to now, but I have never been more disappointed. Their quality control is non existent, because I don’t understand how they can ship an empty container of 25 silk worms and not see that it’s empty, and with the superworms, you can clearly tell they were all rotting throughout the container.
Look No Further
I had a slight issue with my order and I kindly expressed my concerns and their staff accompanied by their guarantee, everything was resolved same day!!! just placed 2 more orders for 1/2" (500) crickets for a juvenile bearded dragon measuring 8-3/4"as well as 1/8" (500) crickets for a tiny baby that I believe my local pet store received too young to sale but put him in the tank with bearded dragons that were double his size... He is so tiny he has to have small crickets to be able to swallow them! Thanks to Josh's they offer the size I need and I know if I have an issue with either order they will stand behind their policy!!! Thanks Josh's frog's and all the staff that work hard to assist the reptile owners in need of live insects! Packages are a breeze to open unlike other online shops. I say shops because they don't even come close to being competitors!
