I came into this 1:1 coaching with multiple story ideas and zero commitment to any of them, which is probably the hardest kind of client to work with. Julian was patient enough to meet me exactly where I was.

The 1:1 coaching wasn't generic. He takes real time to understand your specific story, your specific blocks, and what you're actually trying to build. That matters more than I expected. Learning a method in theory is one thing. Having someone help you apply it to the project you've been carrying around for years, without quite knowing what to do with it, is something else entirely.

Patient, genuinely invested, and focused on helping you get the most out of your work.

This class is amazing and has EVERYTHING you need to learn story structure + internal conflicts. You will be challenged and put to the test because there is A LOT of information, therefore the price is justified in my opinion. I highly recommend the class.

I originally found Julian through his YouTube videos. After watching only a few minutes of one of his videos, things began to really click for me in a way that had not happened with any of the other story structure videos I had viewed, and I had viewed a lot.
I was immediately interested in an opportunity to be coached by Julian directly, and joined his program. Through the six month course Julian helped me shape my story ideas into a comprehensive outline with a structure that I feel proud of.
He provided excellent feedback and expertise on story structure. His comments and guidance was never overbearing, and it always felt like he wanted me to be able to tell MY story, in the best way possible.
I would recommend Julian’s YouTube videos, coaching programs, or any other writing services he has to offer for anyone who is interested in taking their storytelling to the next level.

I recently took part in The Dual Storyline Challenge and wanted to share a few words about the experience.

I’ve always been interested in story development methods that move beyond the familiar, well-worn frameworks that have been regurgitated for decades. By chance, I came across one of Julian’s YouTube videos, and his approach immediately caught my eye. It was thoughtful, practical, and different in a way that felt genuinely useful rather than gimmicky. When he later introduced The Dual Storyline Challenge, I enrolled without hesitation.

When the course began, however, I had a moment of mild alarm. It quickly became apparent that participation involved navigating Discord. As someone who is very much a writer and not a computer technician, I briefly wondered whether I’d signed up to learn story structure, or to train as a pilot for a supersonic aircraft.

Fortunately, this is where Julian’s flexibility really stood out. I explained my concern, and he resolved the issue immediately by providing direct links to the course material. Problem solved. No fuss, just a practical solution offered with good grace. As they say, all one has to do is ask.

This adjustment made all the difference. With the technical barrier removed, I could focus entirely on the substance of the challenge, which is where the real value lies. The material is clear, well thought through, and expands how you think about narrative design. Rather than repackaging old ideas, it offers a fresh way of looking at story mechanics that rewards careful attention and experimentation.

Overall, The Dual Storyline Challenge delivered exactly what I’d hoped for: a distinctive approach to story development, presented by someone who understands both the craft and the realities of the people engaging with it. The content is strong, and the willingness to accommodate different levels of technical comfort made the experience not only productive, but enjoyable.

Highly recommended—especially for writers who want to stretch how they think about story creation, without needing an advanced degree in software navigation to do so.

I had watched a few YouTube Videos from him before, so I thought: why not take this course? Didn't have high hopes still ... but was I surprised. These Masterclasses are well thought out, the material one gets is informational and clear, the guidance supportive. When I talked with my friend, she noticed: "Your questions changed! You're much more structured now!" So I can only say: These masterclasses helped me get an understanding I didn't know I could have. THANK YOU!

The Dual Storyline Challenge helped me a great deal. I'll admit the content is dense but it's really rewarding when it clicks. Using an in depth outline to map out the narrative structure of a novel may not be for everyone but if you're already using outlines or others structures, this challenge will definitely add depth and direction to your story.

This course is mostly about guiding you through the process of using the information in Julian’s youtube videos to create an outline. We went through all the youtube information (with a few minor additions), but in an order that is more practically useful than just watching the videos. Julian breaks the material up into what you need each week to complete the assignments, and he also has a q&a session at the end of week to answer questions and offer support and guidance. I personally found the experience positive, if a little overwhelming. I did not complete an outline in the four weeks, but I am working with a story that has been defeating me for over a decade, so I didn’t expect that 4 weeks would put it to rights. I do think I made real progress, and I am ending the course feeling more optimistic about this novel than I have for a very long time. For me, what made this course worthwhile was stepping back and letting myself just focus on what Julian said to focus on each week. I get so in my own head sometimes, I’m just spinning my wheels trying to do everything at once. Julian helped me slow down and focus on what needed doing. I am hopeful I can finish this outline with more time.
