I have been receiving help from kj smith for over a year now and they have been amazing. In particular Antonia Clarke has been amazing she has been so supportive and helpful with everything I’ve needed help with. I can’t fault them in any way possible i have the most pleasant experience.

I had a phone call with Zaia, i found her to be informative, very friendly and understanding to what I needed and going forward. I would definitely recommend KJ smith solicitors and if your looking for a great family solicitor you wont go wrong with Zaia.

The whole process of preparing our wills was made so much easier with the help of Sophie and Johanna. From the initial form and a very relaxed Zoom call in which any questions could be addressed to further queries and clarification, the service was very professional and quite seamless. We were very impressed with an excellent service.

I wanted some information on the UK legal requirements relating to my international surrogacy journey, and Laura Burrows provided an extremely helpful consultation. Her knowledge of the UK legal process was really impressive, and she was able to draw on extensive practical experience handling complex surrogacy and family law matters. Laura clearly explained the legal framework, the key stages involved, and the most effective approach to navigating the process.

What I found especially helpful (and reassuring) was her practical insight, professional network, and first-hand understanding of the individuals and organisations involved in making decisions and rulings. The advice was clear, easy to understand, and specific to the circumstances of my international surrogacy process.

Sofie was fantastic to work with from our first consultation to the close. Professional and empathetic with clear and honest communication. Would strongly recommend!

Been going though a divorce since December 2023, have not got one single step closer to finalising the divorce, or getting a court date. The solicitor bills you for work you have not requested her to do, gives you advice, then goes back on that advice,and when she seeks advice from a senior colleague she bills you for that even though, clear instructions have been sent to her as to what you would like. This is an amicable divorce, but they are just drawing this out. 20th September 2026, I paid £1500.00 to have an outstanding balance of £400.00
Today 28/09/2026 i was told due to work that have been done, I owe +- £1500.00.
But the best is each time I am asked to pay and ask for an itemised break down I am basically threatened that if I do not pay, they will close my case with immediate effect and I can seek advice else were.
I basically feel trapped now and totally depressed with spending £13 000.00 plus and not being a step closer to being divorce after nearly 3 years. Absolutely disgusted.

I would avoid these solicitors like a plague.

No you will not find my details as I wrote this review on someone else's behalf as they are scared that you would victimize them and then charge them even more or delay the proceedings even longer.

As mentioned in the previous review, this divorce has been going on for 3 years this December 2026 and there is no evidence of being a single step closer to being divorced. But over £13000.00 has been paid to your business.

Unfortunately this is not the only person who has complained about your company and they have had the same dealings with your company.

Clear instructions have been given to the solicitor, but, they will email with advice and then request moneys to be paid, NO one asked for this work to be done, so they are taking it on themselves to do what they think is right and not following the request and requests required or instructions asked. On top of that they say they will ask advice from a senior partner of the company but that will be added to the bill, even when requested not to, then a further amount is added to the bill because the instructions given have not been followed and the solicitor has taken it on themselves to do work and bill for it that has not been requested.

Surely if the solicitor wishes to give advice, they can, but should not charge you for that advice, not just charge you as they have sent an email. You should only be charged if you agree and say yes okay yes that is a good thought or yes great I did not think about that please go ahead, then you can be charged NOT just because they wish to give advice.

Big pity that your replays do not show up here either.

the bill has gone from £1500.00 (ex vat) to £2300.00 (ex vat)
There has been no instructions of work placed to the solicitor, or the company, but the bill has gone up nearly £1000.00 ??????????? what on earth are these charges for. A request was made for a full break down of all the work that has been done, and even with instructions of NO i do not want that or need it, there are still charges made to the account, and this is due to "it is my legal obligation to advise you". No it was not asked of you, it was made clear please just sort out a court date so this can be finalised as it has been 34 months already and there is still no court date. In several emails it has been made clear that the work you done was not asked for but yet you still give advice and charged for it ????? No there will be no payment to work that has not been requested. Just do what is asked of yourself and the company. Surely if you are as good as you say you are and K J Smith Solicitors are and advertise to be, it would/should not take nearly 3 years(34 months so far) to get someone a divorce, no matter how complicated it is, if both parties are amicable!
This case is not that complicated as there are no children, no property, both parties are amicable to the financial order and the pay out of moneys, so WHY is it taking so long nearly 3 years(34 months so far) REALLY.
Doing a load of research and, requesting advice form other divorce solicitors,(as 9 out of 10 give you an hours free advice and help) a complicated divorce with children, property, financial order should take on longer than 18months if all parties agree and are amicable. So yet again this is an amicable divorce but this has been going on for 34 months, and there is still no court date for the divorce?

Think carefully before instructing this firm if you need dependable delivery and transparent costs. KJ Smith failed to produce the documents we had specifically agreed and that I had asked them to prioritise ahead of my hearing. They charged for preparing their own disclaimer without ever telling me in advance that this would be a cost, billed for advice that had already been given during the free initial consultation, and exceeded the agreed budget without any warning at the time — even though they had confirmed in writing that I would be told first, and even though their own terms of business commit them to providing a written cost estimate before a hearing.

The single most important of the agreed and instructed documents was never delivered at all, being critical for the upcoming hearing. The remaining two arrived as unfinished drafts requiring substantial further work from me, with no time left before the hearing to do it.

When I raised a complaint, the supervising partner's reply contained remarks criticising the condition of my case and the legal advice I had previously received. The final complaint response from KJ Smith as a whole was all about defending the firm at any cost rather than answering the complaint or engaging with clear, specific failures on their side. Addressing the comment from the firm below, it is further confusing what is being investigated when the firm has already sent a final response to the formal complaint.

I only wish I had reached out to K J Smith Solicitors sooner.
