In June of 2025 we decided to explore purchasing an apartment in Lagos, Portugal. We started off with a virtual meeting where Ben walked us through the process at a high level, explaining the various steps. Ben was also able to provide us with key contacts in the property purchasing process--namely a talented and trustworthy lawyer as well as a mortgage broker. Ben was also very upfront and direct, but also genuine. These attributes resonated well with us. It was clear after this call that we had found our realtor.

Soon after, Ben sent us an array of properties he thought may interest us. We also identified properties on our own that we were interested in viewing. Ben compiled a Google spreadsheet documenting each apartment and its strengths and weaknesses. Once we arrived in Lagos, Ben devoted several days touring with us through the various apartments on the document (even ones we selected that he thought weren't suitable). Not surprisingly (at least not to Ben 😁) we didn't fall in love with any properties on our personally curated list. I pointed out how patient Ben was in touring apartments he was quite certain we would not like. Ben explained that it was important for him to earn his trust so that we could work together patiently. Unfortunately, we did not find a place on our first scouting trip, but Ben patiently worked in the background trying to find the perfect match for us.

Eventually an apartment came up that met our criteria, but we needed to act fast and couldn't travel to Portugal fast enough. Because of the rapport Ben built with us, we felt comfortable having him perform a video tour for us and providing his personal assessment as well. Based on the tour and Ben's assessment we offered on and secured our first property in Portugal.

We can't say enough about our experience with Ben. Purchasing property in a foreign country can be quite a stressful experience! The whole process was made much easier due to Ben's professional knowledge and connections within the Algarve, and equally importantly our trust in him.

Thanks again for helping us find our sea-view apartment in Lagos! We hope to run into you when we are in town.

We worked with Ben at Lagos Homes as part of our quest to find a new retirement home in the sunny Algarve. Ben covered the western end of the Algarve in conjunction with a colleague based in Tavira for the Eastern side.
